Chapter 2: Did They Treat Him Like Air?
The man walked too fast, stepping on the rooster in the net bag.
He stumbled, falling flat on his face, his glasses flying off.
He was highly myopic, and without his glasses, everything was blurry.
The man panicked and searched for his glasses on the ground.
Shen Mengyao helped him look, and finally found them under the seat. She handed the glasses to the man.
Liu Xiaolong put on his glasses and looked excitedly at Shen Mengyao: “Thank you, thank you, you’ve helped me again.”
Xiao Ye saw the excitement and joy in Liu Xiaolong’s eyes, as well as other indescribable emotions. His face instantly darkened: “Who are you?”
Liu Xiaolong only knew that Shen Mengyao was married, but didn’t know who her husband was: “Who are you?”
Shen Mengyao had a headache. She made a stopping gesture: “Stop, both of you, I don’t know either of you.”
On the day of the original owner’s wedding.
She hadn’t even seen the groom.
The groom was urgently summoned to the army.
His departure made the original owner the subject of village gossip.
She couldn’t bear to face anyone, and therefore hated Xiao Ye and blocked all his information.
Therefore, she, inheriting the original owner’s memories, had a blurry and hazy impression of the man’s appearance, as if veiled.
Shen Mengyao’s unfamiliar gaze stung Xiao Ye, but he still didn’t reveal his identity. Instead, he asked Shen Mengyao: “Do you still hate your husband?”
The one who hated her husband was the original owner, not Shen Mengyao: “No, he had his difficulties.”
Xiao Ye’s heart leaped with joy, and he blurted out his identity: “I am your husband, Xiao Ye.”
Only after she stopped hating him did he dare to say his name.
If she still hated him, he was afraid that hearing his name would cause her emotional distress and extreme behavior.
Shen Mengyao searched for a long time before finding this name, but there were many names exactly the same.
She didn’t believe Xiao Ye, but asked him to provide stronger proof: “A name doesn’t prove anything. Show me your introduction letter, or your military ID if you don’t have an introduction letter.”
Xiao Ye took out an identity document from his pocket, signed by his superior, and gave it to Shen Mengyao.
After verifying the information, Shen Mengyao confirmed that the man in uniform was the husband who had abandoned the original owner on their wedding day.
The original owner couldn’t understand Xiao Ye’s actions, but Shen Mengyao could. Military orders were absolute, even if he was unwilling, he had to obey.
After confirming Xiao Ye’s identity, Shen Mengyao’s gaze fell on Liu Xiaolong: “Who are you?”
The original owner’s memories contained no information about him.
Liu Xiaolong saw that Shen Mengyao didn’t recognize him, and a hint of disappointment flashed in his eyes.
However, he was covered in dirt at the time, so it was normal that she didn’t recognize him.
“I’m Liu Xiaolong, Tian Miaomiao’s cousin. I went to Hunan Province to visit relatives.
Miaomiao knew I was on the same train as you and asked me to take care of you.
I saw your photo at Miaomiao’s place, and only then did I realize that you were my savior.”
Shen Mengyao looked puzzled: “I saved you?”
Tian Miaomiao was the original owner’s high school classmate, and they had a good relationship.
Liu Xiaolong nodded vigorously: “Yes, a month ago, I fell into a pond, and you pulled me up with a stick. If it weren’t for you, I would have died.”
An image of the original owner saving someone flashed in Shen Mengyao’s mind: “It was you!”
Seeing that Shen Mengyao remembered, Liu Xiaolong laughed like a child: “Yes, yes, it was me.
Shen Zhi, my brother is also a soldier. Miaomiao said your husband is in the same unit as my brother.
We can look out for each other on the road.”
Xiao Ye: “…”
Did they treat him like air?
“Yaoyao, did you come to the army to find me?”
Shen Mengyao raised an eyebrow: “What do you think?”
Xiao Ye looked apologetic: “Yaoyao, I’m sorry. On our wedding day, my superior called and said there was an urgent mission.
I had no choice but to be absent.”
The one who was upset about this was the original owner, not Shen Mengyao: “It’s all in the past, there’s no point talking about it.”
The one Xiao Ye owed an apology to was the original owner, not her.
As for how they would live in the future.
That depended on Xiao Ye.
If he was a good person and respected women, she might give it a try.
If he disrespected women and was self-righteous, she wouldn’t settle.
