Chapter 357: I Am Willing to Accept
“What do you want this medicinal paste for?” Jiang Dage did not answer immediately. Instead, he fixed a suspicious look on Shen Qianhe.
Seeing his expression, Shen Qianhe had no choice but to honestly explain his purpose. “To be honest, as soon as I smelled it, I thought the paste you have on your legs is something special. I’d like to take some back to study it and see what it’s like. If it turns out to be good, I might be interested in cooperating with your third sister-in-law.”
“I see,” Jiang Dage said, “But I can’t agree to this right now. This paste was made by my third sister-in-law, and I need to ask her first. If she agrees, then I can give it to you. If you’re not in a hurry, you can come back in the afternoon.”
Shen Qianhe considered that he had already taken a day off from the hospital to be here today. It wouldn’t hurt to stay a little longer, and he hadn’t seen his grandfather for a while, so chatting with him would be nice as well.
“Alright, I’ll come back in the afternoon,” Shen Qianhe agreed quickly.
After settling this, he continued to examine Jiang Dage’s legs.
The examination left him utterly astonished. The last time Jiang Dage had come to see him, his legs had been completely numb, but now, after just lightly tapping them, the response seemed entirely normal.
“Doctor Shen, you made my legs hurt when you tapped them. Could you please go a little lighter?” Jiang Dage winced in pain.
Shen Qianhe immediately felt embarrassed and apologized, “Sorry about that, I’ll adjust my pressure right away.”
He had forgotten that Jiang Dage’s legs were no longer numb, and he had used more force than necessary.
“It’s okay, just go a bit easier,” Jiang Dage said, seeing that Shen Qianhe’s attitude was sincere, and he didn’t want to hold a grudge.
After a thorough examination, Shen Qianhe was still in disbelief that the legs of the man he had once told would never walk again were now healing.
“Everything looks good. Congratulations, Jiang Dage. Your legs are slowly improving. With more training, they’ll be able to walk like normal again. I’m sorry for the harsh words I said before, you must have been upset for a long time,” Shen Qianhe said, lowering his head in apology.
Jiang Dage no longer seemed angry, understanding that at the time, his condition had indeed been quite severe. Shen Qianhe had just been speaking the truth based on his medical assessment.
“It’s alright, Doctor Shen. I don’t hold a grudge. I know you were just telling me what your medical findings showed. If I’m to blame, it’s for not being more skilled. I can understand that,” Jiang Dage said, smiling with a silly, good-natured expression.
Shen Qianhe’s lips twitched at his words, unsure whether to be angry or not. Seeing Jiang Dage’s grin only added to his confusion.
“Since your legs are fine now, I’m at ease. I’ll come back this afternoon,” he said and turned to leave.
After leaving the Jiang family’s home, Shen Qianhe wandered back to the village clinic in a bit of a daze.
It had been a while, but as he returned, he noticed that the number of patients at the clinic hadn’t decreased at all.
Not long after, he asked someone in the queue and learned that many patients had already been seen, and others were still waiting.
Shen Qianhe had originally wanted to ask Li Yiyi some things, but seeing the situation, he realized he probably wouldn’t get a chance.
In the end, he went to find his grandfather, who was busy preparing medicine in the pharmacy.
“Grandfather,” Shen Qianhe called as he walked in.
Grandfather, thinking it was his younger cousin Shen Zhonghe again, was about to yell when he saw his eldest grandson’s face. He swallowed the words that were about to leave his mouth.
“Oh, it’s you. I thought your younger brother was here bothering me again. Why are you here today? Aren’t you supposed to be working?” Grandfather asked, looking at him curiously.
Shen Qianhe smiled wryly and helped out as he answered, “I took a day off from the hospital to come here. Grandfather, do you know Jiang Qing from the village?”
“Jiang Qing? You mean Old Jiang’s eldest son, right? What’s wrong? Do you know him?” Grandfather asked, puzzled.
“Yes, he was my patient. I treated his legs. I came today to check on him, and he can walk now,” Shen Qianhe said calmly.
Upon hearing this, Grandfather stopped his work, a strange look appearing on his face as he stared at Shen Qianhe. “So you’re the one who treated Old Jiang’s eldest son’s legs?”
“Yes, I’m in orthopedics, and he had an injury to his legs, so I treated him,” Shen Qianhe replied without realizing the odd look his grandfather was giving him.
“You’re the one who told Jiang Dage that his legs couldn’t be treated and that he would spend his life in bed?” Grandfather raised an eyebrow.
Shen Qianhe immediately sensed that his grandfather’s tone was off. When he looked up, he realized his grandfather was staring at him like he was a fool.
“Grandfather, I only said that based on his condition. Typically, someone with an injury like his would be left permanently disabled, and I didn’t expect anyone could actually cure his legs,” Shen Qianhe said, feeling aggrieved.
Grandfather snorted, “You young kid, I have to admit that western medicine is impressive, but our ancestors’ medical techniques have been passed down for thousands of years, and they are the most profound. Understand?”
“I understand now. Grandfather, are you familiar with Jiang’s third daughter-in-law? Could you introduce me to her? I have something I’d like to ask her,” Shen Qianhe asked earnestly.
Grandfather looked at him for a moment, then turned back to his work. After a while, he said, “I can help you talk to Li Yatou about this, but whether she wants to meet you is up to her. I can’t guarantee anything.”
Shen Qianhe, hearing this, was overjoyed. “It’s alright, Grandfather. As long as you help me pass on my message to her, I’ll accept whatever decision she makes.”
Shen Qianhe thought that after discussing this with his grandfather, it would likely take a few days before he could meet Li Yatou.
