Chapter 126: I Need Your Help
Gu Qingan learned that his mother and sister had been taken away by the police station, his heart sank, and he fainted.
When he woke up again, it was already nightfall outside.
He struggled to get up, but the pain in his body made it impossible for him to move.
At this moment, the ward door was gently pushed open, and a nurse walked in.
Gu Qingan struggled to raise his head, his gaze falling on the person, his eyes instantly lit up, “Jiang Lan…”
Jiang Lan’s expression was emotionless. She walked to the bedside, placed the tray with medicine on the bedside table, and then skillfully picked up a bottle of saline solution, replacing the one that was almost empty for Gu Qingan.
“Can you… help me with something…” Gu Qingan’s face was as pale as paper, his lips trembling slightly, as if each word took all his strength.
He stared intently at Jiang Lan’s eyes, a plea in his gaze.
But Jiang Lan ignored Gu Qingan. After quickly changing the saline solution, she turned and left without hesitation.
For the past two days, because of Gu Qingan’s situation, she had been taking time off work and resting at home.
It was only today, when she returned to work at the hospital, that she heard about what had happened between Gu Qingan and Zhou Yu.
She was grateful that she hadn’t continued to get entangled with Gu Qingan.
“Jiang Lan…… Don’t leave…… Help me…… Please……” Seeing Jiang Lan about to leave, Gu Qingan became anxious. His voice was getting weaker and weaker. He was most worried about his mother and sister. He wanted to know how they were doing.
Hearing Gu Qingan’s anxious call, Jiang Lan finally stopped, but she didn’t turn back to look at him. She just stood quietly in place.
After a moment, Jiang Lan slowly turned her head. Her gaze was calm as she looked at Gu Qingan,
“They were detained for insulting and slandering a military dependent. They will be detained for half a month.”
After saying this, Jiang Lan took another step and left the ward without looking back.
Gu Qingan was left alone, lying on the bed, dazed. He hadn’t expected things to become so serious…
In the morning, the air was fresh and pleasant. A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, making a rustling sound.
Birds sang happily in the treetops, as if welcoming the arrival of a new day.
Ling Yao supported Lu Qingyun as they walked slowly down the corridor.
After two days of quiet recuperation, Lu Qingyun’s wounds had almost completely healed.
The director and doctors were surprised to see Lu Qingyun’s recovery. This recovery speed was truly amazing, beyond their imagination.
They knew that ordinary people who had suffered such serious injuries would need to rest for at least ten days or half a month before they could get out of bed and walk around.
But Lu Qingyun had been able to walk around in just three or four days. How could they not be surprised?
“Captain Lu! Comrade Ling Yao!” Chu Cheng walked towards Lu Qingyun and Ling Yao with a friendly smile on his face.
Lu Qingyun and Ling Yao smiled back, “Doctor Chu!”
As Lu Qingyun’s attending physician, Chu Cheng had always been conscientious and responsible.
During their time together, Chu Cheng’s professional skills and dedication had left a deep impression on them.
“Captain Lu’s spirits are good today. You can walk around a little today. We’ll do a check-up tomorrow.
If everything is fine, you can be discharged from the hospital.” Chu Cheng smiled at Lu Qingyun.
“Okay, thank you, Doctor Chu!” Lu Qingyun nodded in response.
Chu Cheng smiled and waved his hand,
“Where did I do anything? It’s all thanks to Comrade Ling Yao.”
If it weren’t for Ling Yao, Lu Qingyun’s serious injury would have left him bedridden.
Lu Qingyun turned to look at Ling Yao, a faint smile on his lips.
His deep, pool-like eyes were filled with endless tenderness and affection.
Ling Yao smiled back.
“Comrade Ling Yao, that, can I ask you for a favor?” Chu Cheng hesitated to speak.
Ling Yao raised her eyebrows slightly and turned to look at Chu Cheng, “Doctor Chu, tell me what you need my help with first.”
“Well, my cousin was injured. He’s been unconscious for almost a month.
We’ve tried everything, but he still hasn’t shown any signs of waking up. So I wanted to ask you to go take a look at him.”
He had also asked Liu Wenshan to take a look, but Liu Wenshan was also helpless.
Liu Wenshan suggested that he ask Ling Yao for help. He said Ling Yao’s medical skills were extraordinary.
He also carefully recalled that Lu Qingyun’s injury was very serious. In the operating room, a critical notice had been issued.
He was only left with his last breath, but after Ling Yao went in, Lu Qingyun’s condition improved.
He had asked the nurses in the operating room, and they said Ling Yao had given Lu Qingyun a pill.
So, after careful consideration, he decided to ask Ling Yao for help.
Ling Yao thought for a moment and nodded, “I’ll just go take a look. I can’t guarantee I can help.”
“It’s okay. As long as you’re willing to go, that’s enough.” Chu Cheng said happily.
“When should I go?”
“How about this afternoon?”
Ling Yao glanced at Lu Qingyun and nodded, “Okay.”
“Thank you, Comrade Ling Yao!” Chu Cheng thanked her happily. If his cousin could wake up, his grandfather would be very happy.
His grandfather’s spirits have been very low for the past month because of his cousin.
“I’ll come find you this afternoon.”
“Okay.”
After Chu Cheng left, Ling Yao supported Lu Qingyun and walked towards the ward.
The door to Gu Qingan’s ward was ajar, not completely closed. He turned his head inadvertently and happened to see Ling Yao supporting Lu Qingyun.
“Ling Yao…” Gu Qingan subconsciously whispered. His voice wasn’t loud, but it was particularly clear in the quiet corridor.
Ling Yao gave him a cold look, her eyes filled with indifference and disdain.
Gu Qingan opened his mouth. He had many questions for Ling Yao. She was clearly the Ling Yao who was engaged to him.
Why wouldn’t she admit it? Why did she treat his mother and sister like that, causing them to be imprisoned?
Ling Yao withdrew her gaze and continued to support Lu Qingyun towards the ward, as if every moment she spent with him filled her with disgust.
Looking at Ling Yao’s back, Gu Qingan was filled with bitterness and helplessness. He regretted it.
If he hadn’t broken off the engagement, how much better would things have been?
He wouldn’t have married Zhou Yu and wouldn’t have ended up like this.
In the afternoon, Ling Yao followed Chu Cheng to his cousin Chu Lie’s ward.
She pushed open the door and saw a pale man lying quietly in bed.
He closed his eyes, his facial features were very handsome.
His tall nose, slightly upturned lips, and sharp jawline all showed his former charm and charisma. Such a face made one think of the poem
“A man on the street, like jade, a gentleman beyond compare.”
