Chapter 36 Like Me So Much
“Dear husband?” Su Yang clearly hadn’t expected this additional layer of relationship between Chu Xuyun and Yu Xiao. He had intended to strike while Chu Xuyun was distracted, but instead found himself momentarily stunned.
His adopted son turned out to be a eunuch.
In that split second of hesitation, Chu Xuyun seized the opportunity with precision. His longsword, carrying a chilling whistle of wind, pierced through Su Yang’s heart and pinned him firmly against the city wall behind.
A mouthful of blood escaped Su Yang’s lips as he looked up at Chu Xuyun, a smile cracking across his lips. “Chu Xuyun, you’ve chosen the wrong husband. That boy carries a demon curse; sooner or later, he will become a creature devoid of emotions like myself.”
Chu Xuyun narrowed his eyes, unmoved, as he infused spiritual energy into the tip of his sword.
Soon, Su Yang could no longer speak. He stared coldly at Chu Xuyun, a fleeting vision of Chu Zheng appearing before his eyes. Just as he had killed Chu Zheng back then, today he was determined to kill Chu Xuyun.
He allowed the spiritual energy of the sword’s tip to pierce a gaping hole in his chest, grinning savagely as he reached out and grasped Chu Xuyun’s throat.
“Do you know how I killed your elder brother?”
Chu Xuyun furrowed his brow, sensing something amiss but unable to withdraw his sword now. If he persisted for just half a moment longer, Su Yang would be reduced to dust by the overwhelming spiritual energy.
Su Yang laughed heartily, “You’ll find out soon enough.”
Not far away, Yu Xiao sensed a change in the demonic aura around his opponent. It felt familiar, and he recalled with sudden realization, his eyes widening,
“Ah Xu, run! He has a demonic insect on him!”
There was no mistake; it was exactly like the demonic insect he had planted, nourished by its host’s blood. Once released, its power could pull Chu Xuyun down into oblivion along with it!
Hearing Yu Xiao’s words, Chu Xuyun immediately pulled out his sword, slicing off Su Yang’s arm that gripped him. Just as he tried to step back, Su Yang coiled around him like a poisonous snake.
He spun around and stabbed Su Yang, but it seemed to have no effect on him. Determined, Su Yang aimed to drag Chu Xuyun into death with him.
Yu Xiao rushed towards Chu Xuyun regardless, but they were enveloped by a towering demonic aura that seemed to absorb and devour all light, turning everything to ashes.
“Ah Xu!!”
He hadn’t confessed his feelings to Ah Xu yet and hadn’t figured out when Ah Xu started liking him. They had just gotten married a few days ago and hadn’t had the chance to enjoy their time together. Why, why was this happening?
Amid Yu Xiao’s agonized cry, a brilliant light suddenly shot out from within the overwhelming demonic aura, piercing through the sky. In an instant, the heavens cleared, the clouds dispersed, and even the wind and rain ceased.
Yu Xiao stared in disbelief as Chu Xuyun emerged from the demonic mist. For a moment, he doubted his own eyes.
Once a demonic insect was fully activated, there was no chance of survival. Moreover, Su Yang had already reached the stage of an evil immortal, equalizing all beings below true immortals, and turning them into nothing more than a pool of blood.
But Ah Xu… stood quietly in the center of the mist, unscathed.
Equally stunned, Ji Lianzhou couldn’t help but mutter, “Chu Xuyun, you’ve become too strong, haven’t you?”
Heaven, you’re not being subtle about who you favor.
“You scared me.”
Chu Xuyun pulled out his sword from Su Yang’s heart, then ran towards Yu Xiao who was still in shock, embraced him, and rubbed his neck as if he had escaped death, “I thought I was going to die.”
It was terrifying; thankfully, his hands were quicker.
In time, Yu Xiao realized the scene he had just witnessed and reacted. He was still immersed in it for a long time before he finally reacted. He patted Chu Xuyun’s back with a complex expression, comforting him, “It’s okay, I’m here.”
Although he seemed to have done nothing to help.
Ji Lianzhou, who was seriously injured all over his body, struggled to get up with a long sword, and smiled helplessly, “Ah Xu, in my opinion, you are not far from ascending to become a true immortal.”
At this point, Chu Xuyun poked his head out of Yu Xiao’s shoulder, whispered softly, “Didn’t I tell you? I was already in the True Immortal stage two years ago. I just haven’t ascended to the heavens yet. Yun Ling Xianzi said it was because I hadn’t fulfilled the promise I made to someone and had lingering attachments in the mortal world.”
Ji Lianzhou: ?
Yu Xiao: ?
No wonder…
Yu Xiao touched his nose, thinking of the scene when he was defeated by Ah Xu with a sword. It was not unfair to lose to a true immortal, not because he was too weak.
It was Su Yang who thought he was still facing an ordinary person before he died, and he deluded himself into thinking that he could use the same method to kill Ah Xu again, so how could an evil immortal who broke through with his murderous aura compare with Ah Xu, who had trained to become a true immortal?
“It’s just a pity,” Ji Lianzhou sighed again, “I thought Chu Zheng was killed by Su Yang because he was not as good as Su Yang, but unexpectedly it was because Su Yang used this sinister trick to kill Chu Zheng with a demonic insect.”
Hearing him mention Chu Zheng, Chu Xuyun’s eyelashes drooped slightly, and he couldn’t help feeling a bit sad.
