Chapter 168 : Fleeing with the Money
Fang Xiaoluo was in shock for only a brief moment. Zhou Yanwen waited for the dishes to be served on the table before letting go of the woman in his arms. He suddenly looked up and met Fang Xiaoluo’s eyes.
At that moment, Zhou Yanwen felt like he had been struck by lightning.
He quickly stood up, left the woman beside him, and chased after her, but by the time he reached the door, he only saw Fang Xiaoluo’s back.
The woman behind him also ran after him. “Yanwen, where are you going?”
Zhou Yanwen frowned, “Go back and wait for me first. I saw an acquaintance and need to say hello.”
Wu Xiaoling looked ahead but couldn’t see anything. She listened to Zhou Yanwen and went back to her single room.
The single room had been reserved for her by Zhou Yanwen many days ago, and today was her birthday.
As soon as Fang Xiaoluo opened the door, Zhou Yanwen caught up to her.
“Xiaoluo.”
Tang Jingxian looked over and asked, “Should I… step aside?”
Zhou Yanwen wished there was no one else around.
Fang Xiaoluo replied, “Sister Tang, there’s no need. I’m not familiar with him.”
Zhou Yanwen looked at Fang Xiaoluo, his heart pounding in his chest.
This was supposed to be his wife, but now the position was occupied by that crazy woman, Xu Yaqiu.
“Xiao Luo, what happened just now isn’t what you think. There’s nothing between her and me, really.” Zhou Yanwen explained urgently.
Fang Xiaoluo looked at him as if he were a stranger. “I didn’t see anything. You don’t have to chase after me. I don’t care about your life. Who you choose to be with has nothing to do with me. I don’t have time to go to your house and complain about you. You’re not worth it.”
After she finished speaking, she locked Zhou Yanwen outside the door.
Zhou Yanwen stared at the door that slammed shut, his heart aching with pain.
Half a year ago, Fang Xiaoluo didn’t treat him like this.
As for him and Wu Xiaoling, it was because Xu Yaqiu had been causing trouble every day, constantly suspecting him of seeing other women. She always doubted him, so he thought, why not just go ahead and find someone else?
Wu Xiaoling was much more gentle and considerate than Xu Yaqiu.
After dinner, Fang Xiaoluo and Tang Jingxian returned to the military compound.
She would wait two more days before replying to the landlord about the store and see if there was any room for negotiation on the price.
When she got home, only Zheng Lanhua was there.
Zheng Lanhua said, “Fang Qiang called and said he wanted to talk to you about something.”
“Did he say anything?” Fang Xiaoluo guessed it might be about Ma Yongfeng from the Peace Hotel.
Zheng Lanhua replied, “He didn’t say anything. I told him to call you back when you’re home.”
Fang Xiaoluo returned the call, and it was Zhang Xinyan who answered.
“Your eldest brother went to work in the greenhouse,” Zhang Xinyan said. “He asked me to tell you that the owner of the Peace Hotel came to him and asked about our dishes. Your eldest brother didn’t mention you. He said he works for the boss and doesn’t know anything else.”
Fang Xiaoluo responded, “Okay, Mom, I understand. It’s good that my brother is back safely.”
Zhang Xinyan seemed a little worried, “Do you think this Boss Ma will cause you trouble?”
Fang Xiaoluo reassured her, “Not really. It’s just that now that Dongfeng Restaurant is making money, They want to find out where they source their dishes. They also want to make the same kind of money as Dongfeng Restaurant.”
Zhang Xinyan said, “Just keep it in mind.”
Two days later, the freshman review for various colleges and universities was successfully completed.
All the students left the military camp one by one.
Shen Zheng and his team, after being busy for a month, finally had two days to relax.
Fang Xiaoluo was going to Jiangcheng to negotiate the rent with the landlord. Shen Zheng happened to be on vacation, so they went together.
The shop opposite People’s Park had not been rented out yet, so Fang Xiaoluo and Shen Zheng went to negotiate, and the landlord, Cao Zhen, offered a slightly lower price.
Fang Xiaoluo rented it for three years immediately.
After signing the contract, Fang Xiaoluo directly paid Cao Zhen one year’s rent.
Cao Zhen said as she wrote the receipt, “It’s a pleasure to meet tenants like you, and I feel at ease.”
Everything went smoothly, and Fang Xiaoluo was very happy.
The landlord, Cao Zhen, was not very talkative and was easy to get along with.
After Fang Xiaoluo received the key, she and Shen Zheng started discussing what to do with the 80-square-meter shop.
“If we want to open this shop, we need to stay busy for a while. We’ll need to decorate it, customize some furniture, stoves, pots and pans, and also apply for a business license.”
Shen Zheng looked at the light in Fang Xiaoluo’s eyes and knew she was very motivated.
“I’ll try to find time to help you.”
Fang Xiaoluo wrapped her arm around his waist and said, “No, no, your first priority is your job. That’s your responsibility. I won’t make myself too tired. I’m a very hypocritical person.”
Shen Zheng hugged her and said, “I married a rich woman and brought her home. The good life of our family is all thanks to you.”
Fang Xiaoluo said, “That’s also because you gave me so many gifts, and I spent them all on the greenhouse.”
Shen Zheng took her hand and said, “Looking at it this way, the money I gave you is still too little. That means I’m not working hard enough.”
Fang Xiaoluo thought for a moment. “Although I’ve borrowed a lot of money from the bank, I still can’t spend it recklessly. If I want to buy a small truck, I don’t have enough money. Cars are so expensive. I asked around, and the cheapest one costs around 70,000 or 80,000 yuan.”
“You must buy a car, otherwise it will be very inconvenient to travel back and forth.”
“In the future, when we need to deliver goods, we’ll need the car more.”
“Then calculate how much you still need, and I can help you borrow it,” Shen Zheng said.
Fang Xiaoluo laughed. “You really spoil me, all of you spoil me. My mom and her family didn’t say a word, they just gave me the land to mortgage to the bank, and your mom even gave me the title deed of your hometown to exchange for money. Now you want to lend me money? Aren’t you afraid I’ll run away with it?”
Shen Zheng said, “Whenever you want to run off with the money, remember to call me.”
Fang Xiaoluo hit Shen Zheng on the chest. “By then, they’d all go crazy. Do you think your mom will chase you with a kitchen knife?”
“But anyway, you can wait to buy the car. You don’t have to buy it now,” Fang Xiaoluo said. “Besides, when you buy it, you’ll definitely buy more than one.”
Shen Zheng said, “It’s up to you to decide what you want to do. But if the money is really not enough, I can go and borrow more.”
“Okay, no problem. I’ll sell you everything for money then.”
It was a rare opportunity for them to have free time, so Fang Xiaoluo and Shen Zheng had lunch outside at noon and went to the movies in the afternoon.
The two of them had a great time together, and time passed very quickly.
They took a bus from Jiangcheng to Qingshi Town. By the time they arrived, they could pick up Shen Haifeng and Shen Haiping from school.
Before they even reached the school gate, they heard a commotion.
There was quite a crowd gathered at the door.
Fang Xiaoluo and Shen Zheng walked closer and saw a middle-aged man causing a scene. The teacher standing opposite him turned out to be the head teacher of Shen Haiping’s class.
