Chapter 140: Incurable Disease
Lu Hongyan slowly opened her eyes, her vision gradually becoming clearer.
She looked around and realized that she was in a strange room.
White walls, the pungent smell of disinfectant, and medical equipment placed beside the bed. She knew she was in the hospital.
“Big sister! You’re awake.” A familiar voice reached Lu Hongyan’s ears.
Lu Hongyan turned her head and saw Lu Hongmei sitting beside the bed, looking at her with concern.
Lu Ergou’s eyes were red, obviously from crying.
“What happened to me…” Lu Hongyan asked, her voice hoarse and weak. Every word she spoke felt like a tremendous effort.
Her whole body ached, especially her back and lower abdomen. The pain was almost unbearable.
Lu Hongmei reached out and took Lu Hongyan’s hand. She tried to hold back her tears, “Big sister, don’t be afraid, you’ll be fine.
Dad has already invited the Medical Association’s President Zhao. With him here, you’ll be fine.”
Hearing this, Lu Hongyan’s heart sank. An ominous feeling washed over her, “What kind of disease do I have…”
If her illness wasn’t serious, there would be no need to invite someone like President Zhao.
Lu Hongmei’s heart ached. She tried to control her emotions and not cry out loud, but tears still uncontrollably flowed from her eyes.
The doctor had told her earlier that her big sister had cervical cancer, and it was already in the late stage. He asked them to prepare themselves mentally.
“You’re talking. What kind of disease do I have…” Seeing that her sister was reluctant to answer, Lu Hongyan became more agitated.
She shook Lu Hongmei’s shoulders forcefully with both hands.
“Big sister, don’t get excited, it’s not good for your health.” Lu Hongmei reached out and hugged Lu Hongyan, gently patting her back to comfort her.
“Tell me… what disease do I have… don’t hide it from me… I want to know…” Lu Hongyan looked at Lu Hongmei, pleading with her.
She didn’t want to be kept in the dark. Even if it was a bad disease, she wanted to know. She didn’t want to be clueless and uninformed.
Lu Hongmei turned her head and couldn’t hold back her tears anymore. She really couldn’t bring herself to tell her big sister this cruel truth.
At this moment, the door to the ward was pushed open, and Old Master Lu walked in with an elderly man.
Lu Hongmei wiped her tears, stood up, and greeted the two, “Dad! President Zhao!”
Old Master Lu looked at Lu Hongyan in the bed with a heart full of pain.
No matter how angry he was with her, she was still his daughter, his flesh and blood. He felt bad seeing her suffer from this disease.
“Then I’ll leave it to you, President Zhao.”
“Lu Lao, you’re too kind!” President Zhao stepped forward, reaching out his right hand to gently place it on Lu Hongyan’s wrist.
As time passed, his originally relaxed brows gradually furrowed, and his expression became increasingly heavy.
Before coming here, he had carefully reviewed Lu Hongyan’s various examination reports, but after personally diagnosing her, he realized that her actual condition was far more serious than he had anticipated.
After a while, President Zhao withdrew his hand.
Seeing this, Lu Hongmei hurriedly asked, “President Zhao, is my big sister alright?”
Old Master Lu also focused his gaze on President Zhao, eager to get a positive answer from him.
“Come with me outside.” After speaking, President Zhao turned and walked out of the ward.
“President Zhao… there’s no need to go outside… just tell me in front of me… I want to know what disease I have…” Lu Hongyan pleaded with President Zhao.
President Zhao looked at Old Master Lu inquiringly.
Old Master Lu closed his eyes, sighed, and nodded, “Just tell her in front of her.”
President Zhao nodded and looked at Lu Hongyan, speaking slowly, “After a thorough examination and diagnosis, you have cervical cancer. But don’t worry too much.
As long as you actively cooperate with my treatment plan, there is still a good chance that you can overcome this illness.”
Hearing this news, Lu Hongyan’s face instantly turned pale as paper, as if all the blood had drained from her.
“I have cancer? How is that possible… I have cancer…” But she was still young. She didn’t want to die.
“Big sister, don’t be like this. President Zhao will cure you. Don’t worry.” Lu Hongmei’s heart ached seeing Lu Hongyan like this.
She and her big sister had always been the closest, and she didn’t want to see her like this.
President Zhao shook his head and sighed, bidding farewell to Old Master Lu, “Lu Lao! I’ll go back first. I’ll come to the hospital again tomorrow.”
Old Master Lu nodded slightly, “Thank you, President Zhao. Take care.”
After President Zhao left, Old Master Lu retracted his gaze, turned to look at his two daughters who were tightly embracing each other, sighed softly, and walked out of the ward.
Outside the ward, Lu Qingyun and Ling Yao were sitting side by side on a long bench.
Seeing Old Master Lu come out, the two stood up.
“Grandpa, how is Aunt Hongyan?” Lu Qingyun asked with concern. Although he didn’t approve of Aunt Hongyan’s actions, she was his blood relative after all, so he naturally had to care about her.
Old Master Lu shook his head, his voice heavy, “She’s not doing well. You two go in and visit her.”
After speaking, he silently sat down on the bench, lowered his head, and said nothing more.
Lu Qingyun and Ling Yao exchanged a look, walked forward, and pushed open the ward door.
After being comforted by Lu Hongmei, Lu Hongyan’s emotions had stabilized.
Hearing the ward door open, Lu Hongyan and Lu Hongmei turned their heads and saw Lu Qingyun and Ling Yao enter.
Lu Hongyan frowned and pointed at Ling Yao, “Make her leave… I don’t want to see her…”
“Aunt Hongyan, Yaoyao is here to see you out of kindness. Can you stop being unreasonable?” Lu Qingyun’s face darkened, and he looked at Lu Hongyan with displeasure.
“If you want me to die sooner, then let her stay here. Otherwise, make her leave.”
“Qingyun, your aunt is still sick.” Lu Hongmei advised.
Ling Yao reached out and gently patted Lu Qingyun’s hand, giving him a faint smile. She turned and walked out. She didn’t need to argue with a dying person.
Lu Hongyan felt a little better and looked at Lu Qingyun. She waved her hand at him, “Qingyun, come here… Aunt Hongyan has something to tell you…”
Lu Qingyun took a step forward and stopped three steps away from Lu Hongyan and Lu Hongmei.
“Qingyun… Aunt Hongyan might die soon… Can you promise Aunt Hongyan one thing before I die… Otherwise, I won’t be able to rest in peace…”
Lu Qingyun didn’t answer Lu Hongyan. He just looked at her, waiting for her to speak.
“Can you divorce Ling Yao… She’s really not suitable for you…”
