Release the Female Lead, Leave Her to Me
Release the Female Lead Ch. 301

Chapter 301: Large-Scale Spectacle (4th Update)

As she spoke, she ate another spirit fruit and heard the host announce the start of the apprenticeship ceremony. Ye Wenxin stood up along with everyone else. They watched as Long Qing’er reappeared and offered tea to Fairy Fengya, who was seated on a dais.

The imperial family did not kneel to anything or anyone, only to the monarch, and this master was the only exception to this rule. Long Qing’er wore a serious expression, waiting for Fairy Fengya’s response.

Fairy Fengya, however, seemed distracted. Her gaze was fixed on Ye Wenxin in the distance as if hoping she might disrupt the ceremony. But this wasn’t a wedding, just a so-called apprenticeship ceremony, and Ye Wenxin had no intention of causing any disturbance.

Yet, if Fairy Fengya were truly to get married, Ye Wenxin felt she might even go so far as to snatch the groom just to infuriate Fairy Fengya.

“Master, please accept this disciple’s bow.” Sensing Fairy Fengya’s silence, Long Qing’er raised her voice again to emphasize her request, though she still felt uneasy.

The Sect Master was making every effort to signal to Fairy Fengya. Ye Wenxin immediately understood that this apprenticeship ceremony was not Fairy Fengya’s choice, but was arranged by the Sect Master.

Seeing that Ye Wenxin didn’t react at all, Fairy Fengya took the teacup and drank a sip, thereby accepting it. Long Qing’er breathed a sigh of relief, and then took out the apprenticeship gift from her storage ring.

A bag of holding only had one cubic meter of space, but a storage ring was different. A storage ring could hold all kinds of things almost without limit, but it was incredibly expensive.

“Master, this is my apprenticeship gift,” Long Qing’er said, stepping back a few steps and taking out the item from the storage ring. Everyone stared intently, and upon seeing the item, they couldn’t help but gasp.

Even Ye Wenxin was extremely surprised; the gift Long Qing’er presented was actually a flying magic item.

The flying magic item was shaped like a phoenix with burning flame stones, lifelike and firey red. Seeing the materials and craftsmanship, it was evident that it could be worth half a country. Such luxury and grandeur, as if it was worth half the Golden Age Dynasty, became Long Qing’er’s apprenticeship gift.

“Ah, suddenly I feel so envious.” Ye Wenxin thought of her own hard work. Her current wealth could at most buy a town, while Long Qing’er’s gift was extraordinarily valuable.

Despite understanding the value of the flying magic item, Fairy Fengya’s expression didn’t change, nor did her actions. She merely said blandly, “No need; the ceremony is complete.” As she spoke, she stood up, seemingly unwilling to stay in this place any longer.

Long Qing’er was stunned, as was the Sect Master. Everyone else had their own thoughts but still admired Fairy Fengya’s otherworldly demeanor.

Fairy Fengya ignored everything and continued walking forward, seemingly intending to leave the great hall. Immediately, the two Secret Guards intercepted her. It was at this moment that Ye Wenxin finally understood; the Secret Guards weren’t trying to stop bystanders like them but rather Fairy Fengya herself.

Seeing Fairy Fengya forced to do something she didn’t like, Ye Wenxin was even more amused. She grabbed a plate of spirit fruits from the table beside her, ready to watch a dramatic battle unfold.

Long Qing’er had mentally prepared herself, but she still didn’t expect Fairy Fengya to be even more indifferent than she had imagined. Now that things had come to this, Long Qing’er had to try and leave an impression on Fairy Fengya. She persevered and added, “Master, how should I find you in the future?”

Fairy Fengya didn’t answer; she stood there in silence. She seemed lost in thought, but Ye Wenxin felt that Fairy Fengya was probably conversing with Great Grandma.

Finally, Fairy Fengya spoke just four words.

“My school master residence.”

Fairy Fengya once again strode forward. With a wave of her hand, the two Nascent Soul stage cultivators were immediately lifted into the air, and quickly lost consciousness. Even the meticulously prepared talismans couldn’t stop her grasp, rendering them ineffective.

The great hall returned to calmness, but the shock among the people was indescribable. Ye Wenxin looked at Long Qing’er’s devastated expression. She was about to offer some comforting words when Long Qing’er suddenly showed an even more excited expression and exclaimed, “As expected of Master!”

Ye Wenxin, seeing Long Qing’er so spirited, could only silently wish her luck, hoping she could melt Fairy Fengya’s icy heart within the next few millennia.

Jin Xiaoqin glanced at the flying magic item behind her with considerable envy, but ultimately, she just took another look before deciding to pull Ye Wenxin away, leaving the scene.

“Alright, the apprenticeship ceremony is over. Let’s go back.”

Ye Wenxin nodded and was about to leave when Long Qing’er’s voice called out again.

“Junior Sister Wenxin, wait a moment.”

Jin Xiaoqin, already on edge from hearing Long Qing’er’s voice, positioned herself protectively in front of Ye Wenxin, not giving the royal any chance to harm her.

Ye Wenxin was shocked and assumed that Jin Xiaoqin’s fears had come true, but then Long Qing’er said, “My aunt once told me that my Phoenix Fire cannot be given away easily. I didn’t believe it at the time, but now I have to admit she was right.”

“Ahem, don’t worry too much,  Senior Sister Qing’er. If one attempt to give a gift doesn’t work, try again. However, it’s best to give something practical, like medicinal pills,” Ye Wenxin suggested, recalling the aftereffects Fairy Fengya suffered from forcibly trying to overcome her Tribulation of Emotions.

She needed a large number of Heart-Cleansing Pills, but aside from Ling Jue and Ye Wenxin, there weren’t many people who could make Heart-Cleansing Pills in this world.

Ye Wenxin hinted at Long Qing’er to buy her pills, and Long Qing’er seemed to catch on. She smiled. “Since I can’t give away the Phoenix Fire, why don’t I sell it to Junior Sister Wenxin in exchange for pills?”

Upon hearing this, Ye Wenxin felt a chill down her spine. She couldn’t imagine how many pills it would take to repay this debt. But seeing Long Qing’er’s serious expression, she began to ponder the potential profits from selling the Phoenix Fire.

As the scales of their transaction tipped, Long Qing’er noticed Ye Wenxin’s hesitation. She stepped closer. “My aunt said if I can’t give away the Phoenix Fire, I should sell it to you. I’m also puzzled as to why she wants me to do this.”

But Ye Wenxin understood clearly. Long Qingyue, intending to give it to her all along, had simply found a convenient excuse to do so.

Recalling the symbolism of a phoenix’s rebirth from the ashes, Ye Wenxin understood that Long Qingyue hoped she could start anew and enjoy the life she currently had.

But why a phoenix, specifically? Could Long Qingyue be hinting at her to pursue Fairy Fengya?

While Ye Wenxin’s mind was still occupied with these random thoughts, Long Qing’er swiftly used her storage ring to retrieve the Phoenix Fire, handing the ring along with the Phoenix Fire to Ye Wenxin.
