Song Zhaodi rushed forward and restrained Sister-in-law Li Dashi.
“You…” The village chief started to say something.
Before he could finish, Su Niannian had already moved behind Li Baobei, wrapping her arms around him.
However, Su Niannian wasn’t strong enough, and holding onto Li Baobei was proving difficult.
She intended to use the Heimlich maneuver. Standing behind him, she wrapped her arms around his abdomen and delivered quick, forceful thrusts, trying to help him expel the obstruction.
However, to the onlookers, her actions seemed more like she was tormenting Li Baobei.
Sister-in-law Li Dashi’s eyes turned red with rage. She struggled desperately, breaking free from Song Zhaodi’s grip, and lunged at Su Niannian.
Just then, a tall figure suddenly appeared between them, blocking Sister-in-law Ling’s attack.
Sister-in-law Ling looked up and saw that it was Gu Nan.
Under normal circumstances, she would never dare to provoke him. But now, with her precious son suffering in Su Niannian’s hands, she gritted her teeth and charged forward anyway.
“If you don’t want your son to die, calm down!” Su Niannian’s voice was usually soft and gentle.
She looked delicate and frail, as if she lacked any real strength.
But at this moment, the words that came from her mouth carried an unusual gravity and seriousness, exuding an aura that didn’t match her usual gentle demeanor.
Sister-in-law Li Dashi was stunned on the spot, frozen by Su Niannian’s commanding tone, unable to move.
“I’m not strong enough. Do it like this—repeat the motion quickly and forcefully several times,” Su Niannian instructed.
Although Li Baobei was only eleven years old, he was indeed a bit chubby.
Su Niannian’s body couldn’t support her in performing too many repetitions.
Gu Nan nodded and took her place.
Standing behind Li Baobei, he wrapped his arms around the boy’s abdomen and quickly applied firm, forceful thrusts.
“Like this?”
“Mm! That’s right!”
After receiving Su Niannian’s confirmation, Gu Nan repeated the maneuver a few more times.
Gu Nan stood at an impressive 1.87 meters, his body packed with solid muscle. Performing the maneuver seemed almost effortless for him.
The surrounding villagers had never seen such a rescue method before and watched with curiosity.
Especially now, as Li Baobei’s face had turned a deep, liver-like red.
Although Li Baobei was often mischievous, most of the villagers were still simple and kind-hearted. None of them wanted to see a young boy like him lose his life.
Fortunately,…
Just as Sister-in-law Li Dashi was on the verge of breaking down, unwilling to trust them any longer—
A peanut shot out of Li Baobei’s mouth and landed on the ground.
Seeing this, Gu Nan immediately let go of him.
Without any support, Li Baobei’s body went limp, collapsing onto the ground.
The suffocating feeling that had gripped him finally released its hold.
He sat on the ground, gasping for air in deep, desperate breaths.
It was as if a drowning man had been granted a second chance at life.
Seeing that her son was safe, Sister-in-law Li rushed over, tears streaming down her face.
She immediately pulled Li Baobei into her arms, holding him tightly.
The surrounding villagers erupted in excitement.
Earlier, when Su Niannian had claimed she could save Li Baobei, most of them had been skeptical. Especially since her method of rescue was something they had never seen before.
This young educated youth was far too young—she didn’t look like a physician at all.
At that moment, Li Baobei’s face had turned completely red, as if, if someone were to crack open his head, a fountain of blood would have burst out.
Considering how severe his condition was, even if they had rushed him to the county hospital, he likely wouldn’t have survived.
Everyone had thought Li Baobei was doomed.
Some villagers, who had suffered at Li Baobei’s hands before, even felt that perhaps this was karma at work.
But no one had expected that, with just a few quick movements, Su Niannian’s method had actually brought him back.
Sister-in-law Li Dashi held Li Baobei in her arms, crying for a while, before finally confirming that he was fine.
She then looked up at Su Niannian, her gaze filled with complex emotions.
