Chapter 46: Li Cuihua’s Visit
But Su Ai didn’t retort because it wasn’t necessary.
In the eyes of a businesswoman, people are ranked; Su Ai had long understood this.
Having lived for decades, she had her own way of doing things.
While clearly stating her position, she didn’t want to offend people unnecessarily. Speaking carelessly might feel good in the moment, but it’s unnecessary.
It’s about achieving the best results with the least effort.
That’s it.
The people outside were grumbling; many said Su Ai had become rich and looked down on others.
Some said she was ungrateful.
Of course, some people silently left; regardless of Su Ai’s attitude, they didn’t want to offend her.
Soon, everyone dispersed.
Su Ai pushed the wheelchair inside, and Ji Yang suddenly grabbed her hand.
“My leg will get better.”
“I know.”
Su Ai didn’t understand why Ji Yang suddenly said that.
She suddenly remembered someone suggesting that Su Ai divorce Ji Yang and marry their son, and she smiled.
Her husband was a little tsundere.
A secretly softhearted guy.
Seeing Ji Lele run into the room to find his toys, Su Ai decided to tease her husband.
“Sigh…”
Ji Yang’s heart skipped a beat.
“What’s wrong?”
Su Ai pretended to be sad: “Nothing.”
“I just remembered that even if your leg gets better, it won’t matter to me anymore.”
“After all, I promised you that I’d divorce you when your leg got better.”
Ji Yang was struck like lightning.
He had forgotten; he had actually forgotten what he said.
He became anxious. No, he had been delirious and rambling at the time; he didn’t want to divorce Su Ai now.
“No…”
Su Ai suppressed her laughter and patted Ji Yang’s shoulder.
“You don’t need to explain; I understand everything.”
“I was a fool before; I did wrong things; it’s understandable that you can’t stand me anymore.”
“Now that your leg is better, I can rest assured.”
“Don’t worry; I won’t take any of the money; it’s all for you and Lele. As long as you’re doing well, that’s better than anything.”
Ji Yang wanted to explain, but Su Ai had explained everything so logically.
Everything was arranged perfectly.
Ji Yang’s heart sank.
His voice trembled slightly as he asked, “What about you?”
“Me?”
Su Ai gave a wry smile.
“I’ll go to a big city, alone, and try my best to build a future for Lele.”
Su Ai originally wanted to push her husband; he couldn’t always be so tsundere. Saying “I love you” shouldn’t be so difficult, right?
As soon as she finished speaking, there was a knock at the door.
Su Ai went to open the door: “Wait, I’ll open the door first.”
She missed Ji Yang’s somewhat dejected expression.
He had discovered Su Ai’s talent for business.
Su Ai had just said she wanted to try her luck in a big city.
Ji Yang lowered his head and sighed.
Perhaps she wanted freedom?
Should he keep her confined to his side?
This flamboyant and confident Su Ai was the real Su Ai.
Ji Yang’s knuckles, gripping the wheelchair, turned white. Finally, he leaned back slightly in his wheelchair, watching Su Ai, and smiled.
Suddenly, the door opened, and the people standing in front of Su Ai were revealed to Ji Yang.
Seeing these people, Ji Yang immediately wheeled himself over. Su Ai’s face was cold.
“You really are something, taking so long to open the door.”
“Oh, Ji Yang, is your leg better?”
“I haven’t been out these days; I didn’t know you went to the hospital and came back.”
“Su Ai, it’s not that I’m saying this, but your husband’s leg injury is a big deal; you didn’t even tell us. We’re from the same village, so close.”
“It’s so inconvenient for your husband alone; if you had told us, I would have come to help.”
“There’s so much housework to do inside and outside the house.”
“Ji Yang, don’t worry, Mom’s here, and I brought your brother too. If Su Ai can’t take care of you, Su Peng will. Don’t worry.”
“These are eggs I brought for you; I’ll make scrambled eggs for you at noon.”
“Nourish yourself well; at your age, you can’t afford to have a disability.”
“Yes, brother-in-law, I’ll take care of you. Don’t worry.”
Su Ai looked at the two familiar people in front of her: her brother, Su Peng, and her mother, Li Cuihua.
Su Ai looked at them, her eyes filled with intense disgust.
In her past life, although her parents favored sons over daughters, and although they sold her to Ji Yang for a thousand yuan,
they never helped her. But after Ji Yang and Lele died, Su Ai, remembering that they were her only remaining relatives, sent them money after she became successful.
Of course, Su Ai was also very vengeful, remembering how they treated her as a child.
Su Ai didn’t give them a lot of money each month; only about two thousand yuan, and that was after 2000.
It wasn’t much, but it certainly wasn’t little either.
It was definitely enough for an elderly rural couple to live on; Su Ai gave them enough for their old age.
But what happened?
These people came to visit, showing concern, and then stole her confidential documents.
Almost causing her company to collapse.
That was the deepest wound Su Ai had ever suffered.
Ten years of hard work almost came to nothing. Her parents didn’t understand; it was the result of countless nights of drinking until she vomited blood; it was the result of her hard work and effort in building her business empire.
She later spent a great deal of effort to save it.
At that time, all the confidential information of Su Ai’s company was sold to her competitors, her funds were cut off, and her new products were released by her competitors earlier, almost destroying her business.
She had no choice but to give up her shares and let foreign investors take control, causing her career to plummet. It took her many years to regain control of her business from those foreigners.
Su Ai wanted to kill them; she cut off all financial support and even used the crime of stealing trade secrets to send Li Cuihua and Su Daguo, Su Ai’s parents, to prison.
There was no possibility of reconciliation.
Later, Su Peng went out to cause trouble, was beaten up, became a beggar, and froze to death one winter.
Su Ai didn’t even collect his body.
They didn’t deserve it.
This family was only motivated by profit. Now they came with a basket of eggs, but they actually wanted tens of thousands of chickens from Su Ai.
Su Ai’s voice was cold; her disgust and aversion were undisguised: “Get out!”
The smile on Li Cuihua’s face froze.
Her daughter was like a gangster collecting debts!
Who would tell their mother to get out?
