Chapter 463: Embarrassing Display

“Stop the nonsense and get to the point,” Li Yiyi said, a bit impatient, as she glared at her.

Crying and sniffling, Jiang Huijing immediately stopped her sobs and continued the story she hadn’t finished, “We were afraid you’d sever ties with us, so I discussed with Fuguige and we decided to steal the pill back and return it to you. But as soon as Fuguige took it, they caught him. Now, those people are planning to send Fuguige to jail.”

“Third Sister-in-law, what should we do? If Fuguige goes to jail, what will happen to me and the kids at home? I can’t live without Fuguige,” Jiang Huijing cried, looking like a complete mess.

Li Yiyi looked at her helplessly and sighed, “Enough crying. Now you’re scared. Why didn’t you think about this outcome when you decided to do this?”

“We just wanted to steal the pill back to return it to you so you wouldn’t be angry with us,” Jiang Huijing said softly.

Li Yiyi sighed again. “Let’s go.”

After walking only a few steps, Li Yiyi realized Jiang Huijing hadn’t followed her, so she stopped and turned around, glaring at Jiang Huijing. “Why aren’t you coming? Don’t want to save your Fuguige anymore?”

Jiang Huijing finally reacted, then foolishly asked, “Where are we going?”

Li Yiyi sighed once more. “Where else? To save your Fuguige. Are you coming or not?”

Upon hearing they were going to save her Fuguige, Jiang Huijing immediately perked up, running ahead of Li Yiyi with excitement. “Hurry, Third Sister-in-law!”

Li Yiyi watched her act as if she had just been given a shot of adrenaline, unsure whether to laugh or get angry. She just sighed and followed her as they left the courtyard.

The two of them boarded a bus to the police station not far from the courtyard entrance.

Half an hour later, the bus arrived at the police station, and the two got off and headed directly for the entrance.

Seeing the police station, Jiang Huijing immediately became anxious and grabbed Li Yiyi’s arm.

“Third Sister-in-law, are we really going in?” Only after getting off the bus did she realize the place they were heading was the police station.

Seeing the building, Jiang Huijing’s legs started shaking uncontrollably, even though they hadn’t entered yet. She had always associated this place with bad people; good people, like them, would never want to come here.

Li Yiyi looked at her trembling legs, a mix of disbelief and amusement on her face. “Why are you so scared? Don’t you want to see your Fuguige?”

“Fuguige… yes, Fuguige is inside, but I… I’m scared,” Jiang Huijing’s fear took over again, and she looked like she might start crying.

Seeing this, Li Yiyi didn’t waste any more time and grabbed her hand, pulling her into the police station.

“Sister-in-law, I’m scared, please let go of me!” Jiang Huijing cried desperately, trying to pull away from Li Yiyi’s grip, but finally had no choice but to walk along, head down, behind her.

Just as they entered, they ran into Zhonghe, who was returning to his desk with some documents. He smiled as he walked over to them. “Sister-in-law, what brings you here? Is there something I can help with?”

Li Yiyi smiled and greeted him, “Zhonghe, long time no see. I actually have something to ask for your help with, and I’m really sorry to bother you.”

“Ah, no need for all that. Jiang Hong and I are good brothers, his issues are my issues. Tell me, what do you need?” Zhonghe responded warmly.

Li Yiyi smiled and quickly explained the situation.

“Here’s the deal. We just want to see him. Is that possible?” She asked after finishing.

Zhonghe nodded, pursing his lips. “I only found out about this from you, sister-in-law. Don’t worry, I’ve got this covered. Please wait here while I find out who’s in charge of this.”

“Thanks so much,” Li Yiyi said with a grateful smile.

“Don’t mention it. If you keep being polite like this, Jiang Hong will scold me,” Zhonghe said, pretending to be annoyed.

“Alright, alright,” Li Yiyi quickly agreed with a smile.

After Zhonghe left to investigate, Jiang Huijing, who had been hiding behind, finally dared to speak up.

“Sister-in-law, I didn’t know you had connections here. If I had known, I wouldn’t have been so scared.” Her previous fear was gone, replaced with joy, as she no longer had the same terrified expression.

Li Yiyi looked at her and sighed, “Even though we know people here, we still need to go through the proper procedures. We can’t just do whatever we want.”

“I know, I know. But sister-in-law, since Zhong is a friend of you and my brother, could you please get him to release Fuguige?” Jiang Huijing immediately asked.

Li Yiyi gave her a blank stare. “Jiang Huijing, didn’t you hear what I said earlier? I told you we need to follow the law. Are you ignoring me?”

Jiang Huijing, startled, immediately looked guilty. “Sister-in-law, why are you so mad? It’s like you want to eat me alive. I just knew you didn’t like me.”

Li Yiyi took a deep breath, wishing Zhonghe would hurry up with the investigation so she could escape from Jiang Huijing’s constant pestering.

Fortunately, it seemed like the universe was listening, and not long after, Zhonghe appeared with the information they were waiting for.

“Sister-in-law, I found out who arrested our brother-in-law. It was one of my colleagues. They were called after a report, and the person said our brother-in-law stole something, and they caught him in the act.”

Li Yiyi glanced at Jiang Huijing, who was nervously shrinking back.

Jiang Huijing immediately lowered her head upon being noticed.

Li Yiyi forced a smile and looked back at Zhonghe, pleading, “Can we go see him now?”

“No problem, sister-in-law. Just follow me,” Zhonghe answered with a nod.

When Jiang Huijing heard they were going to see her Fuguige, she immediately stopped being a coward and ran ahead faster than either of them.

Li Yiyi watched her embarrassingly run ahead and felt deep regret for bringing this person with her.
