Chapter 92: Package
Time flew by like a white horse crossing a gap. In the blink of an eye, half a month had quietly passed.
Lu Qingyun walked into his office with long strides, his steps firm and powerful.
He had been on field exercises for the past few days and had just returned to the army.
He glanced at the time, sat down at his desk, and reached out to pick up the phone. He hadn’t spoken to Yaoyao on the phone in a long time.
He missed her, and he wanted to hear her voice.
He was about to dial Ling Yao’s home number when a knock on the door sounded.
“Come in!” Lu Qingyun’s voice carried a hint of authority.
The door was gently pushed open, and a soldier walked in.
He saluted Lu Qingyun respectfully, “Report, Captain! There’s a package for you.”
The soldier respectfully handed Lu Qingyun the package he was holding.
The package had been delivered for a few days, but the Captain had been away from the army, so it had been kept at the guardhouse.
He had just received news that the Captain had returned, so he brought the package over.
Lu Qingyun took the package and his gaze fell on the return address written on it. A smile flickered in his eyes.
The smile was like the warm sun in spring, instantly melting the stern lines on his face, making him appear softer.
This package was from Yaoyao. This was the first time Yaoyao had sent him a package.
He slowly opened the package, as if it were the most precious thing in the world.
As the package opened, he saw a bag of dried meat strips inside, along with some bottles and jars.
Each bottle was labeled with the name of the medicine and its effects.
There was also a handwritten letter. He opened the envelope and took out the letter.
It was written in Ling Yao’s elegant and flowing script, describing some of the interesting things that had happened to her these past few days.
Lu Qingyun smiled faintly. He carefully folded the letter and put it in his pocket, as if it were a priceless treasure.
He looked up and saw that the soldier hadn’t left yet, “Is there anything else?”
“Report, Captain! No!” The soldier was simply startled. He hadn’t expected Lu Qingyun to smile.
In their eyes, the Captain was a stern and unsmiling man. Otherwise, people wouldn’t call him “The Cold-Faced Yama” behind his back.
There had been rumors in the army recently, saying that the Captain had a girlfriend. Were these things sent to him by his girlfriend? It must be.
Otherwise, why would the Captain be smiling so happily? He had to share this good news with everyone.
Soon, news spread throughout the army that Lu Qingyun had received a package from his girlfriend.
Zhou Yu had been tormented by illness for the past few days. Her body was getting thinner and thinner. She had become skin and bones.
Now, she would wake up every day in excruciating pain, as if she were in an endless abyss of suffering.
She had gone to the hospital for checkups, but they couldn’t find anything wrong.
“Did you hear? Captain Lu has a girlfriend.”
“Yes, I heard. They say Captain Lu received a package from his girlfriend and was so happy.”
“And soon, Captain Lu will bring his girlfriend to the army.”
“They say the future Captain’s wife is a beautiful woman. Captain Lu fell in love with her at first sight.”
The army wives gathered together, chattering excitedly.
Zhou Yu stopped walking and walked over, “Who did you say has a girlfriend?” Lu Qingyun hadn’t gotten married in his previous life.
And in another year, Lu Qingyun would die on a mission.
Only she could save him because she was reborn.
“It’s Captain Lu.”
“Lu Qingyun?” Zhou Yu asked again, unsure.
“Yeah, besides Captain Lu, there’s no other Captain Lu in our army who has the surname Lu.”
Zhou Yu narrowed her eyes, a hint of determination in her gaze.
She slowly turned around and walked towards the army. Every step seemed to carry her inner expectations and determination.
Now, she had only one goal: to find Lu Qingyun.
She would tell Lu Qingyun that only she could change his fate, that only she was the destined heroine in his life.
She would prove her worth and significance to him, telling him that their connection was unbreakable.
As for Gu Qingan, Zhou Yu felt a hint of disdain. In this life, without the help of the Ji family, Gu Qingan could only go so far.
He wouldn’t achieve any greater success. Once she got together with Lu Qingyun, she would kick Gu Qingan to the curb.
Lu Qingyun placed the medicine Ling Yao had sent in a drawer, as if it were his most precious treasure.
Then, he opened the bag of dried meat and took a piece, putting it in his mouth.
A fragrant and spicy flavor instantly filled his mouth, making him instantly intoxicated. He couldn’t help but smile.
“Captain!” An urgent voice came from outside the door.
Lu Qingyun quickly swallowed the dried meat in his mouth and said in a serious voice, “Come in!”
A soldier pushed open the door and saluted Lu Qingyun, “Report, Captain! Captain Ji is in trouble. He is currently being treated at the military hospital.”
Lu Qingyun’s face changed. He quickly put on his military uniform, which was hanging on the back of his chair, and walked towards the door.
He took two steps, then turned back, opened the drawer, took out a bottle of medicine, and put it in his pocket.
Yaoyao wrote in her letter that this medicine could save lives in critical situations. He naturally believed her.
When he arrived at the military hospital, Ji Yuanming was still in surgery.
The two Ji brothers and Old Master Ji had all rushed over when they received the news.
“What did the doctor say?” Lu Qingyun asked the two Ji brothers.
Ji Yuanzhou and Ji Yuanbo’s faces were not good.
“The doctor said he is in danger. The chances of saving him are very slim.” Ji Yuanbo’s voice was choked with emotion.
After being adopted by the Ji family, they were mostly taken care of by their eldest brother.
In their hearts, their eldest brother was like their father, their pillar of support.
“Yuanming is a strong person. He’ll pull through. Don’t worry.”
Lu Qingyun patted Ji Yuanbo on the shoulder, his eyes also turning red.
At that moment, the door to the operating room slowly opened from the inside.
A doctor in a surgical gown walked out with a grave expression.
The Ji brothers, Lu Qingyun, and Old Master Ji quickly walked to the doctor. Their eyes were filled with urgency and worry.
“Doctor, how is my brother? Is he okay?”
“How is Yuanming? Doctor, you have to save him!”
All four of them stared intently at the doctor, eagerly wanting to hear good news from him.
The doctor slowly shook his head and sighed,
“Captain Ji’s condition is very serious. Go in and say goodbye to him.”
Upon hearing this, Old Master Ji was struck by lightning.
He staggered back a few steps, almost falling.
Fortunately, a guard nearby was quick-witted and quickly caught him.
