Chapter 127 : Uncle is Uncle
Fang Xiaoluo looked at the person in front of her and asked, “If I don’t forgive you, you won’t get up?”
Yan Mingyi straightened up and said, “No, no, I won’t force you. If you don’t forgive me this time, I’ll apologize several more times.”
This response was beyond Fang Xiaoluo’s expectations.
She was too lazy to argue with Yan Mingyi. They didn’t even know each other. “That’s not necessary. Just take good care of your sister and the child.”
After saying that, she and Shen Zheng left the infirmary.
Yan Mingyi stood there, asking Dou Qin for a long time, “Mom, has Comrade Fang forgiven me or not?”
Dou Qin didn’t pay attention to him. She was staring at Fang Xiaoluo’s back, sighing repeatedly, “This comrade is such a good person.”
Yan Mingyi frowned and noticed Yu Xinzheng, who hadn’t left yet.
“Deputy Captain Yu, can I ask you something?”
Yu Xinzheng was not happy with Yan Mingyi, but since he was Zhu Baojun’s brother-in-law, he endured it and replied, “What’s the matter?”
“Deputy Captain Yu, is Fang Xiaoluo… the type who would bully others by taking advantage of her power?”
Although he always knew that Fang Xiaoluo was the daughter of the Fang family who had returned from the city, he had never met her before. Moreover, Wang Hongfang had always rejected him, so he hadn’t been to Honghe Village for a while and didn’t know what kind of person she was.
He had only listened to Wang Hongfang’s one-sided story, but now it seemed like something was off.
Yu Xinzheng glared at him, “I think you are the one who uses your power to bully others!”
Yan Mingyi shrank his neck and said nothing.
Yu Xinzheng continued, “You have eyes to see for yourself and ears to hear for yourself! You’re twenty years old, but it’s like you don’t have a brain!”
The news that Fang Xiaoluo had saved Yan Mengxiang and the child soon spread throughout the compound.
Whenever Fang Xiaoluo walked through the compound, people whether they knew her or not would greet her.
Elderly people in the compound would even bring her delicious food.
Shen Zheng sighed, “You’re so popular. I’ve been in the army for so many years, but I’m not as popular as you.”
Fang Xiaoluo teased, “Are you jealous of my popularity?”
Shen Zheng responded, “I’m not jealous, it’s others who are jealous of me. They’re jealous that I have such a good wife.”
After Yan Mengxiang’s partner, Zhu Baojun, returned, he specially bought a lot of things to thank Fang Xiaoluo.
He treated Fang Xiaoluo as his savior.
Not only that, but on Thursday morning, after everyone had finished their meals, Shen Haifeng hadn’t gone to school, and Shen Zheng hadn’t gone to work.
While Fang Xiaoluo was tending to her vegetables in the yard, Yu Xinzheng arrived with Yu Feixu and Yu Xiaopang.
Shen Zheng rolled up his sleeves and came out with a basin. Seeing Yu Xinzheng, he asked directly, “Why is Deputy Commander Yu here so early in the morning?”
Yu Xinzheng replied, “I didn’t come here to look for you.”
He walked up to Fang Xiaoluo happily.
Fang Xiaoluo stood up and asked, “Are you here to see me?”
Yu Xinzheng nodded, then stood at attention and saluted. “Thank you, Comrade Fang Xiaoluo, for saving the lover of the commander of the first battalion of my regiment. On behalf of the second regiment, I’m here to express my gratitude!”
Yu Xinzheng suddenly became so serious that Fang Xiaoluo found it hard to accept.
“Deputy Regiment Commander Yu, Battalion Commander Zhu came to thank us yesterday.”
Yu Xinzheng said, “That’s different. He is him, and I am me.”
“To be honest, I didn’t compete with Shen Zheng for the position of the head of the Third Regiment. I think I’m older than Shen Zheng and have more experience than him, but I still didn’t win the competition. I’m really not convinced. I also know that this matter has nothing to do with Shen Zheng. I’m just narrow-minded.”
