The moment the things were spread out, the room was in a mess, with no space to step.
Su Yi quickly asked Xiao Wu to take Nuannuan home with him.
Sending the two of them to the door, Su Yi thought for a moment and instructed Ye Xiaowu, “Call your Uncle Zhou later and tell him he can move back today. It will save you two from being afraid at night.”
Ye Xiaowu looked up at Su Yi, “Sister Su, why don’t you call Uncle Zhou directly? Did the two of you have a fight?”
Su Yi pulled at the corner of her mouth and smiled, “No, I was just too busy and forgot.”
Ye Xiaowu nodded thoughtfully and agreed to leave.
That night, Su Yi, who had been busy all day, washed up and lay in bed.
Looking at the unfamiliar and quiet room, she suddenly felt a little uncomfortable.
She was used to living with the two children, and it was always lively. Every night, they would chatter until they went to sleep.
Especially every night, she could sleep with Nuannuan, who was soft and cuddly.
Now sleeping alone, she really couldn’t adapt.
She closed her eyes and lay still for a while, but her mind became clearer and clearer.
Just as Su Yi was tossing and turning, unable to sleep, a sudden knock on the door came from outside.
Su Yi was startled and quickly asked who it was. Then, the next second, she heard Xiao Wu and Nuannuan’s voices.
“It’s so late, why are you two here?”
“Nuannuan cried and wanted to find you. She wouldn’t sleep no matter how much Uncle Zhou and I coaxed her.”
Su Yi quickly picked up Nuannuan and glanced at the corridor, “It’s so dark outside, are you two the only ones here?”
Ye Xiaowu quickly pointed downstairs, “Uncle Zhou is waiting downstairs.”
Su Yi hummed in response and quickly scanned downstairs.
She saw a familiar figure standing under the streetlight. Sensing something, he was about to look up in this direction.
Su Yi quickly averted her eyes, her heart skipping a beat.
“I know, it’s too late, you go back quickly, Nuannuan will sleep with me tonight.”
Saying that, she hurriedly carried Nuannuan back into the room.
Closing the door, Su Yi poured some hot water into the basin and washed Nuannuan’s face.
Then, she couldn’t help but laugh, “Look at yourself, which looks better, the way you cried like a little kitten just now, or the way you are now, clean and white?”
Nuannuan also smiled shyly, “Nuannuan missed sister, I couldn’t sleep, so I couldn’t help but cry.”
Su Yi lovingly scratched her nose, “You, you’re about to start preschool, don’t you worry about your brother and uncle laughing at you?”
Saying that, she held Nuannuan in her arms and snuggled up to her.
Nuannuan giggled, “Uncle said I can come and find my sister.”
“Hmm, what else did Uncle say?”
“Uncle also said that everyone needs to learn to adapt.”
Su Yi hummed in agreement, that was true.
Not only the children, but she herself needed to adapt slowly.
After tossing and turning all night, she woke up the next day to a bright sky.
Su Yi, who had overslept, quickly woke up Ye Nuannuan, who was still asleep, “Nuannuan, aren’t you supposed to go register today?”
As she spoke, a knock came from outside the door.
It was Ye Xiaowu coming to pick up Nuannuan.
Su Yi quickly got dressed and opened the door.
She saw Ye Xiaowu holding two lunchboxes in his hand, “Uncle asked me to pick up Nuannuan, this is breakfast that Uncle packed.”
Su Yi hummed in agreement, then quickly helped Ye Nuannuan get dressed, wash her face, and tie her hair.
“Sister Su, do you want to go with us to register Nuannuan later?”
Su Yi paused, “Is your Uncle Zhou going?”
Xiao Wu nodded, “Uncle Zhou is waiting downstairs.”
Su Yi quickly sped up, “Then I won’t go, I have to go to the canteen. You come to the canteen at noon, I’ll make sweet and sour pork for you.”
Saying that, she quickly stuffed a bun into Ye Nuannuan’s hand, “Go quickly, don’t be late for registration.”
There was a strong wind last night.
When Su Yi went out, she could clearly feel that the weather was much cooler.
Autumn was really coming.
Xu Xiaoqin said that autumn in the Northwest is very short, and in a few days, they might need to wear thick clothes.
At noon, there were significantly fewer people coming to order cold dishes than in the summer.
Xu Xiaoqin and Zhang Tianhua were so worried that they couldn’t even eat their meat.
“Sister Su Yi, think of a way! It’s like this now, how are we going to survive the winter?”
“Yeah, Chef Wang said we might as well forget about stir-frying.”
Su Yi felt it was time, so she asked Zhang Tianhua to go to the warehouse, “I remember there was a pile of dusty clay pots when I went to get supplies last time, do you remember?”
Zhang Tianhua thought for a moment and realized, “I know, I even asked about it last time. They said they only use them once during the Spring Festival reception, and there’s no chance to use them otherwise, so they just sit there gathering dust.”
Su Yi nodded, “Then go ask if you can borrow a few. Let’s try making a few clay pot dishes.”
Zhang Tianhua agreed and went out, “I’ll go ask. There are so many, they should give us a few.”
Probably because those things were useless just sitting there, the warehouse readily gave Zhang Tianhua a few to take back.
Su Yi, seeing that she had gotten them, prepared the ingredients with Xu Xiaoqin.
Xu Xiaoqin looked at the bean curd sheets, bean sprouts, and black fungus potatoes in the basin and couldn’t help but wonder, “Aren’t you making clay pot dishes? These are still the ingredients for cold dishes?”
Su Yi smiled, “Wash some cabbage and soak some noodles, you’ll know when it’s done.”
When the clay pot was bubbling away, Su Yi added some of the leftover meat from the midday sales.
“Tianhua, go call Master Ma over, say I have something to discuss with him.”
Zhang Tianhua was watching the boiling clay pot with great interest, when he suddenly heard that he had to call Master Ma.
He immediately understood and grinned as he ran out, “Okay! I guarantee I’ll get him here.”
Master Ma was resting when Zhang Tianhua suddenly came to get him, urging him to come.
As he walked, he muttered, “What good thing is there? So secretive.”
Zhang Tianhua laughed, “There’s something delicious, you’ll know when you get there.”
As they spoke, they had already arrived at the small kitchen where the three of them worked.
“Yo, what smells so fragrant?”
Su Yi had just finished making her chili oil and was about to scoop some into the clay pot when she saw Master Ma coming. She smiled and asked, “Master Ma, can you eat spicy food?”
Master Ma was confused, but he answered truthfully, “As long as it’s not too spicy, I can handle it.”
Su Yi smiled, “Then just a little spicy.”
Saying that, she used tongs to take the clay pot off the stove.
“Master Ma, I specially invited you to come and help us taste it. Your hometown people’s tongues are the best in our canteen.”
Master Ma was a little embarrassed by the praise. He glanced at the clay pot on the table and was immediately drawn to it.
Although the pot was off the fire, it was still boiling as if it were rolling.
Inside were all kinds of colorful vegetables, topped with bright red chili oil and emerald green garlic sprouts.
Just looking at it made one’s mouth water—
“This is the new dish you were talking about?”