Gu Nan, on the other hand, looked at Su Niannian with eyes full of love and pride.
His little girl, his own little girl—she was truly amazing!
At that moment, Zhou Daniu also drove up in a tractor.
After confirming with Su Niannian that there was no need to send Li Baobei to the hospital, Village Head Kaoshan instructed Zhou Daniu to take the tractor back.
“Th-thank you…” Sister-in-law Li Dashi was indeed someone who was quick to anger and unreasonable, but Su Niannian had just saved her child, her precious son.
At this moment, apart from being grateful to Su Niannian for putting aside any past grievances and saving her child, she also no longer felt any intention of causing trouble over money.
Su Niannian’s belief as a physician was to treat and save lives.
Even though that had been her belief in her previous life, now, with this second chance at life, she could not stand by and watch a child die just because of past grudges.
Su Niannian didn’t respond with a simple “you’re welcome,” but instead, her gaze turned to the small witness.
“Now that everyone’s here, do you want to revisit what happened the day before yesterday afternoon?” Su Niannian asked Sister-in-law Li Dashi.
Sister-in-law Li Dashi immediately waved her hand.
Her face turned slightly red.
“This was wrong of my son, Li Baobei.” Sister-in-law Li Dashi called Li Baobei over.
“Son, apologize to Su Niannian,” she said, holding Li Baobei’s shoulder and signaling for him to apologize to Su Niannian.
After the recent incident, Li Baobei felt deep gratitude toward Su Niannian.
After all, he had nearly died just moments ago.
If this sister hadn’t saved him, he would have been finished.
Having come so close to death, the feeling of surviving such a close call made Li Baobei reflect deeply.
“Sister Su, I’m sorry,” Li Baobei bent over and apologized.
Many of the villagers’ present were staring wide-eyed in astonishment.
Li Baobei had previously caused a lot of trouble and always insisted on defending himself, even when he was in the wrong.
Now, seeing this mischievous child actually apologize, the villagers were somewhat surprised.
On the other hand, the village head, Li Guofu, didn’t seem particularly grateful to Su Niannian at this moment.
If it hadn’t been for her calling Li Baobei over, would he have choked on the peanut? Isn’t all this chaos today a result of Su Niannian’s actions?
However, seeing that Li Baobei was fine now, Li Guofu didn’t plan on making a big deal out of it.
“This apology shouldn’t be directed at me,” Su Niannian said ligthly, then waved toward Gu Ningning, who was standing not far away.
Gu Ningning ran over quickly.
“You need to apologize to her,” Su Niannian said, gently patting Gu Ningning’s little head and speaking to Li Baobei.
Li Baobei retorted, “But their family is part of the black market, bad people! Why should I apologize to her?”
He felt that while Su Niannian saved him, he had done nothing wrong in standing up against the black market family. After all, the villagers had always looked down on them for their poor reputation. It wasn’t his fault, was it?
Su Niannian calmly responded, “Their family’s success or failure has already been met with the punishment it deserves.”
“Regardless of the reason, bullying others is always wrong.”
Su Niannian’s tone remained calm as she spoke, “You’re still young. If you can’t distinguish right from wrong, others may tolerate you today. But when you grow up and step into society, there will be others who will teach you the lessons you need to learn.”
She paused and then continued, “If you don’t want to apologize, I can’t force you. Just live with the consequences of your actions.”
Her words were clear. She chose not to press the issue, as she saw him as a child, not wanting to argue further.
If this situation were with an adult, Su Niannian would have had many ways to deal with it. But having been reborn, her goal was clear: to exact revenge on everyone who had wronged her.
As she thought about this, Su Niannian couldn’t help but glance at Lu Xingguang, as well as Huang Yingying and Zhao Sulan who were not far away.
Her gaze lingered for a moment, filled with quiet determination. She had come back for a reason, and the unfinished business with these people was far from over. The injustice she had suffered in her past life would not be forgotten, and neither would those who played a part in it.