Shen Zheng came over and asked, “You still know that it’s you who is narrow-minded?”
Yu Xinzheng rolled his eyes at Shen Zheng and then turned back to Fang Xiaoluo, saying, “Everyone knows that my family and the Shen family don’t have much contact, but after you came, you didn’t care about all that and treated my two sons so well. Now you’ve saved people from our Second Regiment, and I’m truly grateful to you.”
“Can I… can I call you my sister? I’ll definitely treat you like my own sister!”
Seeing that Fang Xiaoluo was speechless, Yu Xinzheng scratched his head and said, “It’s okay. This is just my idea. It doesn’t matter if you don’t agree.”
Fang Xiaoluo smiled and said, “Alright, Brother Yu.”
Yu Xinzheng was so happy that he immediately brought Yu Feixu and Yu Xiaopang over, saying, “Call me Auntie!”
The two children said in unison, “Hello, Auntie!”
Yu Xinzheng looked at Shen Zheng, “From now on, let’s refer to things from my sister’s side. Come on, call me brother. I’ll now be promoted to brother.”
Shen Zheng glared at him. “You’re happy to take advantage.”
Yu Xinzheng looked at Shen Zheng with a mischievous, almost challenging expression.
Shen Zheng rolled down his sleeves, straightened his clothes, put on his hat, cleared his throat, and said, “Yu Xinzheng, Deputy Commander of the 2nd Regiment of the 105th Division!”
Yu Xinzheng: “Here!”
“Turn around and march in step!” Shen Zheng gave the order.
Yu Xinzheng gritted his teeth. This is what it meant when a higher-ranking official could crush someone to death!
Yu Feixu and Yu Xiaopang stared at their father in surprise as he followed Shen Zheng’s command.
Yu Xiaopang turned to Shen Zheng with great admiration, “Wow, Uncle, you’re amazing! My dad actually listens to you.”
“Uncle?” Shen Zheng raised his eyebrows.
“Okay, then you can call me uncle,” he thought with a smile.
The next day was Shen Haifeng’s final exam. Fang Xiaoluo got up early to make breakfast and had bought some sausages in advance.
She prepared a plate with a sausage and two round fried eggs.
When Shen Haifeng sat down, he stared at it for a while and asked, “Mom, what is this?”
“You have an exam today. This is a good omen. You’ll definitely get 100 points.” Fang Xiaoluo handed him the chopsticks. “Eat.”
Shen Haifeng smiled, feeling in good spirits. The breakfast was perfect, and he felt it was indeed a good sign.
“Thank you, Mom.”
After finishing breakfast, Shen Haifeng patted his belly and said, “Mom, I ate 100 points. I’ll definitely do well in the exam today.”
Fang Xiaoluo held his hand and said, “Relax during the exam. Don’t stress. It’s just a final exam. It doesn’t matter how many points you get. You’re still my good child.”
Shen Haifeng smiled and nodded seriously, “Yeah.”
Ever since everyone in the family found out that Shen Haifeng ranked last in the midterm exam, they were even more nervous than he was about this final exam.
Fang Xiaoluo wasn’t worried. She had been tutoring him for a month and a half, and while it was impossible for him to get a perfect score given his weak foundation, she believed he could score over 80.
Zheng Lanhua was absent-minded while doing her work.
Fang Xiaoluo smiled and said, “Mom, do you have to be so nervous?”
It was rare for Zheng Lanhua to agree with her. She sighed and said, “I dare not say anything recently, for fear of putting pressure on Haifeng.”
Fang Xiaoluo said, “Mom, that’s not necessary. Although we can all see his efforts and he really wants to do well, this is just the final exam for the second semester of the first grade. There will be many more exams in the future. We need to train him to be strong-willed. A man must be able to handle pressure.”
Zheng Lanhua nodded, “That’s true.”
Fang Xiaoluo sighed, “Oh, Mom, how rare it is for you to agree with me.”
Zheng Lanhua turned her face away, saying, “I’m always so easy to talk to.”
