Chapter 306: You’ve Been Living Well in This Life
“But this is wonderful; you’ve become a human, and now we can stay together forever.”
Xuan Luofei continued to hold Ye Wenxin’s hand, her face beaming even brighter. She was a delicate-looking young woman, incomparable to the ladies Ye Wenxin knew. The peach blossom luck ignored her, however, which gave Ye Wenxin some relief.
“Zhu-zhu, here’s the food I bought for you before.” She took out some food from her bag of holding. Seeing that it had long since molded, Ye Wenxin could only smile as she accepted it, then discreetly threw it away into the distance.
“Zhu-zhu, I also have…”
Xuan Luofei pulled out a variety of snacks, but all of them had expired. Ye Wenxin couldn’t bring herself to say anything harsh and could only pray for this torment to end soon.
Finally, near noon, the sect leaders on stage finished all their pointless speeches. They were standing on an array, channeling their qi.
In an instant, a massive door appeared, towering impressively in the air. The spectacular scene made everyone eager, and they prepared to fly with their swords.
Xuan Luofei flipped the surface of her guqin and gently sat on it, bringing Xi Mengxuan along with her. Then, she looked at Ye Wenxin and asked, “Zhu-zhu, do you want me to take you along?”
Ye Wenxin pulled out her Phoenix Fire, intending to refuse. However, Xuan Luofei sniffed the air, as if sensing the presence of a flying magic item, and smiled softly.
“It seems you’ve been living quite well in this life, Zhu-zhu.”
Ye Wenxin said no more. She glanced back and saw that Jin Xiaoqin and the others were already coming along.
Using a flying magic item would be too conspicuous and could attract unnecessary attention. While Jin Xiaoqin found Ye Wenxin’s interactions with Xuan Luofei amusing, she was ultimately concerned for her disciple’s safety and said, “Alright, you two have spent enough time together. We need to take Zhu-zhu with us now.”
Jin Xiaoqin deliberately avoided calling Ye Wenxin by her name, and instead used ‘Zhu-zhu’. The others wore expressions of restraint, as if recalling the melodramatic story Jin Xiaoqin had described earlier. Even Long Qing’er couldn’t help but smile.
Fairy Fengya gave Ye Wenxin a faint look, as if silently asking, ‘Did you eat her spirit beast?’ Ye Wenxin inwardly winced, retracted her Phoenix Fire and was just about to ask Jin Xiaoqin to take her flying, when Long Qing’er approached and lifted her up.
“Wenxin, you’re our mainstay. It’s safer if you come with me.” With this, Long Qing’er gently placed Ye Wenxin behind her.
Jin Xiaoqin seemed slightly displeased but, realizing she and Fairy Fengya had to lead the way and couldn’t manage the burden of carrying Ye Wenxin, said nothing more.
“Alright, farewell, everyone. We’re heading in first.” Now that Ye Wenxin was back with them, the twenty members of the Azure Wings Sect flew towards the secret realm in a majestic procession.
Soon, only about a dozen people remained of the original hundred. They took off in groups of three or four, eventually flying into the secret realm.
After seeing the hundred people enter the secret realm in order, the eight sect leaders prepared to withdraw their power from the array together. However, one of them had impulsively injected slightly more qi, disrupting the array.
The next moment, all eight sect leaders were simultaneously repelled and they staggered back several steps, spitting out blood. Those who accompanied them gasped in concern, quickly checking on the condition of their respective leaders. Fortunately, the injuries were minor, which relieved everyone.
Nevertheless, this incident sparked suspicions among them. They feared that the demon sects had infiltrated the other sects, and were preparing to devour them at any moment. Anxiety spread among them, but no one dared to voice their concerns aloud.
They left with smiles, yet were silently vigilant.
A woman in red robes watched from a distance, revealing a sinister smile. Beside her, a woman in blue robes looked perplexed and asked about the thoughts of the woman in red.
“Palace Master, why not attack them straight away?”
“There’s no fun in killing them immediately.” The woman in red curled her lips, revealing an alluring smile brighter than any flower in the world.
The woman who asked the question was momentarily mesmerized by the beauty of the woman in red, her eyes losing focus. She heard the woman in red sigh, “If she were still here, she would definitely say this.” Her tone was a mix of nostalgia and lament as she finally turned and left.
This woman was none other than Liu Churan, the current Palace Master of the Wind and Moon Palace.
The Wind and Moon Palace played no part in the demon sects’ secret realm operation. Instead, they had intentionally leaked information about it to the immortal sects.
The Wind and Moon Palace’s goal was first to unify the demon sects, and then to catch the immortal sects in one fell swoop, ultimately annexing the dynasties to unite the world. This grand ambition was all for finding one person—the only one the woman in red couldn’t seduce in her lifetime.
If Ye Wenxin knew that her escape would lead the woman in red to harbor such a mad idea, she might be furious enough to trigger Qi Deviation. However, Ye Wenxin, still completely unaware of her future fate, had now entered the secret realm with her companions…
The surroundings were completely overgrown with vegetation, and the sky was so dark it seemed like it hadn’t seen the sun in days. Ahead of them stood towering city walls, so high they seemed to pierce the clouds, their exact height unknown.
Ye Wenxin and Long Qing’er had landed here together. They originally wanted to fly up to take a look, but Long Qing’er found that in this place, neither sword flight nor flying magic items worked at all. Even lightness skills proved ineffective.
There seemed to be an immense weight pressing down on them, forcing them to walk within the secret realm.
“Let’s follow this wall and keep walking. We might find others.” Long Qing’er finally realized the insurmountable nature of the wall, gave up on trying to scale it, and suggested a new course of action.
Ye Wenxin nodded. As she preferred to stay in the background, she naturally didn’t offer many opinions. Seeing Ye Wenxin’s compliant demeanor, Long Qing’er took the lead, weapon in hand, constantly on guard for any other people or creatures that might appear.
Ye Wenxin also had no idea what might appear in this secret realm, so she obediently followed along. Occasionally, she would glance around to spot any hidden mechanisms or secret paths.
After walking for about four hours, they hadn’t encountered a single person, let alone any secret realm monsters.
Long Qing’er remained vigilant, but she was concerned about Ye Wenxin’s low cultivation level compared to her own. She cautiously said, “Junior Sister, if you get tired, let me know.”
“Alright,” Ye Wenxin replied simply. Long Qing’er assumed Ye Wenxin was nervous and didn’t press further, so the two continued on their way.
After another six hours of walking, Long Qing’er was starting to feel tired. However, since Ye Wenxin hadn’t complained of fatigue, she reluctantly asked again, “Junior Sister, are you tired?”
