Chapter 25
Some old ladies are so scared that they want to cry. They are particularly good at playing the victim.
Grandma Cheng is well aware of this.
“I’ll take care of Xiao Luo’s matter.”
“My heart is so grateful to you. I’ve never seen anyone as kind-hearted as you. It’s Xiao Luo’s good fortune. This poor child. He was just born when his parents went to war and never spent a day with him. Other children bullied him, saying he had no father or mother.”
Grandma Cheng couldn’t hold back her tears, “He was so young, just listening. When he came back, he didn’t ask a single question. He just hid in his blanket and cried, afraid that I would see and feel sad.”
“Finally, we had a chance to reunite, but then the war broke out again. Xiao Luo secretly went to the battlefield with his second uncle, but he didn’t even get to see his father and mother one last time.”
“This child, he’s never had a home since he was little. I…” Grandma Cheng sobbed, “I… I can’t bear to close my eyes without finding him a wife.”
Bai Wenxiu felt her heart ache with sadness. She deeply empathized with her.
“Grandma, don’t cry. You’re making me want to cry too. Don’t worry, I’ll take care of Xiao Luo’s matter. I’ll go to my relative’s house right now and set a date for the two children to meet.”
“Alright, I’ll leave it to you.” Grandma Cheng didn’t want to delay any longer.
She had a feeling that her grandson’s marriage might not be smooth sailing.
The more she felt this way, the more anxious she became.
She couldn’t wait for everything to be settled.
“No trouble at all.” Bai Wenxiu said and got up to leave.
Er Shen Yu Xiang Hong had just entered the room and hadn’t even spoken when she saw Bai Wenxiu leave.
Bai Wenxiu stepped out of the hospital and stood at the entrance, feeling much clearer after the wind blew on her face.
It was strange, she had just had a feeling that she would be betraying Grandma Cheng if she didn’t find a wife for Cheng Luo.
She shook her head, dismissing that feeling.
She got on her bicycle and went to her relative’s house in the countryside.
She was a little scared.
If she waited any longer,
Something strange might happen.
Well, it seems that what you fear often comes to pass.
Bai Wenxiu arrived at her relative’s house.
Her relative gave her a smile that was worse than crying, “She-Gu, you’re here…”
This relative was a distant cousin.
They didn’t visit each other often.
Bai Wenxiu only knew that her cousin’s daughter was a capable and efficient girl, and she looked pretty good too, otherwise, she wouldn’t have been introduced to the Cheng family.
As soon as she entered the house, the girl pulled a long face.
Anyone could see that she was unhappy about Bai Wenxiu’s arrival.
Bai Wenxiu was a little confused.
“You child.” Bai Wenxiu’s cousin couldn’t hold back his face, he wanted to hit her.
The girl suddenly became stubborn,
“She-gu, I’ll tell you the truth. I don’t need to find anyone. I won’t agree to any conditions. I’m going to marry Da Cheng, and I won’t marry anyone else.”
Her last words were almost a roar.
It made Bai Wenxiu’s heart jump.
She was furious.
What kind of family was this? They hadn’t even wiped their butts clean, and they were asking her to introduce a partner?
The girl roared and ran away.
She didn’t care who was in the house.
Bai Wenxiu was fuming but had nowhere to vent it. She felt so stifled…
Bai Wenxiu’s cousin’s wife quickly apologized, “She-gu, the child doesn’t understand. Don’t be angry. I’ll deal with her later. So, is there a good family?”
She couldn’t introduce another family now.
Bai Wenxiu said with a cold face, “Heh, I think the child has someone she likes. Don’t force her.”
At this time, what was Lin Qing doing?
She was going to the He family with Big Sister, carrying a piece of cured meat and some eggs.
It took half a day to go to the He family and come back, so the two sisters would definitely have lunch at the He family. Wang Lanfeng was afraid that He Lao Pozi would bully her second daughter, so she specially asked the two sisters to bring something.
Lin Qing’s ears were sharp, and she noticed someone following them as soon as they left the house.
She exchanged a look with Big Sister, and after walking for a while, they realized that it was Zhao Hui Yan following behind them.
When they reached the village entrance, she turned back.
It was obvious that she was going to get backup.
“What kind of trouble is that family brewing?” Big Sister was furious.
Lin Qing frowned slightly. Zhao Lao Pozi was stubborn and wouldn’t give up until she achieved her goal.
This time, there was probably no good intention.
On the other side,
Zhao Lao Pozi saw the two sisters leave the village with things in their hands. Her eyes twirled, and she guessed that they were going to visit relatives.
What relatives could the Lin family have?
Her aunt had married to the neighboring village, and she had died two years ago. The two families had long since severed ties.
The only other option was the He family.
Knowing their direction, Zhao Lao Pozi’s voice sharpened, “Let’s go.”
Zhao Hui Yan had wasted a lot of time going back and forth, and the two of them hustled to finally catch up with the Lin sisters.
They each held a wooden stick and approached stealthily.
“Crack!” Zhao Hui Yan stepped on a tree branch.
The two of them quickly darted into the bushes.
Zhao Lao Pozi glared at Zhao Hui Yan, “You’re good for nothing!”
Zhao Hui Yan innocently shrunk her neck. How was she supposed to know there were dead branches on the ground?
The bushes were thick, and the two of them were thin and small. They really blended into the bushes.
But Lin Qing had sharp ears and eyes. She had already heard the noise and turned back, just in time to see a patch of grass swaying slightly.
Anyone with a brain would know someone was hiding there.
Zhao Hui Yan, in her own cleverness, let out a “Meow!”
Meow your sister,
Who do you think you’re fooling?
Big Sister: “It must be a wild cat.”
Lin Qing: “Yeah.”
Zhao Hui Yan and Zhao Lao Pozi both breathed a sigh of relief.
Zhao Lao Pozi was pleased with her daughter, “You’re still useful.”
Zhao Hui Yan grinned silently.
Just as they relaxed, they looked up again and were dumbfounded.
Lin Qing was almost right in front of them.
Zhao Lao Pozi’s heart skipped a beat. She stood up and swung her stick.
The stick only swung halfway before she went black and lost consciousness.
Zhao Hui Yan didn’t know when Lin Qing had appeared behind them.
When her mother fell, her dark face turned pale.
The shock gave her some tiger spirit. She swung her stick to hit Lin Qing.
She didn’t care where she hit, she just swung first and asked questions later.
Lin Qing didn’t even blink. She grabbed the stick with her instincts and snatched it away with a powerful move.
Then, she took a steel needle and stabbed it into an acupoint on Zhao Hui Yan’s neck.
Zhao Hui Yan felt a prick, and her whole body felt like it had deflated, becoming uncontrollably limp.
She couldn’t move a muscle.
Then, she watched in horror as Lin Qing took a small cloth bag and held it over her mother’s mouth and nose.
It was incredibly brutal.
“What did you do to me?”
Zhao Hui Yan desperately tried to get up, but she couldn’t move at all.
Now, she was truly scared.
She was so scared that she wanted to cry.
Lin Qing looked at her coldly, “If you move again, the needle in the back of your neck will go all the way in. Even God won’t be able to pull it out. You’ll be paralyzed for the rest of your life.”
Paralyzed? No way, she was counting on her new sister-in-law to take her to the city to live the life of a city dweller.
Zhao Hui Yan begged for mercy, tears and snot dripping down her face,
“Lin Qing, please spare me. I won’t oppose you anymore. We were such good playmates when we were little.”
It was fine until she mentioned that. When she did, Lin Qing’s eyes became even colder,
“Just tell me what you and your mother were planning, and I’ll take the needle out.”
