“Su Yi had originally planned to only stay for one day, but on the second day, Zhou Jinchuan found another reason to keep her.
Then came the third day, the fourth day…
Thankfully, the courtyard was always quiet during the New Year period. Plus, Su Yi hardly went out, so almost no one saw her.
Except for Auntie Yao next door.
Su Yi knew she couldn’t hide it from her, and their relationship was very close. Su Yi considered her like a sister, so she went to visit her, taking the opportunity to tell her the truth about her relationship with Zhou Jinchuan.
Auntie Yao clapped her hands in delight, “Actually, when you both came back that day, I guessed it. Commander Zhou’s eyes were completely different from before.”
“But I didn’t expect Commander Zhou to go so far to find you, and he waited for you there all that time. He usually seems so serious, but when it comes to relationships, he’s even more impulsive than my husband!”
Su Yi couldn’t help but chuckle, then quickly added, “Auntie Yao, don’t tell your husband about this, or else…”
Before Su Yi could finish her sentence, Auntie Yao quickly patted her hand, “I know, men need their pride, don’t worry!”
“The days leading up to the New Year were quite leisurely.
The sun was also very nice.
For the past couple of days, Su Yi was either taking the children to visit the neighbors next door or staying home in the yard, soaking up the sun and making delicious food.
Sometimes, she would also direct Zhou Jinchuan to till the vegetable patch in the yard, getting it ready for planting when the weather warmed up.
Life was very relaxed.
However, before the holiday ended, Su Yi cleaned her dormitory inside and out, taking out the bedding and blankets to wash and dry.
She was ready to move back in at any time.
That day, Zhou Jinchuan had to go to the office to take care of some business.
Su Yi was idle at home, so she decided to go to town for a stroll, and also look for a suitable storefront.
Ye Xiaowu and Nuannuan had been cooped up at home for a few days and were clamoring to go along.”
“The northwest wind was strong, so Su Yi had the two children put on their hats. Then, the three of them walked towards town together.
Just as they reached the gate of the courtyard, they saw two familiar figures from afar, walking towards them one after the other.
Squinting her eyes, Su Yi took a closer look. Wasn’t that Qin Yunfeng and Bai Ruolin?
Why were they back so early?
And looking at the distance between them, it seemed like they had had a falling out?
Su Yi didn’t intend to pay any attention to them, nor did she plan to avoid them.
She continued walking towards the gate.
However, as they passed by, Qin Yunfeng deliberately walked in front of Su Yi to greet her.
Su Yi didn’t even give him a glance.
Seeing this, Qin Yunfeng immediately spoke up, “Don’t you want to know what happened at home?”
“Su Yi chuckled lightly, “Not really.”
Qin Yunfeng pursed his lips and said directly, “On New Year’s Eve, I searched everywhere for you but couldn’t find you. Later, I found out that you had come back.”
“After you left, your older brother went back not long after. Your parents wanted him to pay to replace everything that was lost in the house. Your sister-in-law and her family found out and went to make a scene early on the first day of the New Year. Your parents are now forcing your older brother to divorce your sister-in-law.”
“The family is in chaos. Your second brother’s marriage is completely off. He wanted to go to the Sun family to explain, but they beat him up and he’s in the hospital.”
Su Yi stood there listening, and couldn’t help but click her tongue in her heart.
She thought Su’s parents would be too exhausted to cause any more trouble.
But they actually managed to force the eldest couple to divorce!
However, it was none of her business anymore. No matter how much chaos they created, she would just listen and that’s it.
Just as Su Yi was continuing to walk forward with her two children,
Qin Yunfeng suddenly turned around and caught up, “Xiao Yi, things haven’t been easy at our house these past few days either. My mother and Ruolin have been fighting every day. I haven’t had a moment of peace. I’ve made up my mind. I’m going to divorce Bai Ruolin this time I’m back.”
“I was wrong before, terribly wrong. I hope I can have another chance to make amends. This time, I will make sure everything goes back to normal.”
Then, he looked at Su Yi with a pleading expression, “Please.”
Su Yi wanted to curse, but she thought it would be inappropriate to swear in front of the kids.
She was trying to figure out what to say.
Then she heard Ye Xiaowu, hands on his hips, say, ” Vice Commander Qin, you don’t know, do you? Big Sister Su is now Uncle Zhou’s girlfriend. She’ll be our aunt in the future!”
Qin Yunfeng looked up at Su Yi in disbelief, “How is that possible? Commander Zhou, how could he possibly…”
Before he could finish his sentence, Zhou Jinchuan’s voice came from behind, “I’m not you! Why would it be impossible?”
Then, he walked over to Su Yi and stood beside her.
He naturally took her hand, his face slightly aggrieved, “You three went out without me? Didn’t we agree to go shopping together?”
Su Yi pulled at the corner of her lips and smiled, “I thought you were busy.”
“I’m done now. Let’s go shopping together?”
Su Yi readily nodded and was pulled out the gate by him.
The four figures grew smaller and smaller in the distance, but Qin Yunfeng remained standing in the distance, unable to believe what he was seeing.
It was all true.
……
After arriving in town, Su Yi and her group of four strolled along the main street.
They walked, shopped, and kept an eye out for storefronts along the way.
The town’s market had now fully reopened, and there were quite a few people coming to do business.
However, there were very few shops actually open.
It was probably because it was just starting, and no one was sure what the future held. They didn’t dare invest too much money at once.
Also, there weren’t any real estate agents at this time, so renting houses and storefronts could only be done through word of mouth and introductions.
Zhou Jinchuan took the group around for a while, then stopped by the roadside and bought each of the children a string of candied hawthorn.
While paying, he asked the vendor where he could find a storefront to rent.
As he spoke, he looked at the rack for a long time, then carefully selected a string and handed it to Su Yi.
Su Yi hadn’t reacted before he shoved it into her hand.
Seeing that he was still asking around, she obediently walked alongside the two children, eating her candied hawthorn.
After a while, although he had found a place, when they went to take a look, they weren’t very satisfied.
Just as Su Yi was feeling troubled, she suddenly heard someone calling her name from the side of the road.
Su Yi looked over in surprise, and saw that the voice was coming from the gatekeeper of the bus station.
She immediately remembered the old gatekeeper she had met while selling tea eggs at the bus station entrance.
She quickly walked over and cheerfully wished him a happy New Year.
The man had a strong impression of Su Yi. “Girl, you’re finally here. I was just looking for a chance to tell you. There are more and more people selling food at the entrance of our bus station. You should come back and sell tea eggs. I’ll save you a spot.”
“People who have tried your tea eggs always ask me when they come to take the bus, why haven’t I seen you selling tea eggs anymore?”
Su Yi couldn’t help but smile sweetly. She didn’t expect that after all this time, people would still remember her tea eggs.
“Grandpa, I’m not selling tea eggs anymore. I’m planning to do something else.”
The gatekeeper was about to ask her what she was going to do, but when he looked up, he saw the man standing beside Su Yi.
He immediately forgot about asking anything else. “Is this your man? He’s quite handsome.”