As they spoke, Shen Mengyao increasingly felt that the names Xiao Ye, Liu Xiaolong, and Tian Miaomiao were familiar, as if she had seen them before she transmigrated.
After thinking for a while, Shen Mengyao realized that she hadn’t transmigrated, but transmigrated into a book.
She had transmigrated into a cannon fodder female supporting character who only appeared in a few chapters of a period drama she had recently read.
The appearance of the original owner and her husband was to highlight the success of the main characters.
On the train to the army, the original owner was taken hostage by a criminal, and she was scared to death. Xiao Ye also died gloriously in this mission.
The male lead who went on the mission with him was the victor.
He interrogated the criminal, caught the spy, saved the data that was almost stolen by the spy, and was promoted…
Knowing the plot, Shen Mengyao instantly looked at Xiao Ye. Bad luck, if she hadn’t transmigrated and made the criminal less vigilant, he would have been in more danger: “What are you still doing here?
Go interrogate the criminal!”
Xiao Ye still wanted to change Shen Mengyao’s berth, but seeing her urging him, he thought she didn’t like him, and sighed softly: “Okay, I’ll go interrogate the criminal first.”
…
The danger was over.
The passengers returned to their seats.
The timid passengers patted their chests in fear, looking shaken: “My god, it was so scary, thankfully they caught him, otherwise, who knows what would have happened!”
“That criminal was also pitiful!”
“You pity him, who pities us! If it weren’t for that woman’s sharp swordsmanship, she would have been the unlucky one!”
“Yes, we were lucky to only be taken hostage, it was much worse for her!”
These words instantly reminded everyone of Shen Mengyao beating up the criminal.
“It was really terrible, he was almost beaten to a pulp.”
But the terrible one wasn’t the hostage, but the criminal.
Taking her hostage was his calamity.
“If that soldier hadn’t stopped her, I suspect that criminal would have been beaten to death.”
…
As soon as Xiao Ye left, Shen Mengyao found her seat.
The passenger next to her moved her bottom several times in the opposite direction.
Shen Mengyao ignored the other party’s actions and scanned Liu Xiaolong: “Which carriage are you in?”
Liu Xiaolong told her the carriage number.
The passenger next to Shen Mengyao suddenly looked at Liu Xiaolong: “Are you going to sit here? I can switch seats with you.”
Liu Xiaolong didn’t expect such a good thing. He took out his ticket and handed it to the other party: “This is my ticket.”
The woman also took out her ticket and handed it to Liu Xiaolong.
Liu Xiaolong didn’t bring any luggage.
He still had to go back to his original carriage to get his luggage.
The woman who switched seats with him also had to go, so they went together.
“Comrade, are you afraid of Comrade Shen?”
The woman looked surprised: “Didn’t you see her beat someone up?”
The area was cleared before Liu Xiaolong found someone, so he didn’t know the specifics: “I heard from other passengers that there was a criminal in your carriage, and that the criminal was beaten up, but I don’t know the details.”
The woman told Liu Xiaolong everything that happened in the carriage without missing a single detail.
Liu Xiaolong listened.
He almost jumped up.
He should have found Comrade Shen earlier.
So he could have switched seats with Comrade Shen.
“If you ask me, Comrade Shen was too lenient. If it were me, I would have beaten him to death.
I would have beaten him until he cried for his mother, until he couldn’t take care of himself.”
The woman: “…”
Even after being beaten like that, it was still too lenient?
Did she have to beat him to death to vent her anger?
…
In carriage ten, Shen Mengyao ignored everyone’s gazes and closed her eyes to sort through the original owner’s memories.
The original owner was born into a loving family.
She had three older brothers and one younger brother.
She was the only daughter in the family and was very spoiled.
Despite being spoiled, she didn’t develop an arrogant and domineering personality, but instead spoke and acted timidly, with a pleasing personality.
The more Shen Mengyao recalled, the angrier she became.
“Shit!” She was so angry that she even cursed in English.
She really had a good hand, but played it badly.
Liu Xiaolong, who had come to get his luggage, asked with concern: “Comrade Shen, what’s wrong with you?”
Just as Shen Mengyao was about to speak, her whole body suddenly twitched as if electrocuted, her eyes unfocused.
Liu Xiaolong’s face turned pale: “Doctor, doctor, is there a doctor on the train?”
