Chapter 368: Effective
Third Uncle looked at his grandson, who was grinning at him, and couldn’t quite understand why Li Yiyi had decided to ask this troublesome boy to help with the pharmaceutical project.
“You’re mistaken. I didn’t ask for this troublesome kid. I actually wish he’d stay away from me. It wasn’t me who wanted to find you, it’s Yiyi, that girl. You sit here for a while, she’ll be here soon,” Third Uncle said with a look of disdain before turning away to attend to other matters.
Shen Zhonghe, hearing this, followed Third Uncle and asked, “Grandpa, are you talking about Li Yiyi? Why does she want to see me? I haven’t caused any trouble with her recently.”
“Don’t ask too many questions. If she’s looking for you, it must be something important. Just talk to her when she gets here,” Third Uncle replied before noticing a familiar figure walking in from outside. “Here she is. Girl, take him away with you.”
Following Third Uncle’s gaze, Shen Zhonghe quickly spotted the petite figure approaching.
“Comrade Li, hello. I heard from my grandpa that you were looking for me. Is there something you need?” He stepped forward to ask.
Li Yiyi smiled at him. “Comrade Shen, hello. I do have something to discuss. I heard from Third Uncle that you work in a pharmaceutical factory, is that right?”
Shen Zhonghe glanced at Third Uncle, who was busy working, and nodded slightly. “Yes, I do work at a pharmaceutical factory.”
“Let’s find somewhere to talk. We don’t want to disturb Third Uncle while he’s working,” Li Yiyi suggested, noticing there were patients around.
Shen Zhonghe agreed, and the two of them quickly moved outside. They each grabbed a chair and sat down in the yard to continue their conversation.
“Comrade Li, you asked if I work at a pharmaceutical factory. Does that relate to what you want to discuss?” Shen Zhonghe asked as soon as they were seated.
Li Yiyi smiled. “Yes, it’s related to your work. I’d like to collaborate with your pharmaceutical factory. I have a blood circulation ointment that I can guarantee will bring in big profits if your factory invests in it.”
Shen Zhonghe was surprised. “Dr. Li, may I ask why you don’t do this yourself? If you know this ointment will make money, why give it to a factory?”
Li Yiyi smiled again. “I have many formulas, and I already have other plans. As for the pharmaceutical factory, I just want to help the people in this village find work without having to leave the village.”
Shen Zhonghe looked at her with admiration. “Dr. Li, how can you be so sure that your ointment will be so profitable?”
Li Yiyi pursed her lips in a smile. “I can guess. If you don’t believe me, when you get home tonight, you can ask your older brother about my ointment. He might be able to clear up your doubts.”
“Also, in addition to this formula, Third Uncle is willing to donate another formula,” she added.
Shen Zhonghe felt a pang of jealousy upon hearing this.
He had been pestering his grandfather for days, hoping to get a formula to fulfill a task, but his grandfather had refused to give him even a single one. Yet now, his grandfather was so easily giving away a formula to someone else. He felt a little upset.
“I also heard from Third Uncle that you’re competing with a leader in your factory for the position of factory director. If you present this plan, I believe you’ll achieve your goals very quickly,” she said with a smile.
Shen Zhonghe’s heart stirred, but he tried to remain calm. “I understand. I’ll bring it up with the higher-ups, but I can’t guarantee the outcome.”
Li Yiyi’s lips curled into a slight smile. She had caught the subtle shift in his expression, and she knew this was likely to succeed.
After finishing their conversation, Li Yiyi had no more concerns. She just needed to wait at home for the good news.
To celebrate her successful negotiation, Li Yiyi bought a large amount of food from her space supermarket. When her family asked about it, she used the excuse that she had gone to the city to buy it.
Meanwhile, Jiang Hong, who was beside her, smiled as he heard her explanation. Sometimes when she didn’t explain things well, he would step in to help, strengthening her story. Li Yiyi didn’t know this and thought she had handled it perfectly.
That evening, the Jiang family gathered for dinner in the main room of the old Jiang house. This would be the last dinner they all shared together as a family before they began eating separately.
Although the adults felt a little emotional, their smiles returned when they saw the abundant food on the table. The meal was incredibly rich, even more so than their New Year’s feasts.
There were ten large dishes, roasted whole lambs, and so much meat that they couldn’t believe they would be eating such a grand meal in their lifetime.
On the other hand, the dinner at the Shen household was quieter, but Shen Zhonghe was deep in thought about what Li Yiyi had told him earlier that day.
As dinner was coming to an end, he knew if he didn’t ask his hardworking older brother now, he’d probably disappear into the study again. He quickly seized the opportunity before his brother finished eating.
“Big Brother, I need to ask you something. I heard from Li Yiyi that you have her ointment. Have you used it? How effective is it?”
Shen Qianhe put down his bowl and looked at him curiously. “Little brother, did you meet Dr. Li today?”
“Yes, she had Grandpa call me over to talk about a few things. But Big Brother, you still haven’t told me—did you use the ointment she gave you? How was it?”
Shen Qianhe nodded. “I used it. It worked well. The hospital director even took a bottle from me. Now I only have one bottle left.”
Shen Zhonghe’s eyes brightened. “How was the effect?”
“It’s really good. I’d say it’s much better than anything we’ve used in Western medicine. The patient’s leg, which was at risk of amputation, has improved a lot. We were planning surgery, but now it’s healing well. Dr. Li’s ointment is definitely more effective than anything else.”
