Chapter 35 Can’t Win
“Ah Xu!” Ji Lianzhou blocked a wave of demonic energy, then turned back with a furrowed brow. “Why have you come? This demon is formidable. Even with Yu Xiao and I, we cannot defeat it. Can you?”
He looked at Chu Xuyun with concern. Though Ji Lianzhou had known Chu Xuyun was strong since childhood, separated by many years and distance, they had never fought together. He was uncertain of Chu Xuyun’s current true strength.
If the three of them combined couldn’t eliminate this demon, the world might fall completely under its control.
Upon hearing this, Chu Xuyun slowly raised his eyes and looked at the man enveloped by dense demonic mist under the dark tree shadows.
“Earlier, that celestial phenomenon was likely caused by this person. Ordinary demonic cultivators wouldn’t trigger such phenomena; only a perfected evil immortal could do so.
Evil immortal…
He had never faced such a powerful demonic cultivator before, and he didn’t know if he could win. Moreover, his Silent Way had just broken through, and his cultivation at this moment was certainly not as strong as before.
Chu Xuyun cautiously raised his sword, shielding Yu Xiao behind him. “I’m not sure, but I’ll do my best.”
Upon hearing this, both Ji Lianzhou and Yu Xiao’s expressions changed.
If even Chu Xuyun wasn’t confident, it seemed they were in for a fierce battle today.
Yu Xiao stood up straight, handing a Thousand tribulations to Chu Xuyun. He pursed his lips and whispered, “Return it to its owner.”
He had more to say but now wasn’t the best time. If he survived, he would tell Chu Xuyun everything in one breath.
If not, it would be his own fault.
Chu Xuyun took a Thousand tribulations without noticing Yu Xiao’s hesitant expression, focusing on the evil immortal across from him.
“Another one comes.” Su Yang yawned lazily, showing no regard for Chu Xuyun, even starting to feel bored. “Can you bring over the strongest cultivators so I can have some fun?”
Chu Xuyun stared at him intently, silent, shifting his stance into a ready position.
Receiving no response, Su Yang’s brow furrowed slightly. He looked coldly at Chu Xuyun, not far from him.
“So thin and yet so timid. Scared into silence with just a few words. Doesn’t seem like a formidable opponent.”
Well, since that brat insisted on not releasing the demonic insects, he would have to resort to killing a chicken to scare the monkeys, showing him the consequences of not heeding advice.
Starting with this cowardly kid.
Su Yang slowly stood up, drew a blood-stained large knife from his waist, lightly tapped his toe, and his figure instantly descended from the city wall to the ground, only five steps away from Chu Xuyun in an instant.
“A Xu, danger!” Ji Lianzhou’s pupils contracted rapidly, wanting to step forward to help but finding himself trapped by demonic energy, unable to break free.
The cultivation of this evil immortal was already unfathomable, far beyond what Chu Xuyun could withstand. Unless a true immortal was here, even Chu Xuyun would be powerless.
Yu Xiao also understood this point well. Just as he was about to stand in front of Chu Xuyun, “Ah Xu, I have a demonic insect on me that might be able to remove Su Yang…”
Before he could finish, he heard a faintly cold voice.
“Don’t come.”
His blood froze instantly, staring blankly at Chu Xuyun, feeling for a moment that Chu Xuyun had changed, his aura completely different.
He had never truly seen Chu Xuyun eliminate demons before. Earlier, he had a demonic insect in him, so the sect would avoid suspicion and not let him participate in demon-removal missions.
He didn’t know how Chu Xuyun killed those demonic cultivators, nor did he know that Chu Xuyun would be so calm and serious when removing demons.
Perhaps… he could trust Ah Xu?
Su Yang naturally heard Chu Xuyun’s words too. He looked down at Chu Xuyun from a high vantage point, coldly watching him. From his lips came a sneer of mockery, “Arrogant fool.”
Such trash was even worthy of him taking action personally? Back in the day, he was probably unable to defeat even his underlings.
