Chapter 477: Look at You
Jia Chunhua hurriedly and apologetically declined, saying, “No need, no need, I’ll just try a bit, how can I take both food and the fish snacks? Wouldn’t we three become thieves?”
As soon as she said that, laughter rang out around the dining table.
“Alright, Xiao Jia, it’s just a bag of small dried fish, how could that make us thieves? Take it.” Jiang’s mother said, half amused, half helpless.
Seeing this, Jia Chunhua had no choice but to agree, her face turning red.
At the following meal, Jia Chunhua finally understood why her two sons didn’t want to come home for dinner.
Not only was the food at Jiang’s house abundant, but it was also delicious. Even she, the adult, couldn’t resist her cravings and wished she could eat there every day.
After lunch, the mother and two sons walked out of Jiang’s house, each holding a bag of small dried fish, all of them looking slightly embarrassed.
On the way back, the two brothers followed closely behind their mother, both of them looking nervous, ready for a scolding from her at any moment.
When they got home and the mother hadn’t scolded them, the brothers couldn’t take it anymore and stepped forward.
“Mom, scold us already, please, if you don’t, we’re going to be nervous for the rest of the afternoon during class,” Xu Dabao spoke up, standing in front of her.
“I won’t scold you. Now I finally understand why you two don’t want to come home for dinner. Tell me honestly, do you think the food I cook is too bad?” Jia Chunhua pointed at her two sons.
Xu Dabao and Xu Xiaobao looked at each other, neither of them saying anything for a long while. Finally, Xu Dabao spoke up, “Mom, do you want us to tell the truth?”
“Of course, I want the truth. Why would I want to hear lies? Just say it,” Jia Chunhua urged impatiently.
“Alright, if we say the truth, you can’t hit us,” Xu Dabao quickly added another condition.
After hearing this, Jia Chunhua took a deep breath and reminded herself that these were her own sons, born after ten months of pregnancy. She couldn’t hit them.
“Fine, I won’t hit you, but you better speak quickly,” she shouted.
The brothers, startled by her shout, both flinched.
“Brother, you better tell mom,” Xu Xiaobao gently tugged at his older brother’s arm and whispered in his ear.
Xu Dabao glared at his little brother and muttered, “So you’re just waiting for me to get hit.”
“Mom, this is what you wanted me to say, the truth is, your food is too awful, really awful. Me and my brother are scared to eat it,” Xu Dabao quickly took a few steps back, just in case his mother would hit him.
Upon hearing this, Jia Chunhua was so angry she almost reached out to smack him, but then heard her son call out, “Mom, Mom, you promised, you can’t hit us! Why aren’t you keeping your word?”
Jia Chunhua finally realized she had indeed promised not to hit them.
So she lowered her hand.
“Alright, let’s go home. I’ll improve my cooking skills from now on,” she promised.
Meanwhile, at Jiang’s house, Jiang Yueyue and her brother were anxiously discussing whether the two brothers would get beaten.
When Li Yiyi finished washing the dishes and came out, she overheard the siblings’ conversation.
“They won’t be beaten, don’t worry. Your Chunhua aunt’s anger has already passed,” Li Yiyi sat down beside them and reassured them.
As she sat down, she noticed her daughter was holding a test paper with full marks.
“Whose is this?” Li Yiyi took a look and saw Jiang Yueyue’s name on it.
“Not bad, my daughter got full marks again! So, what reward do you want from mom this time?” Li Yiyi asked as she patted her daughter’s head.
“No need, mom. You’ve rewarded me too much already, and none of that is attractive to me anymore,” Jiang Yueyue replied calmly.
Li Yiyi smiled. If anyone else had said this, she would have thought they were being arrogant, but when her daughter said it, she didn’t think so. After all, her daughter’s test papers were full of perfect scores, so she had the right to be a little proud.
“Mom, my sister has something even more amazing, do you want to hear it?” At that moment, Jiang Zhanpeng, with a smug look on his face, approached his mother.
“You promised me you wouldn’t tell!” Jiang Yueyue immediately glared at her little brother.
Jiang Zhanpeng smiled and said, “Sis, this is a good thing. I don’t get why you’re hiding it from dad and mom. If it were me, I’d be telling everyone in the whole neighborhood by now.”
Li Yiyi, hearing this exchange, grew more curious. “Hold on a second, what are you two talking about? The more I listen, the more confused I get. What’s going on?”
“Mom, I’ll tell you. My sister invented something, and now the school has selected it for a competition. If it gets chosen, she’ll be the one to represent,” Jiang Zhanpeng proudly said, raising his little pinky finger.
Li Yiyi quickly turned to her daughter, “Yueyue, why didn’t you tell me about this? What did you invent? Tell mom.”
Jiang Yueyue’s face turned red, and she whispered, “It’s something related to space technology. I was just playing around with it, and I didn’t expect the teacher would submit it for a competition. But there are so many talented people in this world, so my little experiment definitely won’t be chosen.”
Li Yiyi, hearing this, pulled her daughter into a hug. “How could that be? My daughter is amazing, and I believe in your talent.”
Jiang Yueyue, blushing, shyly nodded her head and softly said, “Thank you, mom.”
!!!
Since the matter wasn’t resolved yet, Li Yiyi didn’t want to get her hopes up too much, afraid of burdening her daughter. But when it came to her husband, it was a different story.
That night, as they were about to go to bed, Li Yiyi talked to Jiang Hong about their daughter’s invention.
“Did you hear? Our daughter invented something related to space technology, and the school selected it for a competition,” Li Yiyi said, excitedly.
When Jiang Hong heard this, he was so shocked that his tiredness disappeared in an instant. “Honey, are you sure about this? Do you think our daughter could come up with something like that?”
Jiang Hong was still a bit skeptical, so he asked again to confirm.
Li Yiyi couldn’t help but laugh as she tugged on his ear. “Look at you, getting all shocked. You’re not as calm as our daughter!”
