Chapter 27: Chapter 3
On Lan Yuchu’s side, after taking a shower and coming out, he saw that Lin Qiyue was already lying in bed, her milk powder finished. Only then did he contentedly take the bowl out to wash.
Once everything was tidied up, he turned off the lights and climbed into bed.
“Wife~” Lan Yuchu’s approach made Lin Qiyue tremble slightly. Noticing her fear, he said in a hoarse voice, “Don’t be nervous, I won’t do anything. I just want to hold you while we sleep.”
At that moment, he felt like a terrible person—for making his wife feel so uncomfortable.
Hearing his promise, Lin Qiyue finally relaxed a little. But then Lan Yuchu suddenly kissed her neck.
She recoiled and asked in a wronged voice, “Didn’t you say you wouldn’t do anything? I’m not in the right state right now.”
“Just a kiss, nothing else,” Lan Yuchu said. As long as he got close to Lin Qiyue, he couldn’t help but want to kiss her.
“You smell so good! Is this the new soap you bought today?” he asked. The scent was incredibly enticing.
“Mhm, I bought it today and tried it out. It’s really nice. You should try it next time too,” Lin Qiyue replied.
“I don’t need it. It’s enough if you use it. When you run out, I’ll buy more for you,” Lan Yuchu said.
Hearing that, Lin Qiyue was instantly overjoyed and turned to look at him.
Seeing her take the initiative, Lan Yuchu thought he might have a chance and leaned in for a kiss. But Lin Qiyue stopped him with her hand and said seriously, “Hubby, I want to make three rules with you.”
“Why?” Lan Yuchu sensed something was off. He had a feeling he might not be able to accept the conditions she was about to lay out.
“Just say yes or no,” Lin Qiyue pressed.
“You tell me first,” Lan Yuchu said.
Seeing his unwilling expression, Lin Qiyue immediately lost interest. “Forget it, you clearly won’t agree anyway.”
“If you don’t say, how can I agree?” Lan Yuchu panicked when he saw her about to turn her back to him in anger.
Realizing he might be giving in, Lin Qiyue gently stroked his face and smiled as she made her demands: “First, I don’t want to have children too early.”
Although Lan Yuchu had similar thoughts—she was too thin and not suited for pregnancy right now—he still asked, “Is it that you don’t want kids, or you don’t like kids?”
“It’s not that. I just think we’re still young. I don’t want to rush into it. I want to spend more time with you, build our life together. Once we have children, everything will revolve around the family. And we’re still in the stage of getting to know each other. If we’re not compatible, we might end up divorcing.”
Lan Yuchu hugged her tighter. “We won’t get divorced. I agree with this rule. What’s the second one?”
He definitely didn’t want a divorce. His wife was beautiful and kind—where could he possibly find someone like her again?
“Hmm, the second rule… we shouldn’t sleep together too often. Twice a month is enough.”
Lan Yuchu: “……”
He knew she would say that. Twice a month? Might as well become a monk. No way was he agreeing to that.
With a dark expression, he continued, “And the third?”
“The third rule…” Lin Qiyue thought for a moment and said, “You can’t be fierce with me. Your serious face and tone scare me. If you keep being so stern, I won’t stay with you anymore.”
This man was usually kind and gentle, but when it came to matters of principle, his expressions were terrifying—just like her strict high school math teacher. A true psychological shadow.
“I’m not being fierce—it’s just a habit. I’ll try to change. So I accept the first and third rule. But the second one—no way. That’s a firm no.”
He gave his counter-proposal.
“Then three times a month. No more,” Lin Qiyue bargained.
“Nope, still unacceptable.”
“Then four times. If you don’t agree, you’re sleeping on the floor.” She laid down her final card. Anything more, she really couldn’t handle. This man was just too much for her physically—her body couldn’t take it every day.
“Then I want extended time—Sunday nights until morning,” he said. If it was only once a week, he needed to go all out to feel satisfied.
“You…” Lin Qiyue pushed him away in frustration. “Are you trying to kill me? I’ll die young at this rate!”
“If you make me eat vegetarian every day, I’ll starve! I’m your man. I’ve gone three years of marriage eating vegetarian. I want meat!”
Saying that, he nuzzled her neck and hugged her tighter.
His actions made Lin Qiyue’s back tingle—this damned man always had a way to get to her.
