But what could he do if he didn’t admit it? The two father and son looked so alike that even if he denied it, no one would believe him.

Jiang Zhanpeng once again heard the voice from above his head, and when he looked up, the faces of his parents standing on the edge of the pit immediately came into his view.

“Dad, Mom, you finally found me. I thought I’d never see you again.” Jiang Zhanpeng, sitting in the pit, cried loudly with tears in his eyes.

The couple squatting above the pit looked at their son with helpless expressions. Seeing that he was safe and sound, they naturally felt relieved.

“Stop crying. Weren’t you brave when you were following someone? Why are you acting like this now?” Jiang Hong scolded with a look of disdain.

Jiang Zhanpeng sniffed, looking aggrieved as he said, “I wasn’t thinking so much when I was following them. I didn’t expect to fall into this deep pit. There’s no one here, and I’m scared to death.”

Jiang Hong snorted lightly and told Li Yiyi, “Wife, stay here and watch this kid. I’ll go look around to see if I can find something like a rope.”

Li Yiyi looked at the deep pit, which was about two meters deep. She wasn’t sure who had dug it, but the pit walls were covered in slippery green moss, making it impossible to climb.

“Alright, you go ahead. I’ll keep an eye on this boy.” Li Yiyi looked at her son in the pit with a mix of helplessness and heartache.

Jiang Hong patted his wife’s shoulder and then turned to walk into the grass.

The grass around them was eerily quiet, and with the surrounding darkness, Jiang Zhanpeng was even more scared. He quickly spoke to his mother, who was squatting above the pit, “Mom, can you talk to me? I’m scared.”

Li Yiyi, with a mix of anger and heartache, looked at her son who was hugging his legs tightly, trembling in fear. “Now you’re scared? This is to teach you a lesson. Otherwise, I’ll tell your dad not to bother looking for a rope. Let you stay in this pit for the night, and that way you’ll really learn a lesson.”

When Jiang Zhanpeng heard this, his face turned pale, and he cried out, “No, Mom, I know I was wrong! Please don’t make me stay here overnight. I’ll be terrified! I’ll never do it again. Please don’t leave me here!”

Li Yiyi, watching her son begging for mercy, was only more furious inside. She wanted to teach him a good lesson, especially after he had caused such a commotion when he suddenly went missing, making the whole house turn into chaos, and nearly causing the three elderly people to faint. She was so angry she almost wanted to shove him back into her belly to be reborn.

And now this kid had ended up in this pit.

“Hmph, you think I’ll let you off this easy? Not unless the sun rises in the west. Even if you get out of this pit, I won’t let you go so easily. Just wait for your dad and me to deal with you.”

When Jiang Zhanpeng heard his mother’s warning, he felt like a dark cloud had covered him. At that moment, he felt like he might just stay in the pit rather than face his mom’s punishment.

But it seemed the heavens didn’t hear his thoughts, as soon after, Jiang Hong returned.

“I looked around nearby but couldn’t find a rope or anything, but I did find this.” He held up a long vine and showed it to Li Yiyi.

Li Yiyi took a glance at the vine. It was made of several smaller vines woven together into a rope.

“Is this vine strong enough?” She asked skeptically, looking at the vine.

Jiang Hong smiled slightly. “Don’t worry, dear. I’ve used this vine many times while on missions to tie things up. It’s very strong and can hold over a hundred pounds of weight.”

Seeing his confidence, Li Yiyi felt reassured and moved aside. “Alright, then throw it down.”

Jiang Hong nodded and quickly tossed the vine down into the pit where their son was.

“Little brat, tie this vine around yourself. Let me know when you’ve done it, and I’ll pull you up,” he called down to Jiang Zhanpeng.

Jiang Zhanpeng looked at the vine that had landed near his feet, his small eyes full of hesitation. Should he tie it or not?

“What are you waiting for? Don’t you want to come up? I’ll tell you, there might be snakes around here tonight. If that happens, don’t come crying to us to pull you up.” After waiting for a while and seeing no signs of action from his son, Jiang Hong used his trump card.

The next second, Jiang Zhanpeng, who had been motionless, turned pale at the mention of snakes. He quickly grabbed the vine and tied it around himself, then shouted up to his parents, “Dad, Mom, I’m done. Please pull me up, I’m begging you!”

Jiang Hong began pulling up the vine while talking to his wife. “Wife, did you notice? Our son was acting strange. When I didn’t mention snakes, he didn’t want to come up. But the moment I mentioned snakes, he desperately wanted to come up. It’s really weird.”

Li Yiyi, hearing this, looked at the son who was already out of the pit and sneered. “He’s quite clever. That little brat, he didn’t want to come up earlier because he was afraid we’d beat him. Now, he’s willing to come up because he’s scared of the snakes I mentioned.”

Jiang Hong understood after hearing his wife’s explanation. He looked at his son, who had already climbed out, and scolded, “Little brat, I didn’t expect you to be so crafty at such a young age. I wonder who you take after.”

Li Yiyi, hearing this, gave him a half-smile and said, “Well, it’s certainly not me. I’m very upright.”

Jiang Hong was stunned for a moment and then replied, “Well, it’s not me either. I didn’t have so many tricks when I was young.”

By now, Jiang Zhanpeng, who had climbed out of the pit, stood before his parents, shrinking his neck and lowering his head as he quietly said, “Dad, Mom.”

Li Yiyi, seeing his frightened look, sneered. She wasn’t going to soften her heart or be fooled by his current appearance.

“Let’s go home now. Once we’re back, we’ll see how I deal with you.” With that, Li Yiyi didn’t look at her mischievous son again and immediately turned to leave the grass.

Jiang Zhanpeng, left behind, clung to his father, looking as if the sky was falling. “Dad, help me! Mom seems to be really angry with me. You have to save me!”
