Since he had already given up, why did he suddenly want to change his mind?

Wei Qi’s greatest mistake was coveting what belonged to her. Tan Yixuan’s fingers clenched around the letter, crumpling the thin paper. She paused momentarily, and then reached out, ready to throw the letter into the trash.

But Sasa wasn’t an emotionless object; she was a living, breathing person with her own feelings. Tan Yixuan shouldn’t think like that…

She stopped her actions, conflicted.

Just as she was hesitating, she suddenly heard Wang Sasa’s curious voice behind her, “Tan Yixuan?”

Startled, Tan Yixuan quickly withdrew her hand, also pulling back the letter she had been about to throw away. She shoved it into her pocket and then turned around, her expression unreadable. “Sasa.”

Wang Sasa examined her expression, oblivious to her movements, and asked, “I just saw Wei Qi talking to you. What did he say?” Having seen the peculiar expression on Wei Qi’s face earlier, Wang Sasa felt a bit uneasy and had rushed over.

That shameless Wei Qi—could it be that he had taken a liking to both her and Tan Yixuan at the same time? Wang Sasa thought gravely. It was entirely possible…

Tan Yixuan lowered her eyes, and her dark gaze quickly became clouded with an unreadable expression. After a moment, she slowly smiled. “He came to borrow a dictionary.”

Wang Sasa looked at her in surprise, disbelief written all over her face. “Borrow a dictionary? Wei Qi?”

Wei Qi had just skipped class for an entire week, and the first thing he did upon returning to school was ask Tan Yixuan for a dictionary? Clearly, his intentions were far from pure. Borrowing the dictionary was just a pretext—his real goal was to get close to Tan Yixuan!

Wang Sasa rubbed her chin, thinking she had figured out the truth.

However, since she no longer intended to meddle in Tan Yixuan’s love life, Wang Sasa just smiled and refrained from asking further questions.

Seeing Wang Sasa so easily believe her, Tan Yixuan’s lips curved upward. “Who knows with him?”

After Wei Qi delivered the letter, he realized that for an entire week, Wang Sasa still hadn’t responded to him.

Anger, sadness, disappointment—after reading the letter, she should have shown some kind of reaction. But it was as if Wang Sasa had no idea the letter existed. She gave him absolutely no response. Could Wang Sasa be so cold and indifferent that she no longer had any feelings for him at all?

Wei Qi didn’t believe it. It had only been a few months!

Dongzi gave him some advice: “What exactly did you write in that letter? It’s no wonder she’s ignoring you like that.”

Wei Qi hesitated. “I just wrote that since she’s still pleasing to the eye, I’d allow her to keep liking me.”

Dongzi couldn’t believe his ears. “Brother Wei! Are you serious? Is that how you pursue a girl? You basically said, ‘I’ll give you a chance to chase me.’”

Wei Qi looked puzzled. “Is there something wrong with that?”

Dongzi couldn’t help but roll his eyes. “It’s a huge problem! When you’re pursuing a girl, you can’t act all high and mighty. The most important thing is your attitude! Do you understand that?”

Wei Qi frowned at him. “Then how should I write it?”

Dongzi, shaking his head like a wise old man, lectured him. “When it comes to writing love letters, you’ve got to listen to someone with experience—like me.”

He proceeded to impart his wisdom, discussing word choice, tone, and content.

“You can be subtle or cheesy, but it has to come across as sincere. As for the content, you’ve got an advantage most guys don’t: Wang Shasha used to like you. So, all you need to do is reminisce about the past and explain how much you regret your previous blindness. That’ll do the trick.”

Wei Qi hesitantly held his pen. “Will this really work?”

Dongzi waved dismissively. “Trust me. Just deliver a few letters first, and if it doesn’t work, we’ll come up with something else.”

Wei Qi, feeling burdened, sighed. “Guess I have no other choice.”

Sunday came, and Tan Yixuan found herself staring at another letter thrust into her hand, with Wei Qi standing before her, looking like it was the most natural thing in the world. She raised an eyebrow. “What’s this?”

Wei Qi, embarrassed, said, “Could you please deliver this one more time?”

Tan Yixuan lowered her gaze, hiding the emotions in her eyes. She looked up and smiled. “Sure.”

After that day, Wei Qi asked Tan Yixuan to deliver letters again—six in total.

Wei Qi hadn’t tried to confront Wang Shasha directly because she was always either sticking close to Tan Yixuan or surrounded by others, avoiding him like the plague. She rarely had a moment alone. Left with no other option, Wei Qi continued to approach Tan Yixuan for help.

Each time, Tan Yixuan accepted the letter with a smile. But once she turned away, her face turned cold. She stuffed the letters into her thick textbooks.

She stacked them neatly, carefully tearing each one open, scanning the contents quickly, and then sealing them back up just as neatly.

In his letters, Wei Qi wrote about many childhood memories with Wang Shasha, including how she had once been madly in love with him. Tan Yixuan forced herself to read every word, feeling as if her emotions were on a roller coaster—jealous, yet happy.

She was happy because she learned things about Wang Sasa’s past that she hadn’t known before.

But she was jealous because Wang Sasa’s other personality had loved Wei Qi so deeply. Even though she knew the two personalities were different, when Tan Yixuan thought of those memories as Wang Sasa’s, she felt like going mad.

How could she allow Wang Sasa to love someone else?

In a self-destructive way, she read every single word related to Wang Sasa in those letters. After Wei Qi stopped sending letters, Tan Yixuan collected them all and stashed them deep inside her bookcase.

