Bai Ruolin, though feeling regret, showed no remorse.
Su Yi raised an eyebrow, “Speak. What do you want to say to me?”
Bai Ruolin stared intently at Su Yi, “If I told you I was reborn, would you believe me?”
Su Yi smirked, “So? Did I offend you in my past life, causing you to plot against me so meticulously in this life?”
“What are you saying?” Bai Ruolin looked at her incredulously, “You believe me? I told Qin Yunfeng and Zhou Jinchuan about this, and they both said I was crazy.”
Bai Ruolin muttered, then suddenly thought of something.
Bai Ruolin quickly looked up at Su Yi, “So, you’re reborn too, right? It must be, otherwise you wouldn’t be so cold to Qin Yunfeng this life, and you wouldn’t be so lucky every time—”
Su Yi directly scoffed and interrupted, “They’re right, you really are crazy! And pretty seriously crazy!”
“If you weren’t reborn, how could you be so lucky this life?” Seeing Su Yi’s calm expression, not at all like someone who had been hit by the truth, Bai Ruolin couldn’t help but doubt again.
Thinking for a moment, she couldn’t help but laugh bitterly, “Forget it, none of this matters to me, even if I was reborn, so what? I’m living worse than my last life, at least in my last life—”
Su Yi had no patience to listen to her rambling, interrupting, “Instead of complaining about fate, you should think about where you went wrong. Now you have plenty of time to reflect on it inside.”
Bai Ruolin laughed when she heard this, “Ten years? You make it sound so easy, I’ll be over thirty when I get out! What future will I have left in life!”
“Su Yi, I know you’re probably feeling very smug now, but don’t get too cocky. I remember telling you that you’ll never get into the Zhou family, don’t even dream about it this life—”
Su Yi impatiently interrupted her again, “Are you done yet? I’ve heard enough, can’t you say something I haven’t heard before?”
Bai Ruolin’s eyes rolled, and she casually smiled, “There is one thing, you don’t know yet, do you? Zhou Jinchuan has a fiancée in Beijing.”
“A fiancée?” Su Yi looked at her suspiciously, then laughed, “That’s impossible.”
As a reader of the original book, she was still aware of this.
Bai Ruolin added fuel to the fire, “Even if it’s not a fiancée, it’s a childhood sweetheart, anyway, she’s the Zhou family’s designated daughter-in-law, you’ll find out later.”
“Time’s up—”
As soon as Bai Ruolin finished speaking, the visitation time was up, and she was immediately taken away.
Before leaving, Bai Ruolin turned her head and looked at Su Yi with a sense of dissatisfaction, “Believe it or not, it’s up to you. If you don’t believe me, go back and ask Zhou Jinchuan yourself, but whether he’ll tell you the truth is another matter!”
Although Su Yi didn’t believe Bai Ruolin’s words, when she came out, she couldn’t help but think back to the plot of the original book.
If it was a fiancée, then it was probably Bai Ruolin deliberately saying it to provoke her.
But a childhood sweetheart, it seemed like there was one?
But because the plot was not much, she had no impression.
When Su Yi got back in the car, Zhou Jinchuan saw that she was still in a daze, so he hurriedly asked, “Did she say something to you?”
Su Yi looked at Zhou Jinchuan with a deep meaning, then nodded, “Yeah, she did.”
“What did she say?”
“She said you have a fiancée in Beijing.”
Zhou Jinchuan had already started the car and was just driving out of the gate when he heard Su Yi say this, he was so startled that he slammed on the brakes.
Su Yi was unprepared and slammed forward.
Fortunately, Zhou Jinchuan was quick-witted and quickly reached out to grab her.
“Sorry, did I hit you?”
Su Yi was also startled, she smiled, “No, what’s wrong with you? Did Bai Ruolin hit the nail on the head, you really have a fiancée in Beijing?”
Zhou Jinchuan looked at her with a serious face, “Of course not!”
Su Yi raised an eyebrow, “Then is there any female classmate you’ve been close to? Or someone your family arranged for you, or a childhood sweetheart—”
Zhou Jinchuan’s face darkened, “I never got close to any female classmates when I was in school, and although my family has been urging me to go back for blind dates, I haven’t met any of them, let alone any so-called ‘close friends’.”
“As for childhood sweethearts, I’ve always been a bit of a loner, I don’t even have many male friends, let alone girls? How could I have a childhood sweetheart?”
Su Yi nodded half-believingly, “Sure? If you don’t confess now, when we get to Beijing and I find out, it’s not going to be pretty.”
Zhou Jinchuan nodded seriously, “I’m sure.”
Seeing him so certain, Su Yi also guessed what was going on.
There was probably someone, but only in Bai Ruolin’s mind was she considered a so-called “childhood sweetheart” rival.
In Zhou Jinchuan’s mind, she wasn’t.
However, she didn’t really take it seriously, she said it just to tease him.
She didn’t expect him to be so serious.
Zhou Jinchuan saw that she wasn’t speaking, so he continued to add, “You can’t believe what Bai Ruolin said, when we’re done with this, we’ll go to Beijing together, and then you’ll see for yourself.”
Su Yi nodded and smiled, “Alright.”
After returning from the county town, Su Yi and Zhou Jinchuan separated and went about their own business.
However, after Su Yi went back and talked to the others for a while, she was about to put on her apron and help in the kitchen when Zhou Jinchuan called.
Xu Xiaoqin smirked and handed the phone to Su Yi, teasing, “You just parted ways, and Commander Zhou’s call came so quickly?”
Su Yi shyly glanced at her, then answered, “What’s wrong?”
Zhou Jinchuan heard Su Yi’s voice and immediately explained, “The village chief just called me.”
It turned out that Zhou Jinchuan had just returned to the army when he heard that someone claiming to be the village chief of Shigou Village had called him.
Zhou Jinchuan was about to ask Xie Xiaojun if he had left any message or phone number, when the phone on his desk rang again.
He picked it up and listened, and it was indeed the village chief calling again.
Zhou Jinchuan saw that he had called twice, and his tone was so urgent, he hurriedly asked what was going on.
Upon inquiry, he learned that a few days ago, Bai Ruolin had sent a telegram to the Su family and also wrote a letter back.
Although they didn’t know the specific content, they felt that it couldn’t be anything good.
After all, Bai Ruolin and the Su family had no connection, even if they sent a telegram, it should have been sent to the Qin family, why would they send it to the Su family for no reason?
Moreover, the Su family disappeared immediately after receiving the letter.
The villagers said they took the train to another place.
The village chief thought it might be related to Su Yi, so he specially called to give her a heads up.