As he spoke, Su Yang fiercely swung the large knife toward Chu Xuyun’s neck with the speed of lightning and thunder.
Such a slender neck, like breaking off a new branch from a tree, would easily snap in two, and then gushing out hot blood.
He was excited, unable to wait to see Chu Xuyun’s head separate from his body.
“Ah Xu!!” Ji Lianzhou screamed heartbreakingly.
Yu Xiao’s breath also stagnated in that instant.
However, in just a moment, the smile on Su Yang’s face stiffened abruptly.
Looking along the knife, he saw the young cultivator opposite him with a cold and stern expression, effortlessly blocking his long knife with a light raise of his sword.
How was this possible?
Su Yang looked at Chu Xuyun in disbelief, increasing the strength of his attack, but Chu Xuyun’s sword remained unmoved, as if suspended in mid-air.
He had indeed only used ten percent of his strength with that blow just now, but now he was using eighty percent!
There was absolutely no cultivator here who could withstand such a strike!
Su Yang raised his eyes in disbelief, looking at Chu Xuyun, while Chu Xuyun’s eyes flashed a hint of confusion as if to say,
Is that all?
He had thought he might die from that blow.
In an instant, not only Su Yang stood stupefied in place, but even Ji Lianzhou and Yu Xiao were frozen on the spot.
Ah Xu… you…
Have you already become immortal??
“Who are you?” Su Yang didn’t hesitate to step back to a safe corner, his eyes slightly widened, staring at Chu Xuyun with unsettled horror. “What’s your name, and which sect are you from? Why have I never seen you before?”
It was impossible. There couldn’t possibly be such a monster in the cultivation world. After becoming a demon lord, he had never seen such a nameless cultivator from any sect.
Chu Xuyun simply and honestly swung down his sword, saying, “Taiqing Sect, Chu Xuyun.”
Wow.
So this was what it felt like to give your name before a fight. It felt so cool. In previous fights, he could only stare back at the opponent with his eyes.
Chu Xuyun felt a small satisfaction in his heart.
“You’re from the Taiqing Sect?” Su Yang’s eyes widened slightly, obviously knowing the Taiqing Sect. “Do you know Chu Zheng?”
As soon as he finished speaking, Chu Xuyun hesitated for a moment, softly saying, “He’s my elder brother.”
He had never met this elder brother. At birth, his elder brother had been killed by demonic cultivators, and he heard from the neighbors that his elder brother had died pitifully, with even his body not being completely intact.
Hearing his words, Su Yang understood everything, laughed loudly twice, then suddenly tore open his chest shirt, revealing a fist-sized horrific scar on his chest, “So you’re Chu Zheng’s brother. No wonder. You Chu family members are all monsters. This scar is from Chu Zheng left me back then.”
Chu Xuyun’s brows furrowed slightly, sensing the implications behind Su Yang’s words.
Sure enough, Su Yang’s face suddenly darkened, a cruel smile spreading as he spoke, “But he was really unlucky. Not only did he fail to kill me, but I tore him apart, leaving him in pieces. Your fate will be the same!”
He was referring to Chu Xuyun’s elder brother.
In Chu Xuyun’s mind, a string snapped.
He recalled his mother’s choked voice whenever she mentioned his brother’s eyes, and his father’s angry and sorrowful expression upon hearing Chu Xuyun’s decision to pursue cultivation.
His brother’s death had been a lasting sorrow for their family, casting a shadow over his parents’ lives for over twenty years.
Though slow to understand, Chu Xuyun was not ignorant.
A bone-chilling coldness gradually permeated the air, and Chu Xuyun closed his eyes, murmuring softly, “So it’s you.”
His voice was light, like a breeze passing by, yet it made Su Yang’s scalp tingle inexplicably.
Su Yang narrowed his eyes. He knew this young man before him was different from other cultivators. However, having absorbed the aura of tens of millions of souls in the Soul Refining Valley, he had long cultivated into a demon saint, unmatched within this realm.
No matter how strong humans were, could they surpass immortals? They were merely ants compared to elephants.
