Su Niannian stood up and smiled as well.
“Alright.”
Seeing this, Lu Hongliang couldn’t help but throw a couple of teasing remarks at Boss Qian.
He said that Boss Qian’s business was booming these days—truly enviable.
“Isn’t your business doing pretty well too?” Boss Qian replied while giving Lu Hongliang’s chest a friendly tap with the back of his hand.
Boss Qian was an old hand at this. Judging from Lu Hongliang’s expression and demeanor, it was clear that Su Niannian hadn’t cut him off from the business.
That realization made Boss Qian feel a bit more at ease.
After all, he’d been worried that Lu Hongliang’s deal might fall through.
“Miss Su, shall we head over to make the transaction now?” Boss Qian asked.
Su Niannian gave a slight nod.
“I still need to go pick up some pig offal later, so you two go ahead. I won’t be joining,” Lu Hongliang said from the side.
“Alright, just don’t forget to set aside sixteen jin for me today—I’ve got some brothers under me who are craving it,” Boss Qian said, patting Lu Hongliang’s shoulder.
Lu Hongliang nodded. “Got it, you won’t be left out.”
Then Boss Qian gestured politely for Su Niannian to go ahead. She smiled and followed him.
Boss Qian’s delivery truck was parked just outside the alley.
He eagerly helped Su Niannian load her bicycle onto the truck, then climbed in with her.
Soon, the truck arrived at the courtyard Su Niannian was renting.
As before, the process was the same—Su Niannian needed to head into the house first to inspect the goods while Boss Qian and his men waited in the courtyard.
Boss Qian instructed his guys to bring over the scale and other tools as they got things ready in the yard.
After entering the house, Su Niannian waved her hand, and instantly brought out the items stored in her spatial warehouse.
Then she moved over to the rear window, slipped into the two side rooms, and repeated the same process—retrieving more items from the space.
Once everything was in place, Su Niannian finally returned to the courtyard.
“You can go in and start counting now,” Su Niannian said with a smile to Boss Qian.
Boss Qian was even more cheerful than she was. He ordered his men to head in, carry the goods out, and weigh them.
Walking up beside Su Niannian with a beaming smile, Boss Qian asked her,
“The fruit we talked about last time—do you have it now?” His eyes were filled with eager anticipation as he looked at her.
Su Niannian smiled and nodded.
Boss Qian’s grin widened even further.
“What about the price?”
“Why don’t you check the quality first?” Su Niannian replied, laughing with ease.
In truth, she already had a rough price in mind. After all, anything that came from her spatial warehouse was top-grade, so it was only natural that her prices could be set slightly higher than market rates.
Boss Qian nodded at her words. “Don’t worry, Little Miss Su. I, Old Qian, will absolutely give you a fair price,” he said, patting his chest with confidence.
Su Niannian smiled in response.
Business had been booming for Boss Qian lately, and he’d made quite a bit of money. As a result, he’d been especially generous with his crew these days.
The wages had nearly doubled compared to the past.
The younger men genuinely felt it was worthwhile working under Old Qian, so each of them put in their full effort.
Today, they were moving goods faster than ever before.
“Brother Qian, the left-hand room is all fruit—the whole room smells sweet and fragrant from it,” one of the young men said as he carried out a box of apples.
Just looking at them, the apples already seemed to be of excellent quality.
Even without taking a bite, the rich fruity aroma wafted through the air.
“Miss Su, this quality is impressive,” Boss Qian said as he looked at the apples being set down nearby.
Unable to resist, he picked one up, gave it a casual rub on his shirt, and took a big bite.
Instantly, the fresh scent of apple filled his mouth, and the juicy sweetness spread across his palate.
The sweet and fragrant apple aroma completely filled Boss Qian’s mouth.
“Delicious, really delicious,” Boss Qian said, pointing at the apple in his hand as he spoke to Su Niannian.
This was actually the first batch of apples harvested from the space, and Su Niannian hadn’t even tasted them herself yet.
But judging by Boss Qian’s reaction, they must really be excellent.
It just so happened that when she went home later, she could bring some fruit with her and tell her mother she bought them in the county.
Su Niannian smiled brightly. “As long as you like it.”
The goods were quickly all moved out and piled up in the courtyard into a sizable heap.
One of Boss Qian’s men stood next to the scale, carefully weighing everything and jotting down the numbers with paper and pen.
Once everything had been weighed, the man handed the completed list to Boss Qian.
Boss Qian glanced at it, then passed it to Su Niannian.
“Take a look, Miss Su. Make sure the quantities and weights are all correct. If everything checks out, I’ll start calculating payment,” he said.
Su Niannian took the paper and carefully reviewed the listed items and weights. After confirming that everything was accurate, she handed it back to Boss Qian.
“Wow, that’s a lot of fruit. Good thing I brought enough cash today—otherwise, I might’ve come up short,” Boss Qian said with a laugh.
When it comes to goods, price isn’t the issue—it’s quality that matters.
If the quality is good, it’ll sell no matter the cost. There are always people, in every era, willing to pay more to eat something better.
These days, Boss Qian even had regular customers.
At this moment, Boss Qian sat on a small stool in the courtyard, laying the list across his lap as he carefully began to calculate.
Fortunately, he’d had some schooling when he was younger. Simple arithmetic was no problem for him, and with so many years of business under his belt, tallying this kind of account went quickly.
“Wheat and rice, two thousand kilograms each, that’s four thousand kilograms total. At seven mao per half kilograms, that comes out to two thousand eight hundred yuan.”
“Tomatoes, cucumbers, string beans, green peppers, cabbage—one hundred fifty kilograms each, a total of seven hundred fifty kilograms. At three mao per half kilograms, that’s two hundred and twenty five yuan.”
“Sweet potatoes and regular potatoes combined for a five hundred kilograms, also at three mao per jin, that’s one hundred and fifty yuan.”
“As for fruit—apples, pears, peaches, and jujubes, one hundred and fifty of each. Now, the price for those…”
Boss Qian paused here and looked up at Su Niannian, clearly waiting for her input.
“My goods are better than what’s typically found in the market,” Su Niannian said with a smile, kicking the question right back to Boss Qian. “Why don’t you tell me what you think is a fair price?”
Boss Qian thought for a moment. These four fruits—apples, pears, peaches, and jujubes—were all common varieties on the market.
But the taste… hers were clearly far superior.
Normally, these types of fruits sold for just a few mao per half kilograms—maybe two to seven mao, depending on quality and sweetness.
Given how good Su Niannian’s fruits were, he could offer a higher price and still have no trouble selling them.
Besides, Boss Qian was thinking long-term. He wanted to maintain a steady partnership with Su Niannian. If he offered too low a price now, it could hurt future dealings.
These fruits were delicious enough to appeal directly to wealthier clients. So…
“Then let’s set it at one yuan per jin for these four types of fruit,” Boss Qian said, looking at Su Niannian, checking if that price worked for her.
“Alright,” Su Niannian agreed, feeling there was no problem with it.
She had already inquired about the black market prices for these fruits. Even those with better quality were sold for just around four mao per jin. Now, with Boss Qian offering one yuan per jin, Su Niannian thought it was more than fair.
