1980s: The Scheming Officer Fell for Me After Reading My Mind Chapter 150

Chapter 150: Severing Ties

Su Yi saw that Zhou Jinchuan was genuinely jealous, and she couldn’t help but burst out laughing.

“What are you laughing at?”

“I didn’t expect you to be jealous of him? Even if all the men in the world died, there’s no way I’d be with him.”

Zhou Jinchuan listened, and the corners of his lips began to rise uncontrollably.

As they were talking, the four Su family members had quietly pushed the cart to the front of the hotel.

Zhou Jinchuan quickly made a shushing gesture with his finger, then stared intently at their movements.

They reached the front of the hotel, looked around furtively, and seeing no one around, they began to quietly sneak in through the window.

After they entered, the door was opened.

The four of them all scurried inside.

Some pried open the lock, some took money, and some carried the television.

Su Yi’s original plan only involved stealing money, but she didn’t expect that they would also have their eyes on the television.

“The television is temporarily stored in the shop by Jiang Yuan and Liu Zi, how dare they?”

Zhou Jinchuan paused, “Let them carry it.”

Su Yi immediately understood and silently gave Zhou Jinchuan a thumbs-up.

The four of them quickly ran back and forth twice, carrying all the televisions downstairs.

Then they quietly closed the door and slipped away.

Their speed made Su Yi exclaim in admiration.

They were all lazier than each other when doing chores at home, but now they were carrying televisions, their feet seemed to have wheels.

The four of them worked in perfect coordination, Su Erqiang was responsible for pulling the cart, while Zhang Guilan and Su Xingfa pushed the cart from the sides.

Su Sanhu was leading the way and keeping watch ahead.

Once the four of them reached the main road, Zhou Jinchuan leisurely drove the cart out from its hidden spot.

They all ran with the cart towards the direction of the county town, not daring to stop and rest.

They sprinted non-stop for half an hour, getting closer and closer to entering the town.

Suddenly, several police cars came from the front, whizzing towards them as they ran.

The four of them were terrified and panicked, running in the opposite direction without hesitation.

As they ran, they encountered a jeep blocking the road from behind.

Feeling trapped, the four of them still couldn’t bear to leave the televisions on the cart.

Even as they tried to escape, each person held onto a television and ran into the fields.

After running on the dark road for a while, carrying the televisions, they didn’t get far before the police caught up to them and tackled them to the ground.

With the people and the stolen goods in tow, they were all taken to the county public security bureau.

Upon arrival, the police officers directly searched Su Xingfa and found a small package, which they handed over to Su Yi, saying, “Is this from your shop?”

Su Yi took a look and pulled out a receipt from inside, “Yes, we closed early today and didn’t have time to tally the accounts. We planned to check this receipt and money together tomorrow morning, and the amount roughly matches.”

Su Xingfa and the others had initially planned to insist that the money was theirs.

However, they were surprised to find a receipt wrapped up with the money.

When they took the money earlier, they hadn’t noticed the receipt at all.

With the receipt as evidence, the police quickly confirmed that the group had indeed stolen money from the shop and had taken several televisions out of the store.

Unable to escape the situation, Su Xingfa insisted that the money and televisions were given to them by Su Yi.

“It was this stubborn girl who gave us this money as a gift, and she also brought these televisions from who knows where, saying she wanted us to help sell them in the county!”

Su Yi couldn’t help but laugh at their claims, “I gave you these as gifts for you to sell? Why didn’t you take them in broad daylight? Why sneak around at night and run all the way to the county?”

“My shop’s doors and windows were all pried open, and the cash register was tampered with. Besides, these people were causing trouble in my shop yesterday, and many customers saw it. Did you think the police wouldn’t investigate?”

Su Yi’s words left the four members of the Su family dumbfounded.

Before they even entered the interrogation room, they all confessed.

“We were carrying what she gave us, but we are her real parents. Is it illegal to take things from our own daughter?”

Realizing the family relationship involved, the police officer asked Su Yi again, “Now that the items have been recovered, do you want to settle this privately or proceed with legal action?”

Upon hearing the possibility of a reversal, the four of them pleaded with Su Yi, “Xiao Yi, you wouldn’t really send your own parents to jail, would you? If others found out, they would only say you are ruthless.”

Su Yi glanced at the four of them, then turned to the police officer, “Officer, can I discuss with them privately first?”

“Sure.”

Zhou Jinchuan, having received the signal, also prepared to leave, “I’ll be waiting outside. Call me if you need anything.”

After everyone else left, Su Yi pulled out a document she had prepared beforehand from her pocket.

“I can choose not to pursue the theft, but only if you sign this document. After that, we’ll be even and have nothing to do with each other!”

Su Xingfa and Zhang Guilan couldn’t read, so they quickly asked Su Erqiang to read it for them.

The document clearly stated in bold letters: “Agreement to Sever Parent-Child Relationship.”

Su Erqiang hadn’t even finished reading it when Su Xingfa and Zhang Guilan were so angry that they jumped up to hit Su Yi.

Su Yi dodged to the side, “Are you sure you want to hit someone in the police station?”

“You can refuse to sign this document, but don’t even think about getting any benefits from me. The theft is settled!”

The two of them immediately stopped their hands, “We raised you for twenty years, and now that you’ve grown up and are capable, we haven’t enjoyed any benefits, and you want to sever ties with us? Forget it! Don’t even think about it!”

Su Yi didn’t get angry. She directly took back the agreement, “Suit yourselves. Sign it if you want, but even if you don’t, don’t even think about getting anything good from me.”

“I forgot! You don’t have a chance to gain anything anymore.  Now all four of you can go to jail together.  It’s a pity for your eldest son.  If his factory finds out that his parents and brother are thieves, I wonder if he can keep his job?”

“It’s also a pity for Erqiang and Sanhu. They’re still young and haven’t found wives yet, and now they’re going to jail. I wonder if they can find wives after they get out?”

Su Yi clicked her tongue, then walked towards the door.

Just as her hand reached out to open the door, she heard Su Xingfa shout from behind, “Stop! Come back!”

Su Yi turned around and smiled, “What’s wrong?”

Su Xingfa stomped his foot in anger, “Sign, we’ll sign!”

“But we can’t read, let Erqiang sign for us.”

Su Yi snorted and pulled out a pen from her pocket, poking it against their fingers.

The two of them didn’t react immediately, but when they did, they cried out in pain.

“Shut up! If you don’t sign, I might change my mind later, and then I won’t be able to save your sons!”

The old couple gritted their teeth and pressed their fingerprints.

After getting their signatures, Su Yi forced Su Erqiang and Su Sanhu to sign as well.

Then she lightly shook the agreement, folded it, and put it in her pocket.

“Wait, I’ll go out and talk to the police officers.”

With that, she walked out.
