Wolves have always operated in packs.
If it were just one or two lone wolves, Su Niannian wouldn’t be that worried.
After all, Gu Nan’s skills were there to rely on.
But now, what she heard were the continuous howls of wolves.
One person’s strength couldn’t compete with many, and Su Niannian was very concerned about Gu Nan.
She hurriedly ran toward the direction from which the howls were coming.
Soon, under the moonlight, Su Niannian could already see the shadows moving in that direction.
There were quite a few of them, and it felt as though they were almost surrounded.
In addition to the wolf howls, there were also the pitiful cries and whimpers of wild boars.
Out of the corner of his eye, Gu Nan noticed the beam of a flashlight shining from the side.
Although the light was dim, the flickering spot was still caught by Gu Nan.
His brow furrowed; in that brief moment of distraction, a wolf seized the opportunity and swiftly pounced on him with a howl.
Gu Nan shifted his body to dodge, but still, the wolf’s claws managed to scrape his forearm.
The wolf’s claws were sharp, and with the force of the pounce, a deep gash appeared on Gu Nan’s forearm.
His sleeve was torn, and fresh blood quickly soaked through, dripping down his arm and falling onto the ground.
The scent of human blood excited the wolf even more.
The howls of the wolves grew louder, and a few others seemed ready to join in.
Gu Nan immediately sensed the danger.
“Go!” Gu Nan gritted his teeth, pressing his left hand against the wound, and shouted toward the direction of the flickering light.
It was clear that he couldn’t handle the wolf pack in front of him right now.
With Su Niannian coming over, Gu Nan would have to divide his attention to protect her.
Moreover, he was deeply worried that Su Niannian might get hurt.
He couldn’t let her take such a risk.
But how could Su Niannian be so obedient?
As for the wolf pack, Su Niannian couldn’t deal with them either.
But if she couldn’t handle them, what about her little companion?
The tiger cub, raised on spiritual spring water, was a fierce fighter.
Without a second thought, Su Niannian wasn’t concerned about revealing the secret of her space.
She directly pulled the little companion out from her space.
The little one, still inside the space, had been pondering whether to eat the wild chicken first or the wild rabbit, or perhaps both at the same time.
And just then, it was pulled out of the space.
The little companion’s vision was momentarily engulfed in darkness as the light before it vanished, returning it to the familiar darkness of the mountains and forests.
Its eyes quickly adjusted to the surroundings.
“Go, help him!” Su Niannian urged.
Her voice was laced with urgency. The little companion followed her gaze into the distance and saw eight wolves and a man.
Instantly, the little one became intrigued and let out an excited tiger roar.
With its body crouched low, the little companion pounced toward them.
The sound of its body cutting through the grass and foliage was clear in the air.
Slish, slish.
On Gu Nan’s side, noticing a large figure rushing toward him, his brows furrowed even more tightly, and his expression darkened further.
His grip on the sickle and axe tightened by two notches.
Escaping from the clutches of this wolf pack was already difficult enough, and now, with an additional tiger joining in…
Could he really make it out alive?
At this moment, Gu Nan’s right forearm and left leg were both injured. While it wasn’t life-threatening, it still limited his movements.
Gu Nan didn’t want to die, and he certainly wouldn’t give up easily.
He had the spirit of a soldier, refusing to surrender or let go of even the slightest possibility of survival.
All he wanted was for Su Niannian to escape quickly, to go far away to a safe place.
He didn’t want his little girl to see him in such a miserable, bleeding state.
The roar of the tiger sounded again, and the wolf pack immediately sensed the threat—a pressure from the king of the wild.
One by one, they crouched low, on high alert.
The wolves, weakened by hunger from a generation that couldn’t find enough food, weren’t exactly large and powerful. The food sources in the mountains behind were also scarce, so they weren’t well-nourished.
Tonight, they had caught the scent of wild boar blood and came in search of a meal.
Seeing the boar, already unable to fight back, and a lone human, they initially thought they could have a feast.
But this human was terrifyingly strong. After attacking for so long, they still couldn’t overpower him.
And now, a tiger had appeared?
The little companion had already charged into the midst of the wolf pack.
It quickly targeted a nearby wolf, sinking its teeth into its neck and snapping it with one bite.
Then, with a swift leap to the right, it tackled another wolf.
The first wolf’s neck gushed out blood, and it collapsed to the ground without even letting out a final whimper.
The second wolf struggled helplessly under the weight of the little companion’s paw, which felt as though it weighed a thousand pounds, making escape impossible.
The little companion’s other paw came down with a mighty strike, and the wolf’s head was crushed in, its breath instantly ceasing.
In just a few moments, the display of power was overwhelming.
The remaining wolves were stunned by the little companion’s actions and, for a moment, they dared not make a move.
At this time, Su Niannian also arrived, showing no fear of the wolf pack’s threat as she ran toward Gu Nan.
“What are you doing here? Go, quickly!” Gu Nan’s arm continued to bleed, and his entire sleeve was soaked in red.
Su Niannian’s eyes filled with concern as she saw the bloody wound.
Her man… was hurt and bleeding.
Her heart felt as though it had been pierced by needles.
Without hesitation, she pulled out gauze and bandages from her bag.
These items were stored in Su Niannian’s space. Although her hand reached into the bag, she was actually retrieving them from the space.
Gu Nan was surprised. How did the little girl have bandages with her…
But right now, this was not the time for bandaging.
With wolves ahead and a tiger behind, Gu Nan wasn’t even sure if he would see tomorrow’s sun.
At this moment, what Gu Nan could do was give everything he had to protect the little girl.
Even if he had to die, he couldn’t let her be harmed in the slightest.
Gu Nan gripped the machete tightly in his hand, positioning himself in front of Su Nian Nian, guarding her with all his might.
Once the little tiger entered the wolf pack, it swiftly took down two wolves, exuding an overwhelming sense of dominance.
At this point, the other wolves, in perfect synchrony, began to slowly retreat toward the outer circle.
The size of the little tiger compared to the wolves was far too large.
Moreover, the little tiger had grown up drinking spiritual spring water, making its physical strength extraordinarily powerful.
Seeing the tiger’s astonishing combat abilities, Gu Nan realized that the wolf pack was no match for it.
A plan slowly began to form in his mind.
He could only hope that the tiger wouldn’t let the wolves escape, and that the pack wouldn’t retreat.
The two sides continued to fight, consuming their strength. When one side was on the verge of collapse and the other injured, perhaps Gu Nan could hold off the remaining wolves long enough to give Su Niannian a chance to escape.
He had only one belief: his little girl must survive, even if it meant sacrificing his own life.
Gu Nan watched as the wolf pack, terrified by the ferocity of the tiger, chose to retreat. The tiger didn’t pursue, instead staying where it was, guarding the area. Gu Nan knew at this moment that he and the tiger would not escape the battle unscathed.
Unfortunately, the wolf pack hadn’t exhausted the tiger’s strength, and with his own injuries, his chances of winning were slim.
“I’ll bandage you,” Su Niannian said, her heart breaking as she saw Gu Nan bleeding so much.
She held the flask of spirit spring water in her hand, intending to clean his wounds and stop the bleeding first.
Hearing Su Niannian’s words, Gu Nan felt a warm current flow through his heart. However, he realized that the little girl probably didn’t yet understand the gravity of the situation. At this moment, with life and death on the line, there was no time to worry about treating wounds.
“I’ll hold off the tiger. You go first. You must escape!!”