She didn’t feel that she was sabotaging Wang Sasa’s relationship. After all, Wang Sasa had told her herself that she didn’t like Wei Qi. By keeping the letters, Tan Yixuan was merely helping Wang Sasa avoid unnecessary trouble.

After six letters disappeared without a trace, even someone as clueless as Wei Qi had to realize something was wrong. He confronted Tan Yixuan with a cold expression. “Did you even give those letters to Wang Shasha?”

Tan Yixuan didn’t even lift her eyelids, replying calmly, “Does it matter whether I did or didn’t?” She raised her eyes, a faint smile playing on her lips. “After all, she doesn’t like you.”

“T-Tan Yixuan?”

Wei Qi was about to question her further when Wang Sasa’s voice suddenly cut in.

Wang Sasa felt annoyed. She had only left for a short while, and Wei Qi had taken the opportunity to pester Tan Yixuan again.

She rushed forward and grabbed Tan Yixuan’s arm, turning away as she said, “Tan Yixuan, did you get your dictionary back?”

Tan Yixuan’s heart tightened, and she instinctively looked up. “I…”

Wang Sasa glanced at her, noticing Tan Yixuan’s nervous expression. She hesitated, her gaze shifting between Tan Yixuan and Wei Qi, her thoughts turning. “Do you two have something else going on?”

Upon hearing this, Tan Yixuan instinctively gripped Wang Sasa’s arm tightly. “Sasa, I’m sorry.”

Wang Sasa blinked in confusion, her eyes flickering.

Tan Yixuan—what had she done to apologize for?

Tan Yixuan’s palms were sweating, and her fingers clenched so tightly that they were nearly cramping. Just as she was about to speak, Wei Qi’s voice suddenly interrupted her.

“Shasha, did you get my letters?” Wei Qi asked, his gaze darting from Wang Sasa to Tan Yixuan.

“Letters? What letters?” Wang Sasa asked, puzzled. Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her hand. When she turned to look, she saw that Tan Yixuan was gripping her so tightly that her wrist had turned red.

Wei Qi pointed at Tan Yixuan, his eyes wide with accusation. “So, you never delivered my letters, did you?”

Tan Yixuan ignored him completely, her face expressionless as she stared at Wang Sasa. Yet her trembling fingers betrayed her nervousness.

Wang Sasa glanced at Tan Yixuan, then withdrew her hand. She noticed Tan Yixuan’s anxious gaze fixed on her and hesitated for a moment.

Rubbing her wrist, which had reddened from being gripped, Wang Sasa thought carefully and decided not to expose Tan Yixuan. She cleared her throat and said to Wei Qi, “Oh, now I remember. The letters, right? I asked Tan Yixuan to keep them safe for me.”

Wei Qi looked uncertain. “You asked Tan Yixuan to keep them? You didn’t read them?”

Twisting a lock of her hair between her fingers, Wang Sasa didn’t answer directly but gave an ambiguous response: “I had Tan Yixuan handle it for me.” As she spoke, her gaze drifted down Tan Yixuan’s collar and followed the line of her body, stopping at her tightly clenched fingers. Smiling slightly, she asked, “So, did you receive another one today?”

No wonder earlier she had seen Tan Yixuan handling something—so it was one of Wei Qi’s letters?

Tan Yixuan hesitated for a moment before pulling the letter out of her pocket and handing it to Wang Sasa.

When Wang Sasa looked down at the envelope, she couldn’t help but laugh.

The thin envelope had no postage stamp, the yellowed paper had no sender or recipient written on it, and the envelope itself was crumpled, as if it had been ruthlessly mishandled. Imagining Tan Yixuan nervously crumpling the envelope, Wang Sasa found it amusing.

Even someone as composed as her could do something so childish?

“So, besides the letter, is there anything else?” Wang Sasa asked nonchalantly.

Wei Qi was taken aback and opened his mouth, but didn’t know what to say. Wang Sasa had already said that Tan Yixuan was handling the letters—what could he possibly object to now? Seeing the two of them acting so friendly, Wei Qi grew frustrated.

It took him a while to find his voice again, muttering, “Well… I’ll talk to you later.” He stammered for a while, but couldn’t muster the courage to confess his feelings.

Wang Sasa shrugged and, no longer paying attention to Wei Qi, hooked her arm around Tan Yixuan’s and walked away.

Back in the classroom, after working on some homework, Tan Yixuan finally couldn’t hold back any longer and asked, “Sasa, do you really not care?”

Wang Sasa responded in a casual tone, “Care about what?”

Tan Yixuan lowered her eyes, staring at her textbook, not daring to look at her. “Wei Qi’s letters. Don’t you care what he wrote?”

“Is that important?”

Wang Sasa glanced at her, seeing that Tan Yixuan’s face was tense, practically broadcasting her displeasure. Wang Sasa couldn’t help but laugh. “I’ve told you before…” She patted Tan Yixuan’s shoulder. “How many times do I have to repeat it for you to believe that I’m not interested in Wei Qi?”

Upon hearing this, Tan Yixuan’s lips immediately curved into a smile, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. She pretended to be indifferent and hummed in response before saying, “Then, can I tell you that I threw them all away?”

Threw them away?

Wang Sasa raised her eyebrows, straightened her posture a bit, and rested her slender arm on Tan Yixuan’s shoulder. She leaned in close, curiosity written all over her face. “Tan Yixuan, I didn’t realize you were so jealous!”
