Chapter 171 : Love Brain is Innate
Yu Xiaopang held the box and said, “Let’s go play first. I’ll help you take it back later. It’s too heavy for you to hold. What if you get tired?”
Yu Xinzheng watched as Yu Xiaopang eagerly grabbed a toy for Shen Jinxia.
Han Weiping walked over and said, “Hurry up and hang your pants to dry. What are you standing there for?”
Yu Xinzheng waved the pants in his hand and said, “You know, we should start saving more money.”
Han Weiping asked, “Why do you say that?”
Yu Xinzheng shook his head thoughtfully, still holding the pants. “Times have changed. Raising a son won’t guarantee care in old age anymore, but raising a daughter will. At least we won’t go hungry when we’re old.”
Han Weiping was silent for a moment before replying, “Alright, you actually make sense this time.”
Meanwhile, Shen Jinxia was tinkering with Yu Xiaopang’s wooden pistol. Then she asked, “Xiaopang, are you hurt?”
Yu Xiaopang felt a warmth in his heart and said, “No.”
Shen Jinxia peeled a candy and handed it to him. “I saw you and Zhang Haoran rolling on the ground earlier. There were so many small stones. Here, have some candy, it’s sweet. It’ll cheer you up.”
Yu Xiaopang grinned so widely that his mouth almost reached his ears. He opened his mouth to eat the candy and said, “Mmm, it’s so sweet. Xiaxia, the candy you give me is the sweetest!”
Shen Jinxia smiled, resting her face on her hands. “That’s what my mom says too.”
—
In the yard, Fang Xiaoluo was busy directing Shen Zheng and the others.
As the weather was getting colder, she decided to pickle the remaining cucumbers.
Shen Haifeng and Shen Haiping were washing cucumbers, while Shen Zheng was slicing them. Fang Xiaoluo sprinkled salt over the sliced cucumbers.
When she looked up, she saw Yu Xiaopang carrying the box and walking back with Shen Jinxia.
“Why did you bring the food back?” Fang Xiaoluo asked. “Feiyue, don’t you like eating it?”
Yu Xiaopang ran in cheerfully. “Aunt, I don’t dislike it. If I eat it all, Xiaxia will have nothing to eat.”
Fang Xiaoluo nodded. What Yu Xiaopang said made a lot of sense.
From this, it was clear that a “love brain” might indeed be innate.
—
The next morning, Fang Xiaoluo called Wei Yan to ask if he could take on a carpentry job.
Wei Yan immediately agreed, understanding it was an opportunity not to be missed.
They arranged to meet at the store Fang Xiaoluo had recently rented to discuss renovations.
Fang Xiaoluo and Shen Zheng got off the bus, and Wei Yan rushed over to meet them at the station.
“Xiaoluo, next time call me earlier. I can pick you up directly from your compound. It’s much more convenient than taking the bus,” Wei Yan said with enthusiasm.
“Oh, you’re a busy man. I wouldn’t want to disrupt your work. Besides, the bus is convenient, and we’re not in a rush,” Fang Xiaoluo replied.
The three of them got into Wei Yan’s car and headed toward People’s Park.
“I’ve already thought about what you told me,” Wei Yan said. “I happen to know a skilled bricklayer who can ensure the job is done perfectly.”
Fang Xiaoluo smiled. “That’s fantastic. I don’t need to look for someone on my own now.”
It was a short drive from the bus station to the newly rented shop.
When they arrived, Fang Xiaoluo unlocked the door and said, “This is it.”
Wei Yan looked around and nodded in approval. “This location is perfect for a noodle shop.”
“I want to build a counter right here,” Fang Xiaoluo pointed out. “And I’d like to install a modern-style cabinet here. I’ll draw up a blueprint for you later, and you can see if it’s doable.”
“I want to have a taller, long table near the window, with high-legged chairs so people can sit comfortably while waiting for a seat,” said Fang Xiaoluo.
