Qiao Wanqing was naturally blessed with great skin.
As a girl approaching 26 years old, her face was fair and spotless, with barely visible pores.
Combined with her diligent skincare routine, her skin was smooth, elastic, and full of collagen, something any woman would envy.
“If Miss Tan doesn’t like this, I can get you something else,” Qiao Wanqing offered earnestly.
Tan Yue looked helplessly at Qiao Wanqing, who was earnestly trying to convince her younger sister.
Qiao Wanqing’s little trick might fool her sister, but Tan Yue, being the old fox he was, saw through it at a glance.
However, he had no intention of exposing Qiao Wanqing.
In fact, he even added, “If it’s so beneficial, then Xiaoxin should drink more of it.”
“No need to change,” Miss Tan quietly took another sip and struggled to swallow it, saying, “It’s fine for me to drink this. Thank you, Miss Qiao.”
Qiao Wanqing chuckled inwardly as she watched Miss Tan reluctantly sip on the vegetable juice she clearly didn’t like.
Just then, Kou Kou, who had been running around, had somehow made his way to the door and suddenly shouted happily, “Daddy, daddy!”
Qiao Wanqing raised an eyebrow at how timely his arrival was.
On the other hand, Tan Xin’s expression changed immediately.
When she arrived here and didn’t see Gu Yanqing, she had silently hoped that maybe they weren’t together after all.
After all, Qiao Wanqing seemed determined to settle down here for the long term, and Gu Yanqing had his own career that he couldn’t just abandon.
Their relationship could only be long-distance.
Moreover, even if Qiao Wanqing became the boss here, she couldn’t change the fact that Gu Yanqing was the only son of a prestigious family.
The difference in their social status was too great.
Qiao Wanqing couldn’t even reach the threshold of his family.
So, she always hoped they weren’t together and that Gu Yanqing was just using an excuse to reject her.
Qiao Wanqing rushed over worriedly when Kou Kou hurried out, afraid he might fall.
Tan Xin saw her rushing so eagerly and her expression turned even more unpleasant.
Kou Kou hadn’t seen his father for a long time, so he was excited and ran a few steps unsteadily, inevitably tripping and falling.
Qiao Wanqing couldn’t catch him in time, so she quickly picked him up.
Gu Yanqing watched as his son ran towards him and fell, feeling heartbroken.
He hurried over and took Kou Kou from Qiao Wanqing’s arms, asking anxiously, “Did you hurt yourself, baby?”
Kou Kou hadn’t cried when Qiao Wanqing held him, but now, in Gu Yanqing’s arms, he whimpered and cried, nestling into his embrace, calling him “daddy.”
Gu Yanqing’s heart ached as he kissed his little face to comfort him.
“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming?” Qiao Wanqing had no idea he would be here today.
“That wouldn’t be a surprise,” Gu Yanqing replied softly, holding Kou Kou with one arm and reaching out to her with the other. “Do you miss me?”
Normally, Qiao Wanqing would playfully respond with a half-yes, but today she avoided his hand and said, “Someone misses you more than I do.”
“Kou Kou?” Gu Yanqing asked.
Qiao Wanqing smiled mysteriously. “You’ll find out when you go inside.”
Their vegetarian restaurant was designed with glass walls all around.
Although Miss Tan and her group weren’t seated by the windows on this side, Gu Yanqing couldn’t see who had arrived.
However, from their angle, Miss Tan and her group could see the affectionate family of three outside.
Tan Yue glanced over casually and remarked, “Looks like the Cinderella and Prince love story does exist.”
Tan Xin’s expression soured.
Despite having given up on Gu Yanqing, she couldn’t help feeling resentful.
If it had been someone similar to her, she might have accepted it, but seeing Gu Yanqing with someone like Qiao Wanqing, who was inferior in every way, was hard for her to accept.
Gu Yanqing carried Kou Kou, who was still cuddling in his arms, and walked into the restaurant with Qiao Wanqing.
When he saw who was sitting inside, his relaxed expression darkened.
It was them again.
“Aren’t you going to say hello?” Qiao Wanqing noticed his change in demeanor but proceeded casually with Kou Kou in her arms.
She asked him.
“I don’t know them well,” Gu Yanqing replied calmly.
