To be fair, even though getting caught in a situation like this made Lu Xingguang incredibly uncomfortable,
the fact that he had been able to do that with Su Niannian still left a trace of smugness in his heart.
Let her act like she couldn’t even spare him a glance on a normal day.
Wasn’t she just beneath him doing that not long ago?
Everyone in the village thought Su Niannian was rich and skilled in medicine—but now, wasn’t she just submitting beneath his hips?
Lu Xingguang figured, as long as he claimed Su Niannian had seduced him, it would make sense. He was a normal man, after all—unable to resist the allure of a beautiful woman. That was perfectly reasonable.
What man hasn’t made a mistake before?
But in the end…
It was actually Zhao Sulan?
Who knew what Huang Yingying and Qian Jun had done to mess things up?
Just as he was thinking about it, Lu Xingguang suddenly felt a wave of darkness rush over him—
some bold fellow had struck him hard on the head from behind.
As for Zhao Sulan, she watched as Lu Xingguang collapsed onto the ground.
She actually climbed on top of him without a shred of shame.
Everyone inside couldn’t help but feel their eyes burn at the sight. One by one, they backed out of the room.
As for Gu Nan, he had already stepped out the moment it all began.
He had no desire to dirty his own eyes.
As for what was happening inside, Gu Nan could already guess most of it from outside.
At that moment, Ergou ran over to Gu Nan with an excited look on his face.
“Brother Nan, those Educated Youth sent down to the countryside sure know how to play—can’t even stop them if you tried.”
“Just now, Xiaoshu tried to cover that woman up, but she threw the blanket off and went straight for that Lu-something Educated Youth lying on the ground.”
“Educated Youth Lu had already fainted, and she still climbed right on top of him. Tsk, I’ve really seen it all today.”
Ergou spoke with vivid enthusiasm, but Gu Nan’s gaze grew darker and darker.
His eyes were so deep it seemed like they could drip with water.
If it weren’t for Su Niannian being so clever, if she had fallen for the trap, the woman inside right now would’ve been Su Niannian.
He couldn’t even bear to imagine his little girl being in that situation. If he had seen it, he didn’t know how much it would have shattered him.
Gu Nan’s fingers tightened into a fist, the bones cracking loudly under the pressure.
At that moment, the village chief, Lu Guofu, entered with a group of strong laborers.
“What’s going on? Did you catch the person?”
Lu Guofu asked the few people standing outside.
“They’re inside, we caught them, but…” Before they could finish speaking.
Upon hearing that the person had been caught, Lu Guofu immediately charged toward the inside.
This time, several flashlights’ beams landed directly on the two people inside.
Neither of them was wearing any clothes.
Lu Xingguang had passed out, while the man on top was still laboring away vigorously.
Everyone who barged in was utterly stunned.
“……”
This time, quite a few people had entered, and they all saw everything clearly.
“Out, everyone out.” An honest farmer, seeing such a scene, felt so embarrassed that he was the first to retreat.
But there were also lecherous onlookers whose eyes roamed greedily over Zhao Sulan’s body.
“What do we do now?” a villager asked Lu Guofu.
Zhao Sulan was still in a frenzied state, and since she wasn’t wearing any clothes, none of the men dared to step forward and separate the two.
“Must be some kind of drug, right? Otherwise, how could they carry on like this with so many of us watching?”
“……”
Even though Lu Guofu had seen his fair share of big scenes, this particular situation left him utterly flustered.
He couldn’t just send someone to pull the two apart, but leaving them like this wasn’t an option either.
For the first time in his career, Lu Guofu felt like he was facing an insurmountable problem.
After much deliberation, he decided he couldn’t just ignore it.
“I ain’t going—my wife would beat me to death if she found out,” said one of the chosen men, a notorious henpecked husband.
His wife was built like a black bear spirit, and her fists could pummel him into submission with just a few swings.
“I’ll go! I’ll go!”
A few old bachelors in the crowd were practically itching to volunteer, their hands twitching with anticipation.
One of them even started pushing forward eagerly.
“Go your damn self!” Lu Guofu kicked the old bachelor square in the backside. “Go find a couple of women—aunts or grannies—to come and separate them,” Lu Guofu instructed, then shooed everyone else out of the room.
Though the situation was… well, unspeakable, even Lu Guofu couldn’t help sneaking a few glances. After all, Zhao Sulan had a decent figure and a pretty face.
Once everyone had filed out, many lingered by the door, unwilling to miss the spectacle. Others, less interested in the drama, simply muttered their goodbyes and headed home. “Brother Nan, do you think Zhao Sulan will still want to live after she wakes up tomorrow?”
“Pretty much the whole village saw her bare. If she’s the thin-skinned type, she might just kill herself.”
“……” Gu Nan ignored Li Ergou’s chatter.
The crowd had already thinned out by more than half, and Gu Nan had no interest in sticking around for the aftermath.
Instead, he decided to head to the Educated Youth Camp to check on Su Niannian. He was worried Huang Yingying might have another trick up her sleeve—after all, Su Niannian hadn’t told him that Huang Yingying had also been drugged. Later, a few women and aunties arrived and, after considerable effort, managed to pull Zhao Sulan up from the ground.
They hastily dressed her in whatever torn clothes they could find, then wrapped her in a tattered quilt for cover.
“You lot, get that male Educated Youth out too,” Lu Guofu directed.
Lu Xingguang was hauled out, half-dressed in whatever garments could be thrown on him—otherwise, the sight would’ve been too much to bear.
Moreover, blood streaked Lu Xingguang’s head, clear evidence that he’d taken a brutal beating.
“They really went overboard—he’s bleeding,” Lu Guofu frowned upon seeing the state of Lu Xingguang.
While unmarried men and women engaging in such behavior would normally face public criticism, letting things escalate to a life-or-death situation was unacceptable.
“He’s out cold—didn’t even stir when we moved him. Could he actually die from this?” one of the men holding Lu Xingguang asked nervously.
“How should I know? I’m no physician!”
“What about asking Educated Youth Su to take a look? If this turns fatal, we’ll have hell to pay—this guy seems to have connections.”
Hearing this, Lu Guofu’s frown deepened.
This man was Lu Xingguang, and his father was supposedly the director of some major factory. If his son ended up dead in Kaoshan Village, it would undoubtedly bring serious trouble.
After some deliberation, Lu Guofu finally agreed to have Su Niannian examine him.
“So, what now? Should we take both of them back to the Educated Youth Camp and deal with everything after daybreak?” Zhou Daniu suggested.
Lu Guofu gave a slow nod. For now, this was the only option. One of them was completely out of their mind, hysterical and incoherent, while the other was unconscious and bleeding.
Lu Guofu couldn’t just leave them anywhere, so sending them back to the Educated Youth camp was the best course of action.
Thus, with the aunties supporting Zhao Sulan and two male villagers carrying Lu Xingguang, the group made their way to the Camp.
“These new Educated Youth—nothing but trouble! What kind of mess is this?!” This was practically a stain on Lu Guofu’s professional record.
Hands clasped behind his back, he followed the group back to the Camp.
The Educated Youth Camp was quiet and still—until the arrival of the group roused everyone inside.
One by one, the educated youth were jolted awake by the commotion.