She always lost in the end, even her sharp tongue couldn’t win. It was so unfair.
“Then go get a divorce and marry your white moonlight!” she said.
“I don’t even know this white moonlight—why would I marry her? You’re my wife. I haven’t made any mistakes, haven’t hit you, haven’t yelled at you. No family drama—no divorce,” Lan Yuchu reaffirmed his position.
He didn’t like how Lin Qiyue always had “divorce” on her lips.
Lin Qiyue suddenly realized—people in this era didn’t even understand the term “white moonlight.”
“Honey, stop mentioning divorce all the time—it really hurts me. If you’re upset that I wasn’t around these past years and feel wronged, you can hit me, yell at me, anything—but I won’t accept divorce, or your second rule.”
He could be flexible in many things, but not those two.
Lin Qiyue was helpless. There was no room to negotiate.
And even if she refused, it wouldn’t really work if he didn’t agree.
“Then I won’t mention divorce again. But you have to treat me well, and respect me. I’ll respect you too, and we’ll share the responsibility of keeping our home happy. As for that other thing, let’s not talk about it now. But you must get my consent first. That’s my final bottom line.”
If he agreed now, he could always disagree later—it wasn’t all that different from what they’d just talked about. Lan Yuchu was quite satisfied and leaned close to Lin Qiyue’s ear, saying, “Okay, I promise you.”
He had his own ways of getting her to talk—and if those didn’t work, he’d just make sure she didn’t get the chance to speak at all.
The young couple each harbored their own little thoughts.
After their conversation, Lan Yuchu happily cuddled his wife to sleep.
It was a night of sweet dreams!
By the time Lin Qiyue woke up the next morning, the man was no longer beside her. He had a habit of getting up early—probably out running again.
She got up, washed up, changed clothes, and headed out.
In the living room, she saw breakfast laid out for her—fried dough sticks, steamed buns, and a bowl of millet porridge.
“You’re awake, wifey?”
Just as she sat down, Lan Yuchu came back from outside, wearing a tank top and drenched in sweat.
Seeing him dressed like that made Lin Qiyue very excited.
This man had been wearing that kind of outfit for days to tempt her—eventually, she caved and let him have his way completely.
“Mm, just got up.”
Honestly, she had no self-control—she just couldn’t resist temptation!
Lan Yuchu walked over under her gaze, bent down, and kissed her on the forehead.
“Eat your breakfast first. After I shower, I’ll take you to the factory to handle your resignation paperwork. Then we’re going to meet someone.”
“Who?” she asked curiously.
Lan Yuchu smiled, “You’ll see when we get there.”
He wanted to keep it a surprise and didn’t say anything more, turning around and heading back to the bedroom.
“You’ll see when we get there? What kind of answer is that?” she muttered in complaint.
But since he wasn’t telling, she could only wait to find out. Let’s see what he was up to.
Half an hour later, Lan Yuchu took Lin Qiyue out, riding a bicycle slowly toward the factory.
As they exited the family compound, Duan Guohong’s car happened to drive past. He caught sight of Lan Yuchu with a girl on the back of his bike.
The girl’s side profile instantly made him tense—he couldn’t help but stare at her.
That familiar figure reminded him of his wife.
Suddenly, it hit him—he’d never actually seen Lan Yuchu’s second sister-in-law. He’d heard things about her, sure, but had never met her in person.
The car quickly drove past. He looked back, trying to get a better look, but Lan Yuchu’s body blocked his view of her face.
He turned around and sighed helplessly.
Maybe it was just his guilt—he kept seeing her in anyone who looked even slightly like her.
Lin Qiyue’s parents were confirmed dead. That was a solid fact.
There was no way she could be his child!
He quickly forced that sudden thought out of his mind.
The driver noticed the general’s strange behavior but said nothing and stayed focused on the road.
Lan Yuchu waited at the factory gate for Lin Qiyue for over ten minutes.
The resignation process was fast—she even received her final paycheck on the spot.
When she came out, she was visibly excited.
“I’m free now! Let’s go?”
Beaming, Lin Qiyue pulled Lan Yuchu close and gave him a kiss before hopping on the back of the bike and wrapping her arms around his waist.
Lan Yuchu smiled dotingly and pedaled them toward their next destination.