Indeed, he wasn’t familiar with Miss Tan and Tan Yue, at least not enough to feel the need to greet them.
Moreover, Qiao Wanqing knew Miss Tan’s feelings towards him, so if he were to approach them now, Qiao Wanqing would definitely feel uncomfortable.
“But Miss Tan has already made things difficult for me because of you,” Qiao Wanqing continued.
Gu Yanqing stopped in his tracks. “How did she make things difficult for you?”
“I was kidding,” Qiao Wanqing saw Gu Yanqing’s nervousness and suddenly didn’t want him to confront Miss Tan or anything like that.
Besides, Miss Tan just felt their food didn’t suit her taste as a customer, and she even offered to pay.
Even if she was being difficult, as a young lady, Gu Yanqing, a grown man, going over to her wouldn’t be appropriate.
Anyway, she had already sorted things out herself.
Gu Yanqing should just focus on being handsome.
Qiao Wanqing joked, “I just wanted to see if you guys were having an affair!”
Gu Yanqing chuckled helplessly at her words. “I’ve barely spoken a few words to her. How could there be an affair? Maybe she just has a crush on your handsome almost-boyfriend.”
“What if I say it’s your fault?” Qiao Wanqing teased.
“Well…” Gu Yanqing pretended to be in a dilemma. “I guess I’ll have to kneel before the keyboard.”
Qiao Wanqing burst out laughing at his response.
Gu Yanqing kissed her cheek and whispered, “Is that okay?”
They were still within Miss Tan’s line of sight, and she probably saw Gu Yanqing’s gesture.
Although it wasn’t very fair to her, Qiao Wanqing couldn’t help but feel incredibly happy, brushing aside the annoyance from Miss Tan’s criticism.
The feeling was just so liberating, hahaha.
They returned to their room in the restaurant, where Gu Yanqing gently pulled Kou Kou out of his arms.
The little guy had scraped his hand when he fell earlier, and Gu Yanqing tenderly inspected the small wound. “Should we disinfect it?”
“It should be okay. Kids bump into things all the time. His healing ability is pretty strong. Disinfecting it might hurt more.”
“Blow, blow,” Kou Kou held out his hand, asking Gu Yanqing to blow on it.
Whenever Kou Kou got hurt, Qiao Wanqing would blow on his injuries to comfort him, which seemed to make him feel better.
Gu Yanqing blew on his hand twice, and Kou Kou finally smiled happily.
Qiao Wanqing asked, “Are we having lunch?”
“Not yet. I’ll join you later.”
“Well, then I’ll start cooking. Are you really not going to greet that Miss Tan?”
Facing such a direct question, Gu Yanqing naturally wouldn’t walk into that trap. “You’ve asked me that so many times, and my answer is always the same.”
“Okay, I’ll go cook then. You take care of Kouko… Hey, what are you doing!”
Gu Yanqing unexpectedly pulled her into his arms while she was off guard.
With Kou Kou already in his arms, it was a bit crowded, and Qiao Wanqing felt a bit embarrassed being squeezed into the same embrace as her son.
When she tried to break free, she felt his hand tighten around her waist.
“Don’t move, let me hold you,” Gu Yanqing’s hand gently encircled her slender waist, kissing her hair. “Missed you these past few days.”
Although their relationship had been intermittent over the past two months, with subtle signs of affection, physical intimacy like holding hands and forehead kisses were rare.
The recent kiss on the cheek was already quite a breakthrough.
Mainly, Gu Yanqing was cautious, gradually easing into their relationship, fearing she might not adjust well.
Now, being suddenly embraced so intimately, Qiao Wanqing blushed instantly.
After hesitating for a moment, she gently rested her head on Gu Yanqing’s shoulder.
After being apart for so long, it wasn’t just him who missed her.
Unfortunately, this peaceful moment didn’t last more than two seconds before it was abruptly interrupted.
Both of them simultaneously caught a whiff of a foul smell — Kou Kou had chosen this moment to mess his diaper.
For the first time, Gu Yanqing didn’t find his son quite so adorable.
Qiao Wanqing couldn’t help but laugh at the situation. “I’ll go cook. I’m leaving our son to you.”
Kou Kou’s diaper situation was not just a simple change; it required cleaning as well.
