Su Yi thought to herself that she had the space, so no matter if she was drugged or tied up, she would always find a way to escape.
Therefore, the entire plan only considered how to deal with those people.
She hadn’t thought about her own safety.
In the days since she returned, she had been playing a game of wits with these people every day.
Meeting force with force, and adapting to any situation.
Since she couldn’t rely on anyone else, she had gotten used to being alone, and didn’t really feel anything.
But when Zhou Jinchuan came today, she finally understood what it felt like to be cared about and remembered.
Especially after hearing what Zhou Jinchuan had just said, a sudden wave of inexplicable grievance welled up in her heart.
For so many days, no matter how her family bullied her, she remained indifferent.
But Zhou Jinchuan’s two sentences almost brought tears to her eyes.
Su Yi forced back the tears and smiled brightly, “You haven’t said yet, why did you suddenly come over? Could it be that you really just happened to pass by for a wedding toast?”
Upon hearing her question, Zhou Jinchuan hurriedly cleared his throat and explained, “The children missed you, and there was nothing much happening at the compound, so we came to see you.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Ye Nuannuan added, “Uncle misses you too.”
Immediately, Su Yi noticed that Zhou Jinchuan’s ears visibly turned red.
She couldn’t help but cover her mouth and chuckle.
Zhou Jinchuan glanced at her with the corner of his eye, “What are you laughing at?”
Su Yi looked a bit embarrassed, “It’s nothing.”
Upon arriving in the county, the group had a meal at a state-run hotel.
After they finished eating, Zhou Jinchuan advised Su Yi, “Come back with us. After all, your household registration has already been transferred.”
Su Yi thought for a moment, then shook her head, “I still have some things to take care of here.”
Zhou Jinchuan sighed, “Then tell me what it is, I’ll go take care of it for you.”
Su Yi thought about the things she needed to do, and it was definitely impossible to let a soldier like him get involved.
Plus, she didn’t want him to know about it.
She still wanted to maintain some face in front of Zhou Jinchuan.
So she pretended to be nonchalant and comforted him, “Just some personal matters at home, it’s not something you can get involved in. I’ll go back to the military after I’m done.”
Zhou Jinchuan pursed his lips, not speaking, his eyes full of worry.
Seeing this, Su Yi could only assure him again, “It’s just these two days, at the latest, I’ll take the train back on the first day of the new year.”
“You guys don’t worry, you came to support me this time, so they won’t dare to do anything anymore. Besides, the village head is there too.”
“And you saw it just now, so many people bullying me, a single person, and I didn’t suffer any losses. I even scared them all.”
Thinking back to what happened just now, Zhou Jinchuan shook his head helplessly.
“I was also startled by you, I’ve never seen you so fierce before.”
Su Yi grinned sheepishly, “Actually, I’m not usually that fierce, it’s just that they pushed me to it.”
Although Zhou Jinchuan teased her about being fierce, there was no hint of disdain in his eyes.
Instead, there was a clear look of indulgence and pride.
After finishing their meal, Su Yi advised them to head back early.
Zhou Jinchuan couldn’t refuse her, so he asked her to wait in the car with the child while he quickly went to a nearby shop.
Not long after, he returned with a big bag of snacks and handed it to her.
He also took out a small stack of money from his pocket and handed it to her.
“Take these, make sure you don’t go hungry.”
Su Yi only accepted the snacks and refused the money, “I have money with me, I really don’t need it.”
Zhou Jinchuan looked at her, refusing to be refused, “Take it for emergencies, if you don’t take it, we won’t leave.”
Su Yi had no choice but to accept it.
Next, Zhou Jinchuan drove Su Yi to the entrance of the village.
Getting out of the car, Su Yi quickly waved to them, “Go back quickly! Drive slowly on the road!”
Zhou Jinchuan, despite wanting to stay, had no choice but to leave.
Su Yi watched as the car slowly disappeared from her sight.
After a while, she felt her eyes getting a little sore.
However, even though it was just a brief meeting, Su Yi felt a sudden surge of confidence in her heart.
She had been nearly drained, but now she was suddenly filled with energy.
She felt like she could do it again.
She turned around and strode towards the village.
In the courtyard of the Su family, Su Erqiang lay on the wall and saw Su Yi returning. Several people hid in the house before Su Yi could enter.
They didn’t know if the leader who was backing Su Yi was still nearby, so they didn’t dare to make any noise.
They could only close the door early and go to sleep, waiting to figure out the situation tomorrow before making any plans.
On the other side, at the Qin family, the courtyard was in a state of disarray, but no one had the heart to clean up.
Bai Ruolin had been hiding in the house since she was exposed at the banquet for cleaning the toilet, refusing to come out.
Qin Yunfeng’s mother was already furious, and seeing that she wouldn’t come out to help clean up.
She couldn’t help but stand in the courtyard and scold, “Do you really think you are a young lady? You can do the work of cleaning toilets outside, but you can’t do the housework?”
Qin Yunfeng wanted to go and persuade her, but Qin Yunfeng’s mother directly retorted.
“There’s so much work to be done at home, she hides in the house and doesn’t come out to help, do you want to work my old mother to death?”
Qin Yunfeng had nothing to say and could only silently lower his head and work.
Bai Ruolin stood in the room, her ears pricked, listening. She saw that Qin Yunfeng wasn’t going to speak up for her.
She was so upset that she couldn’t stop crying.
She grew to hate Su Yi even more, wishing she could skin her alive and drink her blood!
Similarly, she was too lazy to deal with her mother-in-law, and just wanted to get through the New Year and leave this hellhole.
Qin Yunfeng’s mother worked outside, cursing as she went, but soon her strength gave out.
She also hated her daughter-in-law to the core.
But what angered her the most was Su Yi, the little vixen who had made her lose face in front of the whole village!
She thought about how she had been a widow for half her life in the village, and never earned a bad reputation.
Yet, she had been slandered by a little girl.
She was so angry that she gritted her teeth and vowed to make her life miserable!
Qin Yunfeng’s mother didn’t sleep a wink all night, tossing and turning in bed.
The next morning, she immediately got dressed and went to her cousin’s house, which was several miles away, to try and persuade him to come back.
Her cousin, Li Er, immediately waved his hand and refused, “Forget it, I was crazy yesterday to listen to you. I almost didn’t make it back in one piece!”
Qin Yunfeng’s mother solemnly assured him, “I’ve checked, that so-called battalion commander left yesterday. And he was just passing through, not here to specifically support that dead girl.”
Li Er was skeptical, “Are you sure?”
“Absolutely!” Qin Yunfeng’s mother readily agreed, “That vixen has no family background, she’s just a kitchen helper. How could a battalion commander be interested in her?”
Li Er pondered for a while, his eyes gradually brightening.
Seeing that he was tempted again, Qin Yunfeng’s mother added fuel to the fire, “There’s no hope of a bride swap with the Su family now. If you’re willing to pay a little more, I guarantee you can marry her. You’ve always had your eye on that girl, are you really willing to let her go?”
Li Er chuckled, “Of course I’m not willing to let her go. It’s just that I saw yesterday that she has a strong personality, and I’m worried that even if her family agrees, she won’t.”
