Chapter 44 : At least take down the position of secretary.
Aunt Hongxia quickly stepped forward and looked Ye Suiwan up and down.
“Ye girl, are you alright?”
“I saw that Sun family’s girl running towards you from the front door and knew something bad was about to happen, so I rushed over with the neighbors.”
“But when I saw that you weren’t at a disadvantage, I hid for a bit. Otherwise, how would everyone have seen what kind of face Sun Yan had?”
Aunt Hongxia spoke in a voice that only the two of them could hear.
Ye Suiwan had actually noticed someone hiding earlier.
“Thank you, Auntie. I’m fine.”
“Thank you, aunts and ladies. I’m getting married the day after tomorrow, so I’ll treat you all to some candy. Aunt Hongxia, I’ll have to trouble you to distribute it for me then.”
Ye Suiwan wasn’t sure how many of these people would actually attend the wedding banquet, nor did she know their exact relationship with the Xiao family, so she couldn’t invite them directly. But offering some candy was a good gesture.
“Hahaha, alright, I’ll share it with everyone then.”
“Ye Suiwan, you’re heading back to the educated youth camp, right? You should hurry back!”
The one speaking was the same aunt from last time.
She glanced at Xiao Yuyan.
“Aunt Fang has a good relationship with Mom.”
Xiao Yuyan immediately understood the meaning behind her look.
“Alright, let’s head back now, Aunt Fang.”
The two of them walked towards the educated youth camp, which was in the opposite direction of the village.
“Wife, I’m sorry.”
Seeing that no one was around, Xiao Yuyan reached out and held Ye Suiwan’s hand.
“It’s not your fault, but you might have offended the secretary this time.”
Ye Suiwan voiced her concerns.
“Wife, the surnames Sun and Jiang are the two most common in the village. If we remove him, the next person to take over must still be someone with the surname Sun in order to maintain balance.”
“Or, let me handle this.”
“No. I’ll be here for another two or three months. We can’t rush this. He won’t act immediately. If we just offended him today and something happens later, he won’t be able to remain as secretary. Sun He isn’t stupid.”
Ye Suiwan firmly refused.
“Then, who do you think is suitable among the Suns?”
“Just give me the information.”
She felt like her mind was becoming sharper, able to see the pros and cons of situations at a glance.
Of course, it might just be a small stroke of cleverness.
“Uncle Sun Shan.”
“Hmm? How is he related to Sun He?”
“They’re cousins, but they no longer interact. There’s a lot of bad blood between their families. But Uncle Sun Shan is a very good person, which is precisely why Sun He became the branch secretary in the first place.”
“If you want to take Sun He down, you can start with his eldest son, Sun Bin, who is in the county. I have a good brother there if you ever need help, you can find him. He’ll also be here the day after tomorrow. I asked him to keep an eye on Sun Bin and see if we can use him somehow.”
Although Xiao Yuyan wasn’t often home, he knew that many people in the village actually had issues with Sun He.
Since they had already offended him completely, and since the Xiao family had to continue living here, then as his wife said they had to get rid of Sun He’s family, or at least remove them from power so they couldn’t cause trouble.
He also understood why Ye Suiwan didn’t want him to handle this himself.
‘How did I get lucky enough to marry such a capable wife?’
“Alright, leave it to me.”
“The most important thing right now is to get married and then return to Beijing.”
“By the way, you can go ahead and buy the tickets now. I want to leave three days after we return home. Is that okay?”
Ye Suiwan didn’t want any delays, there was still a ticking time bomb waiting in Jing City!
“Okay, leave the ticket purchase to me!”
Xiao Yuyan had no objections.
“Alright then, here you go!”
Ye Suiwan pulled out a bundle of money from her bag and handed it to Xiao Yuyan.
“Wife, I’ll take it.”
He wanted to buy a sleeper ticket so his wife could travel comfortably, but he didn’t have enough money.
“I’ll handle the household expenses. Don’t worry about money, we have enough.”
Ye Suiwan raised her chin slightly, looking quite proud.
“We’re here. Go back now. Don’t tell Mom about what happened just now, she’ll just worry.”
Ye Suiwan reminded him.
“Wife, my stepmother will already know by the time I get home.”
Ye Suiwan thought of those aunts and sisters and sighed.
“Then just tell her that I wasn’t at a disadvantage and that she doesn’t need to worry.”
“Got it!”
The two finally parted ways, and Ye Suiwan headed straight to the educated youth camp.
Inside, everyone was sitting together, chatting.
“Suiwan, you’re back?”
“Did you get the marriage certificate?”
Zhou Jingjing was the first to ask.
“Yes, we got it.”
Ye Suiwan chatted with everyone for a bit before heading back to her dormitory.
As soon as she entered, she took out some large meat buns from her storage space, planning to give them to Jiang Sui. She had forgotten to give them the first time she bought them, six in total.
Thankfully, her storage space had a freshness-preserving function. Otherwise, in this weather, they would have gone bad.
