Xie Ling held up the book with surprise, “You want to buy this book?”

Yu Xiangnian nodded.

Xie Ling hesitated for a moment, looking a bit troubled. “This book belongs to a friend of ours, and he values these books a lot.”

Liu Chunwei, standing beside her, asked, “What do you need this book for? Most people wouldn’t understand it.”

Yu Xiangnian replied earnestly, “I want to buy it for my husband. Not long ago, when he was on a mission, the radio broke down and he couldn’t contact headquarters. He tried to fix it for a long time but couldn’t.”

“With this book, he could self-study some knowledge about radio and circuits, which might be useful for him in the future.”

Seeing Yu Xiangnian’s eager expression, Xie Ling and Liu Chunwei were also in a dilemma.

Such a book was too rare, and they had planned to mail it back to Old Zhang once they reached Su City.

Noticing their hesitation, Yu Xiangnian asked, “Is your friend still in Nan City?”

“Alright! I’ll give you this book for your husband to study. After he’s done, return it to Old Zhang.”

She paused and added, “I’ll write a letter of introduction for you so your husband can take it to him and ask any questions if needed.”

Cheng Jingmo, who had been standing outside and overheard their conversation, felt a mix of bitterness and sweetness.

Only Yu Xiangnian, upon seeing a book that might be useful to him, went out of her way to get it for him.

Cheng Jingmo composed himself and walked in.

Yu Xiangnian, proudly holding up the book, waved it in front of him.

Cheng Jingmo pretended to be clueless. “Principles and Fundamentals of Radio Communication? Where did you get this book?”

“From the teachers,” Yu Xiangnian said. “They lent it to you for study. It needs to be returned later.”

Cheng Jingmo expressed his thanks and took the book from Yu Xiangnian’s hand. “Just what I needed. I’ve been wanting to learn about this.”

When Xie Ling finished writing the letter of introduction, Yu Xiangnian glanced at it and saw that the addressee was Zhang Guoping.

Isn’t that the author of this book?!

Yu Xiangnian exclaimed, “The Old Zhang you mentioned is the author of this book?”

Xie Ling nodded. “Feel free to ask him anything. The more difficult, the more he enjoys it.”

Yu Xiangnian had Cheng Jingmo put away the book and the letter, and they all went to the dining car for lunch.

From Xie Ling and Liu Chunwei, they learned that Zhang Guoping was an expert in radio communication. He had been a professor at a university in Beijing but had come here due to identity issues.

After lunch, as they returned to their compartment, Yu Xiangnian tugged at Cheng Jingmo’s sleeve and whispered, “You’re really lucky to meet such prominent people on this trip!”

“And don’t worry about returning the book,” she added.

Zhang Guoping, having written the book himself, had memorized it thoroughly; there was no need to return it!

Cheng Jingmo’s lips curved into a slight smile.

All his luck came from Yu Xiangnian. She seemed to be his lucky star.

From his two achievements and safe return to now getting such a precious book, it was all because of Yu Xiangnian.

After being on the train for over forty hours, with no space for activity other than sitting or lying down, Yu Xiangnian felt her calves were a bit swollen.

She mentioned it casually to Cheng Jingmo.

Unexpectedly, Cheng Jingmo took the opportunity when everyone else was asleep, had Yu Xiangnian lie on the bed with her legs resting on his lap, and gave her a massage.

One sat and the other lay, both too shy to speak, exchanging glances.

Yu Xiangnian’s feet playfully teased Cheng Jingmo, who took her foot and kissed it.

“No disturbance at all. As we get older, we need less sleep.”

Yu Xiangnian felt even more embarrassed hearing that. Xie Ling had definitely seen what happened between her and Cheng Jingmo last night.

Quickly changing the subject, Yu Xiangnian asked, “Teacher Xie, are you going to Su City for research?”

Xie Ling replied, “We’re going to Dingcheng and will transfer in Su City. We’ll be staying in Su City for about a week. What about you?”

Yu Xiangnian said, “We’re heading back to my husband’s hometown, Ping County.”

“That’s quite far!”

They chatted for a while, but unfortunately, without phones or similar devices, they couldn’t exchange contact information.

The next day, at 10:30 AM, the train arrived in Su City.

Cheng Jingmo took out their outerwear and helped them put it on. “I’ll first take you to the guesthouse and then go buy bus tickets.”

The guesthouse didn’t have private bathrooms; showers were in a public bathhouse.

Having not showered for two days, Yu Xiangnian was eager to get clean.

This was her first time in such a bathhouse. As she approached, she could already feel the heat and hear the occasional laughter of women coming from inside.

Carrying her clothes and toiletries, she walked in and was stunned.

Although the room was filled with steam, she could clearly see several naked women standing around.

Hot water flowed from overhead faucets, and the women chatted while they washed.

There were no partitions in the bathhouse, so everyone could clearly see each other’s bodies.

The woman laughed heartily, “Then your man must be touching you all night, not wanting to let go.”

Although it was true, she didn’t discuss such topics with anyone except Cheng Jingmo.

She turned around to face away from them.

“Your butt is so perky too!” the woman said. “Your man must be very lucky!”

It’s said that when women become lustful, they can be just as bold as men!

The women’s conversation became even less restrained.
