Chapter 85: Pei Hanchuan: I Trust Her!

Elsewhere.

Pei family compound, study room.

In the spacious and solemn study sat a charming woman in a cheongsam. Her thick, voluminous curls exuded sensuality, while the sharpness hidden in her slightly lowered phoenix eyes created a striking contrast—blending together into an aura so captivating that it was hard to look away.

This woman was none other than Pei Mingzhu, the current head of the Pei family. Even the usually flippant Pei Hanchuan would stiffen up in her presence and respectfully call her “Sister.”

At the moment, in front of Pei Mingzhu lay an ordinary notebook. She flipped through its pages one by one. Each page revealed hand-drawn figures—round-headed little stick figures in different poses.

Pei Mingzhu frowned slightly and asked,

“She said this?”

“Yes, Sister! I swear! That’s exactly what she said.”
Pei Hanchuan looked like he wanted to raise three fingers and swear to the heavens.
“She said Tian Ci’s illness isn’t really a disease—it’s just a matter of natural frailty. No need for medication. All that’s needed is to strengthen his body. She told us to follow the exercises she drew out—Baduanjin and Five Animal Frolics—and practice them daily. Over time, it’ll definitely help.”

As he spoke, Pei Hanchuan nervously stole glances at Pei Mingzhu’s expression, continuing to plead on Chu Yue’s behalf.

“Sister, I studied these little figure movements all night. They look simple—no dangerous actions, no intense physical effort. Tian Ci can definitely handle them. From now on, as long as I’m home, I’ll get up early every day and work out with him.”

Pei Mingzhu lifted her eyes from the notebook and gave Pei Hanchuan a cold, steady gaze.

“You trust her that much?”

By “her,” of course, she meant Chu Yue.

To her surprise, Pei Hanchuan nodded earnestly.

“I do.”

Even though he had only met Chu Yue twice, during those brief encounters—her calm and collected demeanor while saving Pei Tianci, and the quiet confidence she carried the second time—they left a deep impression.

She clearly noticed his fancy clothes, the expensive car, and had every opportunity to demand a hefty reward—a sum the Pei family could easily afford.

But she didn’t.

This unwavering trust from Pei Hanchuan caused a flicker of change in Pei Mingzhu’s expression. She gently opened the notebook again.

Could these simple stick figure drawings really serve as a “prescription” for treating Pei Tianci’s condition?

Because it concerned the child, Pei Mingzhu had to be extremely cautious.

Pei Hanchuan glanced at the clock and asked,

“Sister, where’s Tian Ci? It’s already ten o’clock—he’s still not up?”

“Mm. He was sleeping deeply, so I didn’t wake him.”

At the mention of the child, Pei Mingzhu’s voice was no longer as cold and distant—it now held a trace of almost imperceptible tenderness.

Pei Hanchuan was momentarily stunned. Then his face visibly lit up with excitement.

Due to Pei Tianci’s weak constitution, he often had trouble sleeping—frequent nightmares, cold sweats, and waking up after just a couple of hours. Unlike most children, he never really enjoyed sleeping in.

Especially over the past few days, he had been suffering from a cold and fever. Though drowsy, he kept coughing and sweating—rarely getting restful sleep unless he was cradled in Pei Mingzhu’s arms.

Yet today, even with Pei Mingzhu out of the room, he was still asleep.

Pei Hanchuan thought of a possibility and blurted out,

“Sister! Did you do what I told you? Right here—this pressure point. When you bathed Tian Ci last night, did you try it?”
