Chapter 23: Future Plans
Gu Qingan felt a surge of anger in his heart. It was he who had rejected Ling Yao first and asked to break off their engagement.
Why did he feel like he was the one who had been abandoned?
He reached out and grabbed Ling Yao’s hand.
Ling Yao, with lightning speed, executed a clean over-the-shoulder throw, sending Gu Qingan tumbling to the ground.
Gu Qingan was thrown off balance and dizzy. Stars were dancing in his eyes, and his face was filled with shock and disbelief.
Ling Yao had actually thrown him to the ground. He was considered one of the best in the army in terms of strength.
Besides that person, no one else could possibly throw him to the ground. But now, he had been easily thrown to the ground by Ling Yao.
Ling Yao looked at Gu Qingan with disdain and gave him the middle finger, “Trash!”
Then, she turned and walked away without looking back.
Gu Qingan lay in the mud, soaked through. It took him a long time to slowly get up, his eyes filled with a hint of unwillingness.
He had been too careless just now. If he had another chance, it would be Ling Yao who would be thrown to the ground.
“Brother Gu, what’s wrong?” Zhou Yu saw Gu Qingan return, covered in mud, and quickly walked over to ask with concern. After two days, the purple iodine on her face had faded a lot.
In two more days, she would be able to go out. When that happened, she would definitely go find Ling Yao and get the jade pendant back. It belonged to her.
Gu Qingan shook his head, “Nothing.” He was feeling a little down now.
“Go change your clothes. Be careful not to catch a cold.”
“Mm.” Gu Qingan nodded and walked towards his room. Tomorrow, he would definitely go find Ling Yao again. He had to try and see who could throw who.
That night, Ling Yao entered the space again. Since entering the space, she had found that she was full of energy every day, and her body was constantly improving. Especially her skin.
Her skin used to be not very white because she often went up the mountains to collect herbs. After being nurtured by the space for these past few days, her skin had become noticeably fairer.
Ling Yao looked at the endless field of medicinal herbs in front of her. Suddenly, an idea flashed in her mind. She smiled and walked into the field to collect herbs.
Her current body was a little heavy. She wanted to lose weight as soon as possible. Besides exercise, she also needed to use medication to achieve twice the results with half the effort.
In her past life, she had researched a weight-loss formula. The formula had no side effects and was very effective.
After she launched the formula, it helped many people who needed to lose weight.
Besides that, school was about to start in a few days.
She had already made connections and planned to retake the college entrance exam. This time, she was determined to get into college.
No matter what difficulties she encountered, she wouldn’t change her mind.
In her past life, she had given up her college dream because of Gu Qingan. Whenever Gu Qingan came back from vacation, her mind was on him.
After graduating from high school, she didn’t continue her education. She just wanted to marry Gu Qingan.
In the end, she ended up in such a tragic situation that she didn’t even get to see her mother for the last time.
In this life, she wanted to live for herself. She wanted to go to college, work hard to make money, and live a good life with her mother.
As dawn approached, Ling Yao came out of the space. She discovered that every time she spent a night in the space, a layer of black impurities would appear on her body, and it smelled terrible.
She went outside to the well and drew a bucket of water. Then, she went to the kitchen and took a kettle of hot water. Ling Yao went back to her room and took a bath.
Ling Xuemei saw Ling Yao using a towel to dry her hair, “Yaoyao, why are you taking a bath so early in the morning?”
Although the weather had warmed up a bit, the morning temperature was still quite low. It was easy to catch a cold if you weren’t careful.
“I was sweating in my sleep.” Ling Yao used the towel to wring out her hair, but it was still damp.
She couldn’t help but miss her hairdryer. She had to go to the city and see if there were any hairdryers for sale.
“It’s easy to catch a cold if you take a bath in the morning. Don’t wash in the morning from now on.”
“Okay, Mom.” Ling Yao obediently replied.
“Yaoyao, did you put something on your face?” Ling Xuemei noticed that Ling Yao’s skin was much whiter and smoother than before. She leaned closer and examined it carefully.
Ling Yao nodded and pointed to a bottle of snow cream on the table, “I put on some snow cream. Mom, I’m going to lose weight.”
Ling Xuemei smiled and nodded, lightly pinching Ling Yao’s nose, “It’s good to lose weight. Mom supports you. I’ll write you a prescription for weight loss later, but you also need to exercise.”
“I know.” Ling Yao giggled and playfully made a face at Ling Xuemei.
“Alright, go eat breakfast.” Ling Xuemei affectionately took Ling Yao’s hand and walked with her towards the kitchen.
Breakfast was simple today, just white porridge and pickled vegetables.
The pickled vegetables were made by Ling Xuemei herself. They weren’t too salty or too bland, perfect for porridge.
Ling Yao poured a bowl of porridge and picked up some pickled vegetables to put in her mouth.
“These pickled vegetables are so delicious.”
Ling Yao’s eyes welled up slightly. In her past life, she had always missed the pickled vegetables her mother made.
No matter how she pickled them herself or bought them from outside, they never tasted like her mother’s.
Now, she could eat her mother’s pickled vegetables every day, and also her mother’s braised pork.
“Yaoyao, what’s wrong? Are you feeling unwell? Let Mom take a look.” Ling Xuemei noticed the tears in Ling Yao’s eyes and worriedly reached out to take her pulse.
“Mom, I’m fine. I just feel like I was so foolish before. I made you worry so much. I’m going to retake the college entrance exam. I want to go to college.”
Ling Xuemei looked at Ling Yao in surprise, her eyes filled with joy and disbelief, “Really?” Before, Yaoyao said she wanted to marry Gu Qingan and follow him to join the army. She had persuaded her for a long time, but Yaoyao was adamant and wouldn’t listen.
“Really. This time, I’m not only going to get into college, but I’m going to get into Beijing University. I’ll take you to Beijing with me.”
“Okay, Mom believes you’ll do it. Mom will always support you.” Ling Xuemei smiled with relief.
Ling Yao smiled brightly, reached out to hug Ling Xuemei, and said with a touch of coquetry, “Mom, you’re the best!”
A complex look flashed in Ling Xuemei’s eyes. She smiled and pinched Ling Yao’s nose, “Alright, stop being so sweet.”
That man was in Beijing. He must have his own family now. He had forgotten about them, mother and daughter. Otherwise, why hadn’t he been in touch for so many years?
After breakfast, Ling Xuemei returned to her room, took out an iron box from the closet, opened it, and took out a yellowed photograph.
The person in the photo was handsome and elegant, with a face like the moon on Mid-Autumn Festival, a complexion like spring flowers, hair like a blade cut, eyebrows like ink paintings, a face like peach petals, and eyes like autumn waves.
Especially those eyes, like boundless stars, shining with a fiery peach blossom glow, like a clear spring, captivating the soul.
She had fallen in love with him because of those eyes, like a moth drawn to a flame, giving herself up without hesitation.
