Chapter 109: Critical Condition
Ling Yao got into the car and didn’t hesitate to start the engine quickly.
With a push of the gas pedal, the car sped off like lightning.
Ji Yuanzhou ran breathlessly to the front of the car. He tried to catch up, but the car had already sped away, disappearing from sight in an instant.
Outside the operating room, Old Master Lu and Lu Qingyu were waiting anxiously.
Their eyes were filled with worry and unease. Every second of waiting felt like a lifetime.
Old Master Lu’s hands were tightly clenched, his brow furrowed, and the wrinkles on his face deepened.
“Grandpa! Don’t worry. Big brother will be fine.” Lu Qingyu comforted Old Master Lu, but he was also suffering inside, filled with deep worry and anxiety.
The operating room door slowly opened, and a doctor walked out with heavy steps. His face was filled with seriousness.
Old Master Lu and Lu Qingyu were heartbroken. They rushed forward, their eyes filled with anxiety and worry.
“Doctor, how is my grandson?” Old Master Lu’s voice trembled. His wrinkled face revealed his inner fear and unease.
“How is my big brother?”
The doctor slowly shook his head and sighed, “We’ve done everything we can. Captain Lu’s injuries are too severe.
You can go in and see him.” His eyes were filled with helplessness and regret.
These words were like a bolt from the blue, striking Old Master Lu’s heart. His eyes instantly dimmed, and his body involuntarily staggered backward.
“Grandpa!” Lu Qingyu cried out in alarm. He quickly reached out to support Old Master Lu, afraid that he would fall to the ground.
Old Master Lu suppressed his grief and slowly straightened up, “Let’s go in…”
Lu Qingyu’s eyes were red-rimmed, and tears welled up in his eyes.
He supported Old Master Lu and walked towards the operating room step by step.
Just as they entered, Ling Yao arrived. She saw the doctor and rushed forward, “Doctor, how is Lu Qingyun now?”
The doctor shook his head solemnly.
“Doctor, can I go in and see Lu Qingyun?”
“Who are you?” The doctor looked at Ling Yao in confusion.
“I’m his girlfriend.”
“Okay, go in quickly.”
Ling Yao was heartbroken. She rushed into the operating room. Before she even entered, a strong smell of blood filled her nostrils.
Old Master Lu was full of sadness. His trembling hands held Lu Qingyun’s hand tightly.
He seemed to have aged ten years in an instant. His eyes revealed despair and helplessness, as if all his energy and spirit had been drained in an instant.
Lu Qingyu stood beside him, his eyes red-rimmed, tears welling up. His body trembled uncontrollably from extreme grief.
Ling Yao quickly went to Lu Qingyun’s side. Her hands trembled slightly as she gently held Lu Qingyun’s hand and then placed her finger on his pulse.
When she truly felt the faint pulse, her heart felt like it had been hit hard by a heavy hammer. It sank.
She quickly took a pill from her pocket and put it in Lu Qingyun’s mouth. She prayed that the pill would work.
Lu Qingyun only had a faint pulse. She didn’t know if her pill could save him.
“Who are you? What did you give my big brother?” Seeing this, Lu Qingyu asked angrily.
Ling Yao ignored Lu Qingyu. Her gaze was fixed on Lu Qingyun, “Lu Qingyun, you promised me.
You said that when you came back, you would take me to meet your family. You can’t break your promise.”
Suddenly, she felt the hand she was holding move slightly.
Ling Yao’s eyes instantly lit up. She couldn’t wait to check Lu Qingyun’s pulse again.
Feeling that his pulse was stronger than before, her tears instantly streamed down her face.
“Go get the doctor. He’s still alive.”
Hearing this, Lu Qingyu glanced at Lu Qingyun, hesitated slightly, and turned to leave.
The doctor soon arrived at the operating room. He looked at the numbers on the heart monitor, a look of surprise on his face,
“Captain Lu is still alive. You can all go out. I’ll operate on him immediately.”
Hearing the doctor’s words, Ling Yao, Lu Qingyu, and Old Master Lu all breathed a sigh of relief.
“You have to be safe.” Ling Yao gently released Lu Qingyun’s hand.
At this moment, Lu Qingyun opened his eyes with difficulty. His gaze fell on Ling Yao.
He used all his strength and said weakly, “Wait for me…” His voice was like a promise from the depths of his soul.
“Okay.” Ling Yao nodded forcefully, tears in her eyes, and then slowly backed out of the operating room.
Old Master Lu stared at Ling Yao for a long time. He didn’t expect that Ling Yao was his grandson’s girlfriend.
Thankfully, he hadn’t let his second grandson meet her. Otherwise, it would have been so embarrassing.
Time passed minute by minute. Finally, the light in the operating room went out.
The doctor walked out of the operating room. Before Old Master Lu and the others could ask, he announced loudly,
“Captain Lu has passed the critical stage. Once he’s transferred to the ward, you can go visit him.”
“Okay, great…” Old Master Lu was so excited that tears welled up in his eyes.
Lu Qingyu was also overjoyed, “Big brother is okay. He’s okay. Great!”
Ling Yao sniffed back her slightly sour nose and gave a happy smile. She knew Lu Qingyun would pull through.
After Lu Qingyun was transferred to the ward, Ling Yao and the others rushed to the ward.
Lu Qingyun was wrapped in thick bandages, lying quietly in bed like a mummy.
But his eyes were wide open. When he saw Ling Yao, a happy smile appeared in his eyes.
He slowly raised his hand with difficulty and said in a hoarse voice,
“Yaoyao…” When he was injured and closed his eyes, he thought he would never see Yaoyao again.
He was filled with despair and reluctance. Thankfully, he was still alive and could see his beloved.
Ling Yao quickly walked to Lu Qingyun’s side, reached out, and held his hand, “Don’t move. Be careful not to pull on your wound.”
Her eyes flashed with a hint of heartache and reproach.
Lu Qingyun forced a weak smile, “I saw you… happy…”
Ling Yao glared at Lu Qingyun, “Didn’t I give you medicine? Why are you still so injured?”
Lu Qingyun took a shallow breath, “I gave it… to others… I couldn’t watch them…”
Ling Yao looked at Lu Qingyun, whose face was pale, and felt heartache. “Alright, don’t talk. Close your eyes and sleep for a while.”
She wanted to pull her hand back, but Lu Qingyun held on tightly and refused to let go.
Ling Yao smiled helplessly and let him be.
Old Master Lu walked to the bedside, looked at the weak Lu Qingyun, and his eyes were filled with tenderness.
Lu Qingyun’s accident had really scared him. Thankfully, he was saved in the end.
Lu Qingyun looked at Old Master Lu, “Grandpa… I worried you… She’s my girlfriend… Ling Yao…”