“I’d also like to add some decorative touches in these areas, so I’ll need a few shelves built,” she added.
“And over here…”
Fang Xiaoluo outlined her ideas and requirements step by step.
Shen Zheng followed behind her silently, his eyes never leaving her. His admiration for his wife grew with every word. ‘She’s amazing,’ he thought.
After listening carefully, Wei Yan gave a thumbs-up. “This setup you’re describing will look fantastic. Honestly, it feels like it’s too beautiful to just be a noodle shop.”
Fang Xiaoluo smiled. “We have to take it step by step.”
Wei Yan nodded. “Don’t worry, Xiaoluo, everything will turn out great. Just draw up the blueprints for the cabinets and shelves, and I’ll handle the rest, including the stove and other details. If you trust me, you don’t even need to buy the materials, I’ll take care of it all.”
“I trust you completely,” Fang Xiaoluo said warmly. “Your factory sources supplies regularly, and you know where to find the best materials. I trust you 100%.”
Wei Yan looked touched. “I don’t know how to thank you for your kindness. First, you and Captain Shen saved my son. Then you introduced me to business. Now, when there’s a money-making opportunity, you think of me. I must have done something good in a past life to meet people like you.”
“You’re not leaving at noon today,” Wei Yan declared. “I’m treating you to lunch, and you have to join me.”
Fang Xiaoluo turned to Shen Zheng. “Do we need to hurry back?”
Shen Zheng shook his head. “No rush today.”
With a smile, Fang Xiaoluo agreed. “Alright, let’s have lunch together.”
Wei Yan beamed. “Let’s go to Dongfeng Hotel. I’ve always wanted to try their premium dishes they only serve three tables a day but it’s so hard to get a reservation. When you called this morning, I immediately booked a table and reserved two special dishes for lunch. Let’s give them a try.”
—
When they arrived at Dongfeng Hotel, a waiter led them to their reserved seats.
The waiter greeted them enthusiastically upon seeing Fang Xiaoluo. “Boss Fang, welcome! The owner isn’t here today.”
“That’s fine,” Fang Xiaoluo replied with a smile. “I’m just here to have lunch with my friends.”
The food was served promptly, and the restaurant even offered two extra dishes on the house.
“These are complimentary for Mr. Fang. Enjoy your meal,” said the waiter before leaving.
Wei Yan looked surprised. “Xiaoluo, do you know the owner of Dongfeng Hotel?”
With a modest smile, Fang Xiaoluo replied, “Next time you want to reserve the premium dishes at table 128, just let me know. I can guarantee you’ll get them, I sold those dishes to Dongfeng Hotel.”
Wei Yan was stunned. He looked from Fang Xiaoluo to Shen Zheng, who seemed entirely focused on his wife.
“Wait, then why would I bother booking a table?” Wei Yan joked. “I could just go to your house to eat! Right, Captain Shen?”
As Shen Zheng placed more food onto Fang Xiaoluo’s plate, he replied, “Of course.”
Fang Xiaoluo added with a laugh, “Whenever you want to come, just let me know in advance. Bring your wife and kids too. We have three kids at home, they can all play together.”
“Alright, I won’t be shy about it then,” Wei Yan said cheerfully.
The three chatted while eating.
Fang Xiaoluo turned to Wei Yan. “Have you ever considered expanding your factory’s business?”
Wei Yan asked, “What area are you thinking about?” His current business was doing well, and he hadn’t thought about branching out.
“I mean interior decoration,” Fang Xiaoluo explained. “Whether it’s homes or stores, both need renovations.”
“You already have a team of skilled carpenters in your factory, and you know reliable bricklayers and electricians. Why not offer decoration services? Think about it, many factories are building new facilities, and there are going to be more and more buildings in the future. Plus, with so many people starting businesses, there’s bound to be high demand for shop renovations. It’s definitely a lucrative opportunity.”
