Chapter 25: Farewell
“When will you leave?”
“I’ll leave when I bring Xian Xiaoxiao’s husband here. Oh right, take this. It’s my personal belonging. Carry it with you at all times, okay?”
Saying so, Chen Xin stuffed a dagger into Fang Ziyu’s hand, at least she felt a little more reassured this way.
Holding the object in his hand, Fang Ziyu was puzzled. It was a very ordinary black iron block, but it was heavy, with only a white tassel adding a hint of color.
“What is this?” he asked.
“It’s a dagger.” Actually, Chen Xin didn’t want Fang Ziyu to be exposed to these things that were far from him, but…
“What’s a dagger?” Fang Ziyu still didn’t understand.
At this, Chen Xin pulled out the snow-white sharp blade, and a dazzling white light flashed in the room, causing Fang Ziyu to instinctively close his eyes.
Afterwards, he slowly opened them, feeling a bit curious and nervous, wanting to touch it, but Chen Xin grabbed his hand and inserted it back into its sheath.
“Xin?” He pouted discontentedly.
In fact, Chen Xin was most surprised. She didn’t expect Fang Ziyu not to be afraid and even dare to reach out to touch it. Of course, Chen Xin wouldn’t allow it. Playing with fire was not a joke; it would be bad if he got hurt.
Chen Xin realized that she had underestimated Fang Ziyu. Sometimes, he could indeed be bold. Thinking about it made her laugh and say, “If anyone bullies you, you can use this to defend yourself. Are you afraid?”
“I’m not afraid. But will such a sharp thing kill people?” He said he wasn’t afraid, but he was still a bit nervous and scared. However, there was also a hint of excitement in his heart. Fang Ziyu didn’t understand what was going on with himself.
“I’ll take responsibility for any fatalities. Just defend yourself if needed.” Chen Xin tried to boost Fang Ziyu’s confidence.
“Alright, Xin, don’t worry. No one will bully me.” He hugged Chen Xin and said softly.
Seeing this, Chen Xin suddenly turned his body around, lifted his head, and fiercely kissed his lips, entwining passionately. For a moment, the ambiguous sound of saliva in the room could be heard.
As Fang Ziyu hugged Chen Xin’s neck, his hand gradually weakened with her kiss. He didn’t even realize when the dagger fell to the ground, relying only on Chen Xin’s hand to support himself. He just felt that he loved being close to her, and his heart was filled with sweetness.
At this moment, Fang Ziyu’s cheeks were rosy, his phoenix eyes half-closed, his curled eyelashes slightly lowered, unable to conceal the charming demeanor inside.
To prevent them from feeling more uncomfortable, Chen Xin reluctantly withdrew from his tempting lips, pressed her forehead against his, soothing the restlessness in her body. She watched him breathe heavily and thought he looked so handsome.
Getting up, she gently placed Fang Ziyu on the bed, took out the last silver ticket from her body, and put it into his belt. “Hold onto this just in case.”
Then, she bent down to pick up the dagger from the ground, patted it, and handed it to him, saying, “I’m leaving. I’ll take a carriage to pick up Xiaoxiao’s husband, and I won’t come inside once I reach the door.”
Seeing his eyes reddening again, she was afraid of him being like this. She kissed his lips firmly and then quickly left Fang Ziyu’s sight.
Listening to the sound of the carriage outside, Fang Ziyu finally shed tears of reluctance. After being inseparable for the past two or three days, he was suddenly alone again, surrounded by loneliness.
But thinking that Chen Xin left for him, and not wanting her to worry, he wiped away his tears with a handkerchief, put on a strong smile, lifted the dagger that Chen Xin gave him, remembering that she said it was her personal belonging. He carefully tucked it into his chest pocket, his eyes filled with cherished love.
Muttering to himself, “I mustn’t let Xin worry.”
—
Having brought Xian Xiaoxiao’s husband back to Linjia Village, Chen Xin, leading Chao Feng, said to him, “Thank you for taking care of him. Can I trouble you to look after him more?”
Seeing Chen Xin being so polite, Xian Xiaoxiao’s husband nodded shyly and said, “Don’t worry.”
Xian Xiaoxiao’s husband kept his head down, not daring to look at Chen Xin directly, trying to appear more generous.
Originally, he was at home helping his wife pack things and chatting and laughing together as they anticipated their future life.
He didn’t expect to hear someone calling his wife outside saying there was something to entrust. Hearing that it was just to accompany her fiance wasn’t a difficult task, so he agreed.
“Well, then, I’ll thank you in advance.” Chen Xin smiled gratefully and gracefully, then mounted her horse. “Chao Feng, let’s go.”
