Chapter 29
Ji Wanqing looked up at the sound of the voice.
The entrance was backlit, so she could only see that the man was very tall, probably a little over six feet, and looked strong, but she didn’t think he was bulky. He had broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long legs, giving him a slender and upright appearance.
Aunt Zhuge greeted him with extra enthusiasm, “Come, come, come, there aren’t many seats now, just sit with me. Is that okay, Little Ji?”
Ji Wanqing shook her head, “It’s fine.”
Jiang Che noticed the familiar person and walked over quickly, “No need, Aunt, I’m just here to pack some things and leave.”
Hmm, his voice was also very nice.
Low, clear, without any deliberate disguise. She couldn’t imagine how seductive it would be if he breathed in her ear.
Ji Wanqing looked up at him.
He had a high, straight nose with a slight bump on the bridge; his lips were thin but full, and when he spoke, his lower lip slightly touched his lip bead, making them look very soft.
The most stunning thing was his eyebrows and eyes, deep and with a hint of fierceness, but those standard phoenix eyes, with narrow, long, thin double eyelids, somehow neutralized the ruggedness of his other features, adding a touch of handsome elegance.
A dreamboat.
Mom, she’s met the legendary dreamboat!
Just one glance, and Ji Wanqing’s eyes lit up.
Forget about that fiancé, what feudal superstition arranged marriage…
“Little Ji, this is my nephew, Jiang Che. He’s now the battalion commander of our 113th Regiment. He’s young and promising and never flirts with women. If you’re interested, Aunt will be the matchmaker!”
Aunt Zhuge, who was quite old, was very accurate at judging people!
Look at Little Ji, her eyes are glued to him! That look is so sticky, you can’t pull it away. What else could it be if not a mutual attraction!
Ji Wanqing: … A battalion commander named Jiang Che in the 113th Regiment!?
This handsome guy in front of her is her childhood betrothed fiancé!?
Oh my god, what a destined marriage, a perfect match, an unbreakable bond!
Jiang Che frowned, his tone a little helpless, “Aunt, I have a fiancée.”
Aunt Zhuge was annoyed, “Your fiancée said she was coming two years ago, but who knows, she hasn’t even shown up for so long. You’re still stuck in the past, clinging to her. This is delaying your marriage!”
“…” The fiancée who was two years late silently lowered her head and didn’t dare to speak.
Jiang Che, “After the training, I received a call from Instructor Zheng, saying that she had already gotten her introduction letter and was ready to come and get married.”
“Ah?” Aunt Zhuge was dumbfounded.
Oh dear!
Why didn’t she come sooner or later, but chose to come when she was smitten with Little Ji! This is so awkward!
After exchanging a few pleasantries, Jiang Che politely nodded to Ji Wanqing as a greeting, then went to buy food on his own.
Aunt Zhuge comforted her, “It’s okay, Little Ji, there are plenty of fish in the sea. He’s just a good seedling in Aunt’s hands. Aunt knows many talented young men, and I’ll introduce them to you one by one.”
Ji Wanqing’s gaze moved inch by inch across his figure, finally settling on the only exposed skin, the tight, smooth muscles and clearly visible veins and tendons on his forearm.
“No, Aunt, I must marry him.” She was full of confidence.
Aunt Zhuge: “…”
This child doesn’t seem to realize she’s a hopeless romantic.
Forget it.
Little Jiang Che was known in the army for being a handsome monk. The pillar of the art troupe and the granddaughter of Commander Wen couldn’t get close to him. It’s good for Little Ji to go and experience a setback.
She finished her meal in a few bites, Ji Wanqing quickly said goodbye to Aunt Zhuge and ran out after Jiang Che’s figure.
“Comrade Jiang Che!”
Her face was flushed from running, her watery eyes looked at him shyly. If it were any other man, he would have fallen for her already.
But across from her was Jiang Che.
“Hello, what’s the matter?”
Ji Wanqing twisted her fingers, “Can I have your contact information? I… I want to develop a relationship with you that goes beyond revolutionary friendship!”
(Deputy Commander Yan clutched his chest: Those are my words!)
Hearing this, Jiang Che’s face became even colder, “Sorry, I have a fiancée.”
Ji Wanqing quickly stepped forward, “I heard Aunt say that your fiancée left you here for two years without any news. She clearly doesn’t care about you at all. Are you still going to marry her?”
Jiang Che took a few steps back, his brows furrowed, “This is our business, you don’t need to worry about it.”
Ji Wanqing wanted to say something else, but Jiang Che interrupted her, “Alright, comrade! I’m not going to argue with you because you’re a woman. If you keep pestering me, I’ll call the discipline team!”
Tsk tsk.
Such a beautiful woman is expressing her love in front of him, and he’s still unmoved. He’s a good man, this fiancé.
Ji Wanqing’s face still showed the sorrow of unrequited love, “Then tell me, what’s so good about her! You don’t even know her! But you act like you can’t live without her!”
Humph, we haven’t even exchanged a single letter, now let’s see how you spin this!
Jiang Che’s expression was calm, “She’s a high school student.”
“…”
Ji Wanqing was dumbfounded, she even stopped her fake crying, “What?”
Jiang Che took a few more steps back, as if he couldn’t avoid her, “She’s a well-educated and cultured person. She would never do something like harassing a stranger on the street.”
“You do as you please.” He quickly left, as if he was afraid of being chased again.
“…”
Ji Wanqing was shocked.
Ji Wanqing was silent.
Ji Wanqing smirked.
Man, you’ve successfully caught my attention.
Aunt Zhuge, who was watching the show from behind, slowly swayed over and patted Little Ji on the shoulder, “You know why he’s called the handsome monk? Besides being handsome, women can’t get close to him. He’s a complete stick in the mud, he doesn’t understand anything.”
She also comforted her, “You’re such a beautiful girl, every guy in the restaurant blushes when they see you. We can find you a good man, don’t hang yourself on this one, okay?”
Ji Wanqing seductively flipped her hair, “Aunt, how about we make a bet?”
That seductive look made Aunt Zhuge swallow, she pinched her slender waist hard, “You little rascal, you’re flirting with an old lady!”
“Ouch.” Ji Wanqing dodged, laughing and clinging to Aunt’s arm, “What if I marry Comrade Jiang Che? Would you be our wedding witness?”
Aunt Zhuge scoffed, “If you really can win him over, don’t even ask me to be your wedding witness, I’ll ask the commander of our 73rd Division to be your wedding witness, how about that?”
Ji Wanqing’s eyes lit up, “Deal!”
Back at the guest house.
Ji Wanqing quickly packed her luggage, carrying two suitcases to check out.
The girl at the front desk was puzzled, “Hey, Comrade Ji, didn’t you book for six days? Why are you checking out today?”
She smiled shyly, “My fiancé came back early.”
“So the relative you mentioned is your fiancé, congratulations.” The girl at the front desk’s eyes sparkled, she remembered this news and immediately gossiped with the other staff at the guest house after they left.
