Su Yi carefully wrapped the things she had taken out and placed them in front of Zhou Jinchuan.
Seeing him sitting motionless, it seemed he had no intention of leaving.
She didn’t feel comfortable directly asking him to go back.
So she poured him a glass of water and handed it to him, casually reminding him about taking care of the children.
Zhou Jinchuan originally intended to deliver the things and go back, but once he sat down, he didn’t want to leave.
Rarely did she nag and talk so much, he found it incredibly enjoyable.
He kept a faint smile on his face as he looked at her.
Su Yi felt a little embarrassed under his gaze and asked with a stiff smile, “It’s getting late—”
Zhou Jinchuan nodded, “Indeed, I’ve been busy all day and haven’t eaten yet, it’s almost dinner time.”
Hearing him mention dinner, Su Yi realized she hadn’t eaten lunch either.
She only ate two bananas.
Now, she was also feeling a little hungry.
Zhou Jinchuan guessed her thoughts and said, “Let’s go, I’ll take you out to eat. After we eat, I should go back!”
Then, he went out first.
Su Yi quickly grabbed her coat and followed him out.
The guesthouse was just a few steps away from a state-owned restaurant.
Su Yi originally thought he would go there to eat, but Zhou Jinchuan walked straight past it.
“There’s a new private restaurant up ahead, let’s try it.”
Hearing it was a private restaurant, Su Yi’s eyes lit up.
She was planning to open a small restaurant outside next year, so this was a good opportunity to learn from the big city.
The two walked a little further and indeed saw a restaurant with a new sign at a crossroads.
It was just dinner time, and there was a steady stream of people entering the restaurant.
After they entered and found a table, someone immediately came over with a menu.
Not only was the service good, but the dishes were also more varied than those at the state-owned restaurant.
Zhou Jinchuan took the menu from the waiter and handed it to Su Yi.
“Order whatever you want.”
Su Yi looked through the menu from beginning to end and, after discussing with Zhou Jinchuan, ordered one meat dish and one vegetable dish, saying, “I don’t eat much at night.”
Zhou Jinchuan took the menu and added a hand-pulled lamb dish and a water basin lamb dish, then ordered meat-filled buns and osmanthus cake.
“That’s too much, we won’t finish it all.”
“It’s fine, we rarely come out. The lamb here is famous, you should try it.”
“…”
After the waiter left, he soon brought over a steaming plate of osmanthus cake.
Zhou Jinchuan pushed the plate towards her, “Try it quickly.”
Su Yi was already hungry, and smelling the sweet aroma, she didn’t hesitate to pick up a piece and eat it.
“Mmm, it’s delicious, you try it too. Should we pack the rest to take back for the kids to try?”
Zhou Jinchuan smiled softly and also picked up a piece to taste.
It was indeed sweet and delicious.
The remaining dishes were soon served one after another.
At first, Su Yi was a little embarrassed, but as she ate, she gradually relaxed.
Just then, two more diners walked into the restaurant.
It was not someone else but Jiang Yuan and Liu Zi, whom Su Yi had encountered while shopping today.
Since Liu Zi had escorted Su Yi back to the guesthouse, Jiang Yuan had been filled with regret.
As soon as Liu Zi returned, Jiang Yuan immediately asked her which guesthouse Su Yi was staying at.
Deciding to give up on business for the day, he drove with Liu Zi to find the guesthouse.
However, they waited outside the guesthouse for a long time but didn’t see anyone coming out.
The guesthouse staff, seeing that the two of them didn’t look like respectable people, refused to disclose which room Su Yi was staying in.
Hungry and frustrated, Liu Zi suddenly had an idea, “It’s dinner time now, maybe she went out nearby to eat?”
So, the two of them hurriedly went to the state-owned restaurant.
Unable to find Su Yi there, they reluctantly continued walking forward, until they saw Su Yi’s shadow outside this new restaurant at the intersection.
As soon as Jiang Yuan saw Su Yi, without saying a word, he pulled Liu Zi into the restaurant.
They were about to reach the table when they realized that a man was sitting opposite Su Yi.
Jiang Yuan and Liuzi looked at each other, silently taking a seat at the table next to Su Yi.
Su Yi was engrossed in her food and hadn’t noticed the commotion at the neighboring table.
Zhou Jinchuan, however, had noticed them from the moment they entered.
Seeing their eyes fixed on Su Yi, he turned his head and stared back at them with displeasure.
“Is there something wrong?”
The two men, seeing Zhou Jinchuan’s upright posture and piercing, cold gaze, quickly retracted their gaze.
“No, nothing.”
Hearing the commotion, Su Yi finally looked up.
“Oh, it’s you guys?”
She then explained to Zhou Jinchuan, “I met them while buying things this morning. That banana is from them.”
Zhou Jinchuan, seeing her explanation, could only nod silently.
“Let’s eat first.”
“I’m full.”
“Then let’s go back!”
“There’s so much food left, should we pack it?”
They packed their food. Su Yi nodded slightly to Jiang Yuan and Liuzi as a greeting.
Then she left with Zhou Jinchuan.
Su Yi didn’t pay much attention to the two men.
She just thought it was a coincidence, and she didn’t want Zhou Jinchuan to know about her stockpiling, so she was eager to leave.
Little did she know that Jiang Yuan and Liuzi had come looking for her on purpose.
As soon as Su Yi and Zhou Jinchuan left,
Liuzi sighed and slumped onto the chair. “Brother Yuan, this girl is beautiful, no doubt, but she already has a boyfriend. Just give up on her!
Jiang Yuan thought about her not wearing a scarf, then snorted coldly. “How do you know they’re a couple? Maybe they’re siblings?”
Liuzi looked at him with a strange expression. “No, didn’t you see it yourself just now? That guy, when he saw us staring at her, his eyes were like he wanted to eat us, clearly a boyfriend!”
“And that guy’s aura is too intimidating. You can’t compete with him. You’re better off letting go early to avoid getting hurt!”
Jiang Yuan spat and stood up to leave, not even finishing his meal.
“I don’t like to hear you say pessimistic things. When I earn a lot of money through my own hard work, will I be any worse than him?”
After saying that, he quickly walked towards the guesthouse.
On the other side, Zhou Jinchuan walked Su Yi downstairs, gave her a few words of advice, and then watched her go upstairs.
He stood downstairs for a while, thinking about the two people he had met at the restaurant.
He decided to go and give them a warning before going back.
But as he turned around, he saw the two of them walking quickly towards him.
The two of them saw Zhou Jinchuan at the same time, and it was too late to dodge.
Their eyes met. Zhou Jinchuan beckoned to Jiang Yuan.
“Come over here and talk.”
Seeing this, Jiang Yuan was about to step forward, but Liuzi couldn’t stop him.
“We just want to get to know each other and make friends.”
Zhou Jinchuan narrowed his eyes and looked at him for a moment, then said in a low voice, “She doesn’t need friends like you.”
Jiang Yuan also gathered his courage and snorted. “Are you her brother? We live in a new society now, it’s none of your business who your sister wants to be friends with?”
“No.” Zhou Jinchuan emphasized again, “I’m not her brother.”
“Then who are you to her?”
“I’m hers.”
“…”
