Chapter 36
Transported into a Cliche Era Novel
Tie Lanyan entered the room.
The female educated youth room had only one large communal bed, a table, and a wardrobe, making it quite simple.
The communal bed looked quite spacious.
If everyone laid down their bedding side by side, there was actually enough space for four or five people to sleep.
But…
The three existing bedding sets were clearly separated, far apart from each other, taking up the entire communal bed.
There was no space for her, where would she sleep?
After only three seconds of hesitation, Tie Lanyan decided to take matters into her own hands.
She bent down, just about to move the bedding at the back a little to the side.
A cold voice suddenly came from the doorway.
“Who are you? What are you doing with my bedding!”
Soon, a cool figure walked in.
The girl had a frosty face, her brows and eyes were like paintings, and a pair of beautiful eyes glared at Tie Lanyan.
Tie Lanyan: “I’m a new educated youth who arrived today. Comrade Hu Hao arranged for me to stay in this room.”
Tie Lanyan: …
No, why was this person like a powder keg, with such a fiery temper?
She was just moving her own bed, and she would move the others later. What was the difference?
Just as Tie Lanyan was about to retort, another sneering voice came from the doorway.
“Yu Qingqiu, it seems like you’re bullying the newcomer now. The educated youth compound isn’t your home, you don’t get to decide where she sleeps.”
Tie Lanyan: Good, she said what I wanted to say. Applause!
She turned her head and met a bright and beautiful face.
Just as she was about to thank her, another slender figure walked in from outside.
“Oh, what’s going on here? Why are you arguing again? We’re all educated youths who came to the countryside, we should be united!”
Yu Qingqiu gave her a withering look:
“Bai Yanran, shut your mouth. You think you’re so high and mighty, what do you think you are?”
Tie Lanyan raised an eyebrow.
These two sisters had such explosive tempers, they were ready to fight anyone.
But… Yu Qingqiu? Bai Yanran?
These names… they sounded familiar.
“Comrade Han Keer, look, Comrade Yu Qingqiu is saying bad things about me again. I’m so wronged!”
Bai Yanran, with red eyes, complained to Han Keer in a pitiful tone.
Tie Lanyan stumbled, almost falling.
Wait!
Yu Qingqiu? Bai Yanran? Han Keer?
She remembered!
Before the apocalypse came in her previous life,
She once read a novel set in a past era.
She remembered that the female lead’s name was Yu Qingqiu.
As for Bai Yanran and Han Keer, their names were also in the story as the vicious supporting antagonists!
Goodness, could it be that she hadn’t just traveled through time but into the story itself?
Tie Lanyan was completely stunned.
It wouldn’t be so bad if she had entered a normal novel.
The problem was that this was a highly melodramatic story with twisted morals.
The plot was so shocking that it left a deep impression on her.
The title of the book was: “Rebirth in the Seventies: The Beautiful Zhiqing’s Ruthless Revenge.”
Just from the title alone, you could tell it was a revenge story set during the Cultural Revolution.
In her past life, the female lead Yu Qingqiu was a young woman sent to the countryside as part of the “Down to the Countryside” movement. She was sincere and hardworking, known as the “nice girl” of the Zhiqing compound.
Chen Huaijin, the scumbag, and Bai Yanran, her so-called best friend, were both her high school classmates who were sent to the countryside alongside her.
On the surface, Chen Huaijin appeared gentle and refined, but in reality, he was extremely selfish.
He noticed Yu Qingqiu’s feelings for him, so he threw her a few kind gestures, and she fell head over heels.
From then on, she often helped him with the farm work, even washing his clothes and mending his pants.
Everyone assumed Yu Qingqiu had a one-sided crush and mocked her for being a lovesick fool.
Chen Huaijin never explained himself he simply enjoyed the fruits of her labor in silence.
At first, Yu Qingqiu felt a bit heartbroken, but her “good friend” Bai Yanran comforted her.
Bai Yanran told her not to overthink things. After all, Chen Huaijin must have noticed everything she did for him. If he hadn’t made their relationship public, there must’ve been a reason she should be more understanding.
Yu Qingqiu found herself convinced and continued being his devoted fool for two whole years.
Then, the college entrance exam was reinstated after two years.
The entire Zhiqing compound was abuzz with excitement as everyone rushed to sign up for the exam.
After taking the test, Yu Qingqiu felt the time was right to finally make her relationship with Chen Huaijin public.
However, when she went to find him to discuss the matter, she caught him in an embrace with Bai Yanran.
From their conversation, she learned the shocking truth it had all been a scheme from the very beginning.
Chen Huaijin had never liked her. The one he truly loved was Bai Yanran.
To avoid working in the fields and to make things easier for his beloved, he deliberately led Yu Qingqiu on, sweet-talking her and making her willingly shoulder all their burdens.
What hurt the most was that they even plotted to steal her acceptance letter.
Bai Yanran’s grades were poor she would never have gotten into university.
So Chen Huaijin planned to have Bai Yanran use Yu Qingqiu’s name to attend in her place.
The two of them, wrapped in each other’s arms under the grove of trees, plotted their next steps, completely unaware that Yu Qingqiu had heard every word.
The female lead was overwhelmed with rage and rushed over, crying as she questioned them, demanding to know why they treated her that way.
She even threatened to report them to the commune, accusing them of immoral conduct.
As soon as those words left her mouth, Chen Huaijin and Bai Yanran’s expressions darkened they both had sinister thoughts.
In the end, they tricked the female lead into going to the riverside, where they pushed her in. She died unjustly, filled with resentment.
But the moment she died, she was reborn back to the very first day she arrived in the countryside.
Fueled by the hatred from her past life, her temperament changed drastically upon her rebirth.
With flames of revenge burning in her heart, she decided to fight back against the scumbag and the treacherous friend with all her might.
Her first act of revenge? Seducing Chen Huaijin.
Yes, you read that right.
That was the brilliant plan her mind came up with!
Since the scumbag liked her “best friend,” she figured she’d steal him away to make Bai Yanran suffer.
And once Chen Huaijin fell madly in love with her, she’d humiliate him and abandon him, making him suffer the ultimate heartbreak.
Tie Lanyan: …
Wait, this is what you call revenge??
When Tie Lanyan read that part, she had the same bewildered expression as that old man on the subway meme.
The novel continued with the female lead getting entangled in more romantic drama at the Zhiqing compound.
Tie Lanyan strongly suspected the author was obsessed with romance, given how the entire plot revolved around love triangles and emotional drama.
She gave up halfway through it was just too ridiculous.
Curiosity got the better of her, so she skipped ahead to the ending, only to find out the novel had been abandoned due to overwhelming criticism.
Well… looks like everyone shared her opinion.
If she were the female lead, she’d have stuffed those two into sacks, beaten them senseless, and tossed them into the sea to feed the sharks.
Revenge has to be swift and satisfying otherwise, how could you sleep at night?
If those two scumbags crossed her path, they wouldn’t even survive past the first chapter.
But in the novel, the scumbag and the traitor pranced around unpunished for ages and even made it to the end.
The worst part? The story ended abruptly, the female lead never got her revenge, and instead, she ran off to chase some new “true love.”
Seriously… what a letdown.
As Tie Lanyan recalled all this, she looked at Yu Qingqiu with a hint of disappointment.
Sister, you got a second chance at life, and you’re still not using your brain?
What a waste of a perfectly good rebirth!
