Chapter 22

This was also why Fu Chunian hesitated to tell Lu Lanlan for so long.

“Lanlan, it’s okay. It can be covered up. Once your injury heals, I’ll teach you how to tie it so no one will notice, okay?”

Lu Lanlan looked at Fu Chunian in surprise. “You know how to do hair?”

“Yeah, I do. I used to do my little aunt’s hair all the time at home,” Fu Chunian replied.

“Why did your little aunt ask you to do her hair? Couldn’t she do it herself?” Lu Lanlan asked, puzzled.

“No, it was me who insisted on doing it for her,” Fu Chunian admitted.

At first, his little aunt had refused, saying his skills were too poor. But after a lot of practice, he got better and better, and eventually, she let him do it.

“Why did you like doing your little aunt’s hair?” Lu Lanlan was even more confused.

Fu Chunian smiled. “Because I wanted to perfect my skills so I could do my wife’s hair every day in the future.”

Lu Lanlan hadn’t expected such an answer and chuckled. “Well, whoever marries you in the future will be lucky.”

“You really think so?” Fu Chunian looked at Lu Lanlan intently.

But Lu Lanlan didn’t catch his deeper meaning and simply nodded. “Yeah.”

“Then… how about I do your hair every day from now on?” Fu Chunian asked cautiously.

Lu Lanlan laughed. “Are you just using me for practice since your little aunt isn’t around?”

Fu Chunian looked at her, realizing she still didn’t understand his intentions. He lowered his head and let out a bitter chuckle.

“Oh, are you embarrassed now?” Lu Lanlan thought he was just shy. “But I can’t let you practice on me. Imagine me walking to your room every morning with my hair down and then coming out with my hair done—what would people think?”

Fu Chunian thought about it and felt a bit disappointed.

In the end, he could only teach Lu Lanlan how to do her own hair.

From then on, Gu Yu suffered the consequences. Every afternoon and evening, Lu Lanlan would drag her over to practice hairstyling.

For the first few days, Gu Yu genuinely felt like Lu Lanlan was going to pull all her hair out.

“Sis, can you at least leave me some hair? Please!”

“Don’t worry, you have plenty of hair. Losing a little won’t matter. I’m almost done practicing,” Lu Lanlan reassured her.

After a few days, Lu Lanlan finally got the hang of it.

“How does it look? Pretty good, right?”

“Not bad. I won’t take it down. I’ll wear it like this to work this afternoon,” Gu Yu said as she admired herself in the mirror, unconsciously smiling.

After Lu Lanlan perfected a few hairstyles using Gu Yu’s hair, her own injury healed.

Then, their roles reversed—now it was Gu Yu who kept chasing after Lu Lanlan, asking her to do her hair.

To avoid having to do Gu Yu’s hair every day, Lu Lanlan started teaching her how to do it herself.

After a few days of practice, Gu Yu finally learned.

“Lanlan, guess what I saw today?”

During their midday break, Gu Yu ran up to Lu Lanlan, looking mysterious.

Ever since their misunderstanding had been cleared up, the two had grown much closer.

“What did you see?” Lu Lanlan asked.

“I saw those two kissing,” Gu Yu said with a disgusted expression.

“Which two?” Lu Lanlan asked, confused.

“Those two with the bricks,” Gu Yu replied.

Lu Lanlan’s eyes widened. “Are you sure you didn’t see wrong?”

“No mistake. Remember when I told you I saw her showering? I was suspicious back then, and now it’s clear—she gave in,” Gu Yu whispered.

Lu Lanlan lowered her gaze and didn’t say anything.

“What’s so good about a woman being with another woman?” Gu Yu looked puzzled and then curiously glanced at Lu Lanlan.

Fu Chunian, who had been silently listening nearby, couldn’t take it anymore. He cleared his throat and pulled Lu Lanlan aside.

Lu Lanlan looked at him, confused.

Fu Chunian turned to Gu Yu and said seriously, “Don’t look at my girlfriend like that. She’s my girlfriend. She’s mine.”

Lu Lanlan blinked, looking at Gu Yu, silently asking, What kind of look did you give me?

Gu Yu awkwardly laughed. “Sorry, sorry, I was just curious. But don’t worry, I like men. I can guarantee that.”

Lu Lanlan shot her a look, exasperated.

“I don’t believe you. Stay away from my girlfriend,” Fu Chunian warned.

Gu Yu laughed. “Your girlfriend and I share a room. How am I supposed to stay away from her?”

As soon as she said that, she regretted it. What if Fu Chunian asked Lu Lanlan to move out?

Before she could take it back, she heard Fu Chunian say to Lu Lanlan, “I’ll talk to the supervisor and have my room partitioned. We’ll turn that window into a door so you can move in with me.”

Gu Yu quickly signaled to Lu Lanlan, begging her not to agree.

Lu Lanlan was about to speak when Fu Chunian added, “You’re my girlfriend. You should be on my side.”

“Uh…” Lu Lanlan glanced between the two of them. “Can we talk about this later?”

She was actually fine with moving—having her own space would be more convenient, even if the room was small. But she also worried that if she left, Gu Yu might end up in trouble.

Seeing that Fu Chunian wasn’t going to let it go without an answer, Lu Lanlan tugged on his sleeve and pleaded, “Can we talk about it later, please?”

Fu Chunian sighed, realizing she had already made up her mind, and started walking toward the dormitory.

“Lanlan, you really can’t leave!”

After Fu Chunian left, Gu Yu clung to Lu Lanlan’s arm.

“Mm.”

Hearing Lu Lanlan’s promise, Gu Yu finally sighed in relief. “Now go make up with your boyfriend.”

Lu Lanlan chuckled and ran after Fu Chunian.

When he reached the dormitory, Fu Chunian went straight into his room, and Lu Lanlan followed him in.

“Gu Yu doesn’t like women, so you don’t have to worry about me,” she said.

Of course, Fu Chunian already knew that Gu Yu liked men. He even knew exactly which man she liked.

But Gu Yu was always clinging to Lu Lanlan, which meant that aside from mealtime, he barely had any time alone with her.

“Lu Lanlan, between me and Gu Yu, your two ‘friends,’ who do you think is more important?” Fu Chunian asked.

“Of course, you are. You’re my meal ticket right now,” Lu Lanlan answered without hesitation.

Although their relationship was technically a business arrangement, Fu Chunian treated her really well.

All she had to do was pretend to be his girlfriend, and in exchange, she didn’t have to cook, didn’t have to spend money on food or clothes.

When she was injured, Fu Chunian took care of her, accompanied her to change her bandages, and even bought chicken and fish to help her recover.

If she ignored the fact that their relationship was fake, he was the best person to her aside from her uncle and aunt.

Wait… they were only pretending to be a couple.

So why was Fu Chunian treating her so well?

And why had his reaction just now been so intense?

Even if he was acting for others, wasn’t he going a little overboard?