“Xu, together we can defeat him. Don’t act recklessly!” Ji Lianzhou was genuinely worried about Chu Xuyun. Although Chu Xuyun had given Su Yang a chance at victory by accepting his sword just now, facing a demon saint, their odds of winning were incredibly slim. There was no room for complacency.
Yu Xiao stared at Chu Xuyun’s back, rising suddenly to sever the demonic aura beneath Ji Lianzhou’s feet, then covering his mouth. “Be quiet. Don’t speak.”
Ji Lianzhou:?
Even Yu Xiao couldn’t grasp the situation. He was facing a demon saint. How could Chu Xuyun possibly win against a demon saint alone?
Chu Xuyun took a deep breath, blocking out all sound.
Years of silent cultivation, interrupted for various reasons, had taught him a lesson: even without Silent Dao, he seemed quite formidable.
“The three of you together are no match for me,” Su Yang sneered, “It’s just unfortunate for your parents, having to watch their hard-raised son turn into a pool of blood.”
Before he finished speaking, a bright light enveloped him suddenly. Su Yang’s eyes widened in disbelief as Chu Xuyun’s sword was suddenly inches away from him.
The sword light was dazzling like a celestial thunderstorm, and for a moment, he hadn’t realized how Chu Xuyun had approached him.
Instinctively, Su Yang released a burst of demonic aura from his palm to defend himself, but in the next moment, a sword pierced through his chest. Quickly, it was withdrawn.
He stared in astonishment at the bloody hole in his chest, then another sword swiftly aimed at his face.
The speed was so fast that he couldn’t even see the sword clearly in the rain of swords. He could only vaguely see a pair of ice-cold eyes full of chilling intent.
“Xu, this is the Rapid Snow Sword Technique.”
Hearing Chu Xuyun’s voice, both Yu Xiao and Ji Lianzhou looked on in shock, unable to even capture Chu Xuyun’s figure.
Xu,
At this moment, don’t teach swordsmanship first!
“You really are a monster!” Su Yang belatedly panicked, trying to use all his demonic aura to push Chu Xuyun back. However, Chu Xuyun smoothly turned in the air and plunged his sword into Su Yang’s heart once more.
The sword intent on the tip of the sword was the best weapon against demons as if it had been tempered with intense fire. Every stroke left Su Yang in excruciating pain, and his heart and courage shattered.
This person before him was definitely not ordinary. Even if he were a true immortal, he must be a Taiyi True Immortal!
He couldn’t win. There was no way he could defeat him!
At this moment, Chu Xuyun seemed to Su Yang like a demon in human skin, and the sword in his hand was a flag of death.
The only way to kill him was the way he had killed Chu Zheng years ago.
Realizing this, Su Yang’s eyes suddenly sharpened. As Chu Xuyun’s sword stabbed towards him, he forcibly grabbed the sword with his hand.
But the sword intent attached to the Rapid Snow Sword Technique cut through his fingers. Without hesitation, Chu Xuyun lifted the sword, cleanly severing Su Yang’s arm.
Cold sweat poured from Su Yang’s forehead as he tried to regenerate his severed arm. Moments later, he horrifyingly found that the flesh and blood on his arm couldn’t regenerate.
“The Thousand Calamities Sword is an ancient demon-slaying immortal sword,” Chu Xuyun’s voice echoed faintly like a ghost, “With my sword intent, its power is increased a thousandfold. You can’t regenerate your arm anymore.”
This sword was not the same in Ah Xu’s hands!
Su Yang’s face turned extremely ugly. He knew that if he took a few more strikes from Chu Xuyun, he would likely be chopped into pieces.
Where did they find such a monster?
“Chu Xuyun,” Su Yang attempted to distract him, seeking a chance to survive. His voice carried a hint of fear, “There are more than just me here. Why are you only targeting me?”
Chu Xuyun didn’t even look at him, another sword mercilessly piercing through Su Yang’s heart.
“Because the other one is my husband.”
Not far away, Yu Xiao’s heart skipped a beat, his ears faintly tinged with an imperceptible blush.
