Chapter 138: Warning

Lin Xuxu walked over to sit beside Lu Hongyan and handed her a beautiful box, saying softly, “Auntie, this is a little gift I picked out for you. I hope you like it.”

Lu Hongyan happily took the gift and eagerly opened the box. Inside lay a colorful and vibrant silk scarf.

 Her eyes lit up, “Xuxu, you’re so thoughtful! I love this scarf.”

She reached into the box and took out the scarf, feeling its silky smooth texture. She nodded in satisfaction,

 “This scarf is a beautiful color, and it’s made of mulberry silk. The feel is amazing.”

Lin Xuxu smiled slightly, “This scarf is from a famous brand overseas.

 I specially asked a classmate to bring it back for me. Auntie, your skin is fair and your temperament is elegant and refined.

 This scarf is perfect for you. Come, let me help you put it on and see.”

As she spoke, Lin Xuxu reached out to take the scarf and carefully tied it around Lu Hongyan’s neck, skillfully tying a beautiful knot.

“There you go, Auntie. Go look in the mirror and see if you like it.”

Lu Hongyan nodded with a smile and got up to go to the mirror in the bathroom. She took a look, “It looks good! Xuxu, you have such good taste!”

“I’m glad you like it, Auntie.”

Lu Hongyan, full of joy, took Lin Xuxu’s hand and led her back to the sofa to sit down. “Xuxu, Auntie remembers that you’re twenty this year, right? Have you thought about finding a boyfriend?

Auntie just happens to know a very good young man, Qingyun. I remember you’ve met before, do you still remember him?”

Hearing this, Lin Xuxu blushed and nodded, “I remember Brother Qingyun , he’s a very outstanding person.”

 Even if they had already obtained their marriage certificate, what did it matter?

She was still confident that she could successfully break them up.

“I’ll listen to Auntie.” Lin Xuxu blushed and nodded in response.

Lu Hongyan smiled in satisfaction. Just as she was about to speak, she suddenly felt a strange sensation in her lower abdomen.

 Her face changed, and she clutched her stomach in pain.

“Auntie, what’s wrong?” Seeing this, Lin Xuxu quickly helped Lu Hongyan up and looked at her with concern.

“It’s nothing… it’ll be fine soon…” Her lower abdomen had been aching slightly for a month, and recently the pain had intensified, accompanied by itching and an unpleasant odor.

She was supposed to go to the hospital for a check-up today, but she was so angry about Lu Qingyun and Ling Yao getting their marriage certificate that she didn’t go.

“Auntie, why don’t I go with you to the hospital?” Lin Xuxu said with concern.

Lu Hongyan felt a little better and waved her hand, sitting up, “It’s okay, don’t worry. I’ll have your uncle accompany me tomorrow.”

“Then you must go tomorrow.” Lin Xuxu urged, not feeling at ease.

“Okay! I will!” Lu Hongyan smiled and took Lin Xuxu’s hand, patting it gently. She liked Xuxu more and more. Only a lady like Xuxu was worthy of entering their Lu family.

“Big sister!” At this moment, Lu Hongmei walked in from outside. Her face wasn’t looking good.

“What’s wrong?” Lu Dagou looked at Lu Hongmei.

Lu Hongmei sat down beside Lu Hongyan, “I just received a call from Qingyun. He knows that we’re behind all of this.”

Lu Hongyan’s face changed, “What did he say?”

“He said he would tell Dad about this. He also warned me that if it happens again, he won’t hesitate to take action against our husbands.”

Lu Hongmei’s voice revealed a clear sense of fear. Her nephew was always a man of his word.

“What? He’s threatening us for that woman? We’re his own aunts. Is that country girl more important than us?”

 Lu Hongyan trembled with anger. The discomfort in her lower abdomen, which had been bothering her, intensified.

“Auntie! Don’t be angry. What happened to Brother Qingyun? And who is this woman?”

Lin Xuxu, who was listening on the side, was completely confused, but she caught the key information.

It seemed that Lu Qingyun already had someone he liked, and because of her, he had a conflict with Auntie and even issued a threat.

Lu Hongyan hesitated for a moment before deciding to tell Lin Xuxu the whole story.

 “Sigh, he got his marriage certificate with a country girl. But Xuxu, don’t worry, I will find a way to make Qingyun divorce that woman.

 Only you are truly suitable for Qingyun.”

Lin Xuxu’s face turned pale. She was shocked and asked, “Brother Qingyun… he… he’s married?”

 She couldn’t believe what she had just heard. A wave of disappointment and pain washed over her.

“Xuxu, don’t be sad. With Auntie here, no one can take Qingyun away from you.” Lu Hongyan quickly comforted Lin Xuxu.

Lin Xuxu forced a smile, stood up, “Auntie, I’m not feeling well, I’ll go back first.” Qingyun was already married, so was there still hope for her?

“Okay.” Lu Dagou and Lu Hongmei had something else to discuss, so they didn’t try to keep Lin Xuxu.

“Big sister! What should we do about this? If Dad finds out, he’ll scold us to death.” Lu Hongmei was most afraid of Old Man Lu.

Lu Hongyan was about to speak when the phone in the living room rang urgently.

Lu Hongyan and Lu Hongmei looked at each other, neither of them moving.

The maid came over.

“You answer the phone. Say I’m not home.” Lu Hongyan instructed the maid.

The maid nodded and walked over to answer the phone.

“Old Man Lu! You’re looking for Madam? She’s not home.”

Old Man  Lu’s roar came from the other end of the line, “Tell her to get over here and answer the phone, or she’ll never set foot in the Lu family again!”

The maid gently put down the phone and looked at Lu Hongyan inquiringly.

Lu Hongyan knew her father’s temper, so she could only grit her teeth and walk over to answer the phone, “Dad!”

“You and Hongmei get over here. I have something to ask you. If you’re not at the Lu family in half an hour, I’ll announce in the newspaper that I’m cutting off our father-daughter relationship.” Old Man Lu finished and hung up the phone with a slam.

Lu Hongyan and Lu Hongmei looked at each other, sighed helplessly, and walked towards the door.

They were able to lord it over their husbands’ families because of their status.

 If their father really announced that he was cutting off ties with them, how would they be able to stand their ground in their husbands’ families?