Since there was no readily available hot water in the room, Gu Yanqing took a kettle to fetch water outside and heat it for Kou Kou’s cleaning.
As he was carrying the kettle back to the room, he heard Tan Xin’s voice behind him. “Mr. Gu.”
Gu Yanqing paused. “Yes?”
After a moment of silence, Tan Xin suddenly asked, “What does she have that I don’t?”
“There’s nothing you lack compared to her. She’s just the best in my heart.”
Everything on one person.
“I know,” Miss Tan regained her composure in a second, “I just feel a bit unwilling to lose to her.”
Gu Yanqing frowned.
In fact, Tan Xin didn’t really like him that much.
She was more obsessed with the idea of not being able to have someone herself.
Seeing that Qiao Wanqing, who she considered inferior in every way, easily got what she couldn’t, made her resentful.
Thinking of this, Gu Yanqing spoke in a slightly lowered voice, “Miss Tan, she is mine, so I hope you’ll be more careful with your words and actions.”
After saying that, Gu Yanqing didn’t wait for her to defend herself or put on a sad expression.
He turned and walked straight into the room.
Originally, he was going to say this to Tan Xin on the phone.
He knew that what Qiao Wanqing had just said about her was definitely not an empty threat, and if he didn’t say anything, the other side might still look for opportunities to make things difficult for Qiao Wanqing.
However, as soon as he walked into the room, he saw Qiao Wanqing, who should have been in the kitchen making lunch.
They were talking at the door, and Qiao Wanqing must have heard everything.
Gu Yanqing casually put the kettle on the table, closed the door, pushed her against the door, and looked at her, saying, “Miss Qiao, are you satisfied with my answer just now?”
Qiao Wanqing had only come over to deliver a glass of vegetable juice and hadn’t thought to eavesdrop.
After considering for a moment, she finally said, “I… um.”
She had only said one word when Gu Yanqing suddenly lowered his head and kissed the lips that he had been thinking about for a long time.
This was their first kiss, and both of them were a bit awkward at first, bumping into each other a few times.
However, Gu Yanqing quickly figured out the trick.
He wrapped his arm around her waist and gently held the back of her head, drawing her into an intimate embrace.
The air in the room immediately became thick with ambiguity.
She didn’t know how long they had been kissing.
For Qiao Wanqing, it felt like a century.
Gradually, her breath was overtaken by him, and the oxygen in her chest grew scarce.
She felt dizzy, as if floating in the clouds or drowning in water.
It wasn’t comfortable at all; instead, it was quite unbearable.
She wanted to push away Gu Yanqing, but found her hands lacking strength.
It felt like a mixture of wanting and resisting, so she clenched her teeth tightly, preventing him from going any further.
Kouko was originally playing and waiting for his father to wash his butt came over, curiously watching his father gnawing on his mother.
His mother, weak and helpless, was pressed against the door by his father to bear his kiss.
In his eyes, this was simply a scene of “violence”, and he suddenly felt that life was bleak, crying out with a “whoa” sound.
The two of them finally regained their senses from their entanglement.
Gu Yanqing quickly let go of Qiao Wanqing, affectionately kissed the corner of her mouth, and then bent down to pick it up Koukou: “What’s wrong, baby?”
Kouko reached out his little hands and patted him, crying and sobbing, “Daddy, bad, wah-wah.”
Gu Yanqing, suddenly saddled with the blame of a big pot from his son, couldn’t help but think, “…”
Where did he go wrong?
But Kouko, oblivious, stubbornly believed his dad was a villain, refusing his embrace and turning to find his mom.
Qiao Wanqing, still catching her breath, was suddenly hugged tightly by Kouko.
After comforting him for a bit, she said, “Yes, Daddy is a big villain!”
Gu Yanqing had no choice but to accept this blame and carry it on his back, obediently going to boil water to wash his son’s bottom.
He noticed a cup on the table filled with orange-red liquid that looked somewhat like orange juice, and asked Qiao Wanqing, “What’s this?”
Qiao Wanqing, remembering her original intent, replied, “Oh, I thought you might be thirsty, so I juiced some vegetables for you. Drink it while it’s fresh.”
Gu Yanqing lifted it up and sniffed, instantly recognizing it as the carrot juice that both he and Kouko disliked the most…
