1970s: The Strongest Military Officer Is Controlled by a Weak and Beautiful Woman Chapter 31

Chapter 31: I Truly Like You

Su Anan stood among her sisters-in-law, arms crossed, watching the drama unfold.

Lu Jingchen punched Zhang Lun again: “Apologize.”

“Ugh!”

The punch was quite forceful, nearly knocking Zhang Lun off his feet, leaving his mouth bleeding.

Ruan Jiaojiao felt a chill run down her spine. She understood that Lu Jingchen was hitting Zhang Lun to make a point to her.

He showed absolutely no mercy.

Looking at Su Anan, who remained casual and calm, even with a mischievous smile on her lips, Ruan Jiaojiao felt a surge of frustration and sadness.

Su Anan’s composure made Ruan Jiaojiao feel utterly incompetent.

She had come to cause trouble, only to get herself into a worse situation.

Just as Zhang Lun was about to speak, Ruan Jiaojiao put her hand on his shoulder, gently shaking her head: “Brother Zhang Lun, I’m sorry, it’s all my fault. This is my problem, don’t worry about it.”

She was careful to protect these “lickspittles.”

She knew when to do what.

“But…” Zhang Lun, bruised and battered with a bloody mouth, looked utterly disheveled, yet still tried to stand up for Ruan Jiaojiao, “It wasn’t your fault, why should you apologize?”

Tears streamed down Ruan Jiaojiao’s face, but she bit her lip, stubbornly looking at Lu Jingchen: “Brother Jingchen, I’m sorry, okay!”

“Apologize to Anan!” Lu Jingchen was also feeling anxious.

His family disapproved of him marrying a girl without a background.

Especially since Su Anan’s parents didn’t care about her.

“Brother Jingchen, do you have to treat me like this? I transferred here from the capital city for you,” Ruan Jiaojiao finally couldn’t hold back her tears, her eyes red and swollen, “You’re treating me like this for this woman.”

“She’s my wife.” Lu Jingchen’s tone was cold and hard, “Apologize!”

Seeing his firm stance, Ruan Jiaojiao knew that if she didn’t want to make things worse, she had to back down. Reluctantly, she said to Su Anan: “I’m sorry! It’s my fault…”

“Alright, I won’t bother with someone as ill-mannered as you.” Su Anan smiled; this woman was very cunning.

She wouldn’t say anything sensible.

So, Su Anan cut her off first.

She didn’t want a direct confrontation with Ruan Jiaojiao.

It would be beneath her.

Then Lu Jingchen spoke again: “If you have any difficulties at work, I’ll help you, but as for your personal life, I can’t help you.” He had to draw a line with Ruan Jiaojiao.

Absolutely no relationship.

Ruan Jiaojiao cried until she hiccuped.

She was stunned.

She couldn’t even find him at work.

She was a medic, not directly under his command.

Feeling increasingly wronged, Ruan Jiaojiao burst into tears.

She didn’t care about appearances anymore.

Zhang Lun had to practically drag her away.

Zhang Lun knew that staying any longer would only make things more embarrassing, and given Ruan Jiaojiao’s feelings for Lu Jingchen, it would only hurt her more.

“Anan!” Lu Jingchen remained calm and frank, “I’m sorry, I caused you trouble. I didn’t know she was transferred here.”

“Mm,” Su Anan replied indifferently, “I’m not afraid of sharing hardship with you, and it’s okay if your parents don’t approve, but if something like this happens again, I might get tired of this life.”

She tried to be as tactful as possible.

After all, Lu Jingchen had handled the situation well.

He always stood by her.

He always considered her feelings.

Lu Jingchen let out a sigh of relief. The problem with Ruan Jiaojiao was easily solved.

He was afraid that Zhang Lun’s words would upset Su Anan.

He planned to tell his parents about this later.

It wasn’t the right time.

“But, my parents can’t represent me.” Lu Jingchen added, “They can’t control me.”

Su Anan looked up at him like a cat: “They probably don’t know that our relationship was a calculated move.”

“Anan, I truly like you.” Lu Jingchen quickly held her shoulders, “I didn’t marry you just out of a sense of responsibility.”

His eyes showed a hint of anxiety.

He was afraid she wouldn’t believe him.
