Chapter 50: Flaunting Wealth

Xiaoxiu immediately blushed and withdrew her hand, looking embarrassed.

“Outside.”

“Don’t be silly.”

Su Peng chuckled.

“I’ll go buy tickets; wait for me here.”

Xiaoxiu stood at the entrance of the cinema, watching Su Peng buy tickets and snacks, bustling about. Xiaoxiu’s eyes were calm.

Su Peng wasn’t her ideal choice.

But now…

He had a ten-thousand-yuan household sister; that added a lot of points.

She had already found out that this family didn’t treat Su Ai like a human being; Su Ai, if she wasn’t a fool, wouldn’t give them any money.

But Su Peng had so much money.

Was Su Ai really a fool?

If she was, what difference would it make if that ten thousand yuan became hers after marriage?

“Xiaoxiu, come on!”

Xiaoxiu immediately smiled: “Okay, coming.”

They went into the cinema to watch the movie.  At that time, Su Ai was in the public toilet.

It was an old-fashioned toilet with a wall separating the men’s and women’s sections.

The lower part was a wall, about a person’s height; the upper part was open, so any sounds from either side could be clearly heard.

“You won’t believe it; Xiahe Village has a ten-thousand-yuan household.”

“Their whole family is living the high life now.”

“That Su Peng, the guy who just went in with the girl in the red sweater, pigtails, and red hair tie, he’s from that ten-thousand-yuan household.”

“He’s rich now; he’s taking his girlfriend to watch a movie.”

“His girlfriend is pretty; her name is Xiu’er.”

“They couldn’t afford to watch movies before; now they have money.”

“They’re watching movies, buying clothes, and eating at state-run restaurants. They bought over ten clothes yesterday, and they’re still buying today.”

Su Ai’s voice drifted into the men’s toilet. Two men who were about to relieve themselves suddenly paused, exchanging glances.

Only one clear signal.

Easy money?

The two listened more carefully.

They heard another voice: “What do you mean they’re rich now? Their family has always had money.  When they married off their daughter, they received several thousand yuan in bride price.”

“They’ve always had money.”

“I heard that Su Peng’s wedding will have the ‘three turns and one ring’ and several hundred yuan in bride price.”

“They’re rich, really rich.”

“Tsk tsk.”

“Why don’t we have such good luck? Why can’t we find such a rich family?”

“That’s a ten-thousand-yuan household; ten thousand yuan!  Gosh, how many years would it take to earn that much money? You’d die before you earned that much.”

The two men’s eyes were gleaming with excitement.

The two women on the other side stopped talking about this topic and started chatting about other things. The two men finished up, zipped up, and left the toilet.

Su Ai, hearing the sounds fade, turned and left.

If anyone had been there, they would have seen that Su Ai was alone in the toilet; where did the two people come from?

The two voices were hers.

Su Ai went out and saw the two men waiting at the cinema entrance.  Watching them wait until Su Peng and Xiaoxiu left the cinema and headed towards the state-run restaurant, the two men whispered.

“Red sweater, pigtails, red hair tie.”

“The guy called the girl Xiu’er; I heard him.”

“That’s them.”

“That woman is pretty.”

“Let’s follow them.”

Su Ai watched the two men follow, and she slowly trailed behind.

Watching Su Peng and his girlfriend enter the state-run restaurant, she followed them in.

The two men found a table next to them.

“Su Ai? What are you doing here?”

Su Ai smiled, not angry.

“This is a restaurant; why can’t I be here?”

So this is the ten-thousand-yuan household?

Qi Xiuer immediately stood up, smiling gently: “Sister.”

Su Ai looked at Su Peng, then at Qi Xiuer; she really wanted to laugh.

Sometimes, the saying “birds of a feather flock together” is true.

One is a freeloader, one is greedy, one is terrible, and one is fickle.

In her past life, Su Peng’s wife wasn’t Qi Xiuer.

Su Peng didn’t have a ten-thousand-yuan household sister in his past life. Qi Xiuer didn’t like him and ended up marrying a young man who worked in the city.

So she smiled and sat down.

“You’re Su Peng’s girlfriend, right? You’re very pretty.”

Qi Xiuer smiled even more gently. She had only heard rumors about Su Ai but hadn’t met her.

People used to say she was a troublemaker, reckless and irresponsible.

But seeing her today, Qi Xiuer didn’t think so.

She couldn’t say for sure, but she was good at judging people.  For example, Su Peng; she knew he was a loser.

So she had never considered Su Peng as a marriage partner. Even if his family had some money, he was incompetent; that money would be gone sooner or later.

But this Su Ai…

She wasn’t a troublemaker.

She had a high nose bridge, thick eyebrows, red lips, and a gentle yet firm gaze; she was unfathomable; she wasn’t a troublemaker.

She was shrewd, capable, and strong-willed.

No wonder she could earn so much money.

If she were a man, she would be a great marriage partner.

Su Ai met Qi Xiuer’s gaze; her eyes flickered.

This woman was quite perceptive.

“I came to the city to buy things.”

“Since we’ve met, let me treat you to dinner.”

“Add two more dishes.”

Su Ai enthusiastically called the waiter to add more meat.

“Sister, no need to order so much; the three of us can’t finish it.”

“It’s okay if we can’t finish it; this is the first time I’ve met you; I hope we’ll become family soon.”

Su Ai smiled, setting a trap.

Su Peng’s smile was uneasy, but he didn’t drive Su Ai away; he understood that Su Ai was his face now.

So he nudged Qi Xiuer: “Our family has money; don’t be so frugal, Xiaoxiu.”

“Order whatever you like; add two more dishes.”

Damn it, let you put on an act; I’ll slaughter you.

Su Ai’s smile didn’t change; she waved her hand: “It’s okay; order whatever you want.”

“It’s okay if we can’t finish it; it’s just a little money; our family has plenty of money, right, Su Peng?”

Su Peng immediately nodded.

This display of wealth made the two men sitting nearby even more excited.
