Chapter 84: Heirloom
Ling Yao and Lu Qingyun locked eyes.
His gentle eyes, like the warm sun in spring, made her heart beat faster involuntarily, and a blush spread across her cheeks, like a ripe apple, shy and charming.
“Yaoyao, get in the car.” Lu Qingyun’s smile was filled with indulgence, as if it could melt everything in the world.
“Okay.” Ling Yao looked away and walked forward, bending down to get into the car.
After Ling Yao sat down, Lu Qingyun helped her close the door and walked to the other side to get in.
“Where are we going?” Ling Yao noticed a beautiful little box on the seat and moved it aside.
“That’s a gift for you. Open it and see if you like it.”
“Ah?” Ling Yao looked at the box in disbelief. She hesitantly reached out and carefully picked it up.
She gently opened the box. A jade bracelet, as green as jade, lay quietly inside. It emitted a warm, lustrous glow.
Even though she knew little about jade, she could tell at a glance that this bracelet was priceless.
“Try it on.” Lu Qingyun said softly, his voice tinged with anticipation.
This bracelet was their Lu family’s heirloom, passed down to their daughter-in-law.
He liked Ling Yao and had chosen her, so naturally, he hoped she would become the owner of this bracelet.
But since Ling Yao hadn’t officially agreed to be his girlfriend yet, he temporarily concealed the special significance of the bracelet.
When Yaoyao agreed to be with him, he would tell her that she was already the wife he had chosen for this life.
“This is too expensive. I can’t accept it.” Ling Yao quickly closed the box and put it back in its place.
Lu Qingyun smiled and turned around, reaching out to take the box.
Ling Yao saw Lu Qingyun approaching her. Her heart beat faster uncontrollably, and the blush that had faded returned to her cheeks.
Why was he getting so close to her?
Lu Qingyun had initially just wanted to take the box. Now, he realized that he and Ling Yao were so close, so close that he could almost feel their breaths and hear each other’s heartbeats.
He smelled the faint floral scent on Ling Yao, making him somewhat intoxicated.
His gaze fell on Ling Yao’s pink lips, and his Adam’s apple bobbed. He wanted to taste them. Would they be as sweet as in his dream last night?
A wave of heat surged through him. Lu Qingyun realized his slip-up.
He quickly took the box and sat back in his seat. He took a few deep breaths, trying to calm down.
Ling Yao closed her eyes and took a long breath. She had thought Lu Qingyun was going to kiss her, but she didn’t resist his kiss. In fact, she had a slight expectation.
Realizing her thoughts, Ling Yao’s face flushed slightly.
Lu Qingyun finally managed to suppress the heat in his body.
He rolled down the car window, and a gentle breeze blew into the car, lowering the temperature slightly.
He opened the box, took out the bracelet, and handed it to Ling Yao, “Yaoyao, this bracelet is specially prepared for you.
If you don’t want it, I don’t know who else to give it to.
Just keep it. This is the first time I’ve prepared a gift for a girl.”
Lu Qingyun looked at Ling Yao with sincerity.
Ling Yao hesitated for a moment, “Alright.” Since she had already decided to give Lu Qingyun a try, accepting his gift wasn’t a problem.
If they didn’t work out in the future, she could return the bracelet to him.
Lu Qingyun’s lips curled into a happy smile. He gently stretched out his hand, his eyes filled with tenderness and anticipation.
Ling Yao’s hand was carefully lifted by Lu Qingyun, as if he were holding a rare treasure.
His movements were gentle and delicate, as if afraid to disturb the beauty of this moment.
Lu Qingyun carefully placed the bracelet on Ling Yao’s fair wrist, as if performing a sacred ritual.
His gaze was focused and gentle, every movement filled with care.
When the bracelet fit perfectly on Ling Yao’s wrist, a sense of satisfaction filled Lu Qingyun’s heart.
Ling Yao looked at her wrist. The bracelet shone with a watery luster, complementing her fair wrist, like a moving painting.
Lu Qingyun gently let go of Ling Yao’s hand and sat back down, “Jianfei recommended a private restaurant. Let’s go there for dinner.”
“Okay.” Ling Yao nodded.
Lu Qingyun, in a good mood, drove the car and took Ling Yao to a private restaurant.
The restaurant was in a secluded location, with a quiet environment. Surrounded by green trees, it felt like an oasis.
“This private restaurant specializes in fish dishes. They say the fish here are personally caught from the lake behind the restaurant, fresh and impeccable.”
Lu Qingyun had specifically asked Jiang Jianfei to take him there for lunch. After trying the food, he thought the restaurant was indeed good.
Ling Yao followed Lu Qingyun into the restaurant. She was immediately captivated by the restaurant’s ancient and elegant atmosphere.
“Welcome, please come in.” The waiter greeted them enthusiastically.
“Give us a table with a view of the lake.” Lu Qingyun said.
“Okay.” The waiter quickly led the way.
The private restaurant had only opened recently. The customers who came here to eat fish were all regulars, so there were still many empty tables.
The waiter led Ling Yao and Lu Qingyun to a table by the window on the second floor. From here, they could enjoy the view of the lake behind the restaurant.
Looking out from the open window, they saw crystal-clear water, shimmering in the sunlight. A few fish swam freely in the water.
A gentle breeze blew, rippling the water. The willows by the lake swayed gently, as if telling people about the tranquility of time.
“We have many different ways of cooking our fish, steamed, braised, with chili peppers, in clear broth, pan-fried, grilled…” The waiter enthusiastically introduced the options.
Lu Qingyun looked at Ling Yao tenderly, the indulgence in his eyes impossible to hide, “Which one do you want to eat?”
Ling Yao blushed and looked away, focusing on the menu in her hand, “Let’s try the three-way fish.”
After waiting for a while, the dishes were served. A domineering aroma filled the air, making one’s mouth water.
Lu Qingyun picked up his chopsticks and took a piece of fish. He carefully removed the bones and then placed the fish in Ling Yao’s bowl, “Try this. Is it delicious?”
Ling Yao nodded, picked up the fish, and put it in her mouth. The delicious fish melted in her mouth. The unique seasoning left a lingering taste, “It’s quite good.”
“If you like it, I’ll bring you here again next time.” Lu Qingyun smiled and picked out another tender piece of fish, removed the bones, and placed it in Ling Yao’s bowl.
“You eat too. Don’t just focus on me.” Ling Yao also picked up a piece of fish and put it in Lu Qingyun’s bowl. She smiled brightly at him.
Lu Qingyun looked at the fish in his bowl, a slight smile on his lips, “Okay.”
The two of them enjoyed the delicious food and admired the lake view, feeling exceptionally happy.
