Chapter 12: Trump Card
Let him sleep a little longer. Because Chen Xin suddenly remembered that there was no place to take a bath. Since she hadn’t changed her clothes, she had only managed to wipe herself down in the kitchen last night, while Fang Ziyu had been in the room.
What puzzled Chen Xin was why the previous owner didn’t build a bathroom when they set up the kitchen? Even if it was a risky project.
Apart from the kitchen, this small courtyard only had one house, about ninety square meters. Chen Xin hoped to buy this piece of land and rebuild it in a few days. At least there should be a living room and a bathroom.
Not wanting to waste time, she put the dishes back in the pot to keep them warm, hastily left the courtyard, and used her light skills to rush to the back mountain. Moving at such a speed, under the moonlight, Chen Xin left a trail of shadows from near to far before disappearing in the blink of an eye. At this moment, anyone with skills would recognize that Chen Xin’s light skills had reached the pinnacle.
Arriving at the foot of the mountain, Chen Xin planned to cut some long grass. She intended to use broken bamboo sticks clamped at both ends with grass tied around them to make a simple door. With four of these doors assembled and secured, it would become a rudimentary bathroom. But without a knife, she was at a loss. After standing with her arms folded for a while, she raised her eyebrows and deepened her gaze, seeming to realize that this was the only way.
Closing her eyes slightly, she sensed that there was no one nearby. She raised her hand, picked up a leaf, put it to her lips, and blew sharply.
*Whish whish whish…*
The long grass and trees around Chen Xin were cut at a speed visible to the naked eye, extending up the mountain like a breaking wave until it barely stopped at the mountaintop five hundred meters away. The spectacular scene was jaw-dropping.
Chen Xin was even more surprised. She knew very well that she had only used ten percent of her power, yet she had caused such significant damage. How could she not be delighted?
As for this martial art, Chen Xin had never used it before. It had always been her trump card, hidden away. Although she knew it was powerful, it was even more powerful than she had expected. Previously, she had only used her light skills and dagger to deal with enemies, which she could easily handle, especially with the addition of firearms. So she had never had the opportunity to use it.
At the age of seven, when she saw this martial art book covered in dust and placed in a corner, titled “Invisible,” she was curious about its strange and seemingly infinite name. As she slowly deciphered it, she began seventeen years of fervent practice. As for the people in the family, they only knew that she was unmatched in light skills, but they didn’t know that she specialized in “Invisible”; light skills were only her secondary focus.
Even so, “Invisible” had only reached the second level of completion, reaching a bottleneck six years ago, and had been unable to enter the final and most difficult third level. Mastery of the third level was true invisible killing, true ultimate supremacy. Now, she was just one step away from breaking through to the third level.
The first level is constantly practicing muscles and bones, while the second level is about controlling power, using invisible wind to slowly merge internal strength into the wind, and then controlling it to become wind blades. However, what really excites Chen Xin is the ability to control thousands of wind blades to kill enemies, a heaven-defying skill that allows her to outnumber her opponents.
Just now, she used wind blades to cut through the grass and trees, but her internal strength was strong while her technique was clumsy. She couldn’t control it freely because she had always focused on cultivating internal strength and had never used “Invisible.”
Thinking about this, she looked at her masterpiece with helplessness. Tomorrow, the villagers would probably be in an uproar, but she didn’t have time to think about it. Chen Xin hurried away.
When she returned to the courtyard, it seemed like a long time had passed, but in reality, it had only been about ten minutes since she left. She quickly set up her ideal rudimentary bathroom and walked into the house.
To her surprise, she saw Fang Ziyu, pale-faced, sitting on the ground, alternating between laughing and crying. His hair was disheveled, his eyes vacant, and his clothes covered in mud. Even his bare feet were scratched all over, which made Chen Xin’s heart ache sharply.
What happened? What happened while she was away? Chen Xin felt like she couldn’t catch her breath. Holding her chest, she staggered towards Fang Ziyu, squatting down to meet his eyes cautiously, and said softly, “Xiao Yu’er? What happened?”
“Xiao Yu’er, it’s me, Xin. Look at me, okay?”
Seeing that he still didn’t respond, Chen Xin felt increasingly anxious and angry. If she found out who caused Xiao Yu’er to become like this, no amount of punishment would be enough to relieve her hatred.
She lifted him up and held him in her arms, gently kissing away his tears, calling his name continuously, and carefully observing his face until she saw Fang Ziyu gradually regain the brightness in his beautiful eyes, which finally relieved her.
Fang Ziyu seemed to have sensed something since Chen Xin left. He slept restlessly, almost waking up several times, but finally woke up slowly.
Not seeing Chen Xin in the house, he panicked, remembering the anxiety from earlier. Hastily rushing to the kitchen, he didn’t find Chen Xin there either. Frantically, he ran outside to search.
But in his panic, he didn’t notice the stones under his feet and tripped and fell: “Ah!” The pain made him cry out, but he couldn’t compare it to the pain in his heart at the moment.
Ignoring the pain in his body, Fang Ziyu got up and quickly searched for the place where Chen Xin had bought the horse today, but there was still no sign of Chen Xin.
He searched around the courtyard, where the abandoned fields were filled with knee-high grass, and he didn’t even know where his shoes were. Fang Ziyu choked back tears as he called out Chen Xin’s name, occasionally falling down but immediately getting up to continue searching, his phoenix eyes filled with hope as he looked into the dark night, hoping that his heart would appear.
And Fang Ziyu didn’t know how he returned to the courtyard. Sitting despondently on the ground, he recalled everything with Chen Xin, smiling at the happy times, but then realized that Chen Xin might have left and couldn’t help but shed tears.
Where did she go? Did she abandon him? Where are you, Xin? I’m hungry, cold, and scared now.
But he seemed to hear Xin’s voice. Was it real? Looking up, it seemed that it really was Xin.