His elder brother had spent his whole life fighting demons and upholding justice. Perhaps, like him, his elder brother had also pierced Su Yang’s heart with a long sword, thinking he could defeat Su Yang, only to be killed by the demonic insect.
Realizing Chu Xuyun’s emotions, Yu Xiao gently patted his shoulder and whispered softly, “Don’t be sad. Looking back now, I think your elder brother gave his talent to you, who had just been born, and even expected you to defeat Su Yang one day.”
“Really?” Chu Xuyun blinked, looked up at him, and quickly relaxed.
Yu Xiao pursed his lips and whispered softly, “It must be, he must be happy for you.”
If it were him, after his death, he would also accompany Ah Xu by his side, praying fervently for him and cursing those who hurt him.
Chu Xuyun imagined his elder brother cheering him on beside him, his eyes slightly moist, and spoke seriously, “Then this year I have to burn more paper money for him and fold paper ingots for him, the kind that’s golden.”
Upon hearing his words, the other two couldn’t help but laugh softly.
How did Ah Xu do it? Even though he was the most powerful being here, he still maintained the innocence of a child.
“Now that Su Yang is dead, I will return to the Three Saints Sect.” Ji Lianzhou sheathed his sword and looked at Chu Xuyun with emotion. He had known that there was an insurmountable gap between them, but it wasn’t until today that he realized how terrifying and helpless it would be without someone as powerful as Ah Xu by his side.
Chu Xuyun released Yu Xiao and called out lightly to Ji Lianzhou’s departing figure, “Lianzhou, see you in the heavens. Let’s make a date.”
Ji Lianzhou’s lips curled slightly, without turning his head, he waved his hand, “You’d better not make any appointments without others. See you later.”
In case he couldn’t ascend again and had to stay in the mortal world for decades more.
He would redouble his efforts, not to catch up with anyone, but to cultivate himself into a better person.
Not until Ji Lianzhou had departed did Chu Xuyun reluctantly withdraw his gaze. He heard Yu Xiao sigh beside him, “I didn’t realize he was quite decent before. It’s a pity I won’t see him again.”
Chu Xuyun glanced at him in surprise.
No, that’s not right.
Yu Xiao must be displeased that Chu Xuyun had been staring at Lianzhou all along, so he deliberately said that.
“Lianzhou is indeed decent, but so are you.” Chu Xuyun quickly held his face and kissed him lightly. “Don’t be upset.”
Yu Xiao raised an eyebrow and murmured softly, “I sincerely think he’s not bad.”
If it weren’t for Ji Lianzhou, he wouldn’t have known that Xuyun had been interested in him for a long time.
Chu Xuyun looked at him half-believingly and kissed his face gently twice more.
This way, even if Yu Xiao was being sarcastic, he wouldn’t be angry.
Amused by him, Yu Xiao pulled him into his arms. Just as he was about to kiss him, a weak voice came from nearby, “Yu Xiao, you madman, how dare you throw me onto Su Yang…”
Both froze for a moment, then turned to see Yin Xuzhao crawling out of the bushes with wounds, his face covered in blood.
They had forgotten about this foolish dragon.
Yu Xiao remained composed, kissed Chu Xuyun lightly on the lips, then took Thousand tribulations from Chu Xuyun’s hand and walked towards Yin Xuzhao.
“Hmm?” Yin Xuzhao hadn’t yet grasped what had happened when he saw two identical faces in front of him, muttering incredulously, “Two Chu Xuyun…”
He must be near death, otherwise, how could he see two Chu Xuyun?
However, the one approaching him with a sword, exuding a murderous aura, must be the real Chu Xuyun.
Because Chu Xuyun often approached him with a stern face, ready to strike him.
Yin Xuzhao hastily got up from the ground and hugged Yu Xiao in front of him. “Chu Xuyun, it’s really you. I thought you wouldn’t come…”
The next moment, a heart-wrenching voice echoed through the sky.
Yu Xiao brushed off the dust on his clothes, shook off the blood from the tip of his sword with disgust, turned his head, held Chu Xuyun’s hand, and walked away.
“Yu Xiao, I’m really hungry.”
“Well, I’ll make dragon liver for you when we get back.”
“That’s great.”
Yu Xiao was his favorite.
—
In the demonic palace hot spring, Chu Xuyun relaxed comfortably, letting the warm water support his body.
So comfortable.
Why didn’t Yu Xiao tell him earlier that there was such a nice place in the demonic palace?
After washing away all the dirt on his body, he wanted to enjoy this rare moment of rest.
Chu Xuyun closed his eyes, listening to the gentle voice.
“Open your mouth.”
He opened his mouth and immediately tasted a piece of sweet and refreshing melon.
“Dinner will be ready soon. Is there any dessert you’d like?”
Chu Xuyun thought for a moment and whispered, “I want some pine nut and lily pastry, and a cup of iced tea.” He hesitated, touched his stomach, and asked somewhat shyly, “Can you add a few more buns for me?”
The person beside him couldn’t help but chuckle. “Of course, you want more.”
His family was majestic and unrivaled, the number one in the world. It wasn’t abnormal for him to eat over a dozen buns in one meal.
Desserts and tea were brought over, and Yu Xiao gently placed them beside Chu Xuyun’s hand, looking regretfully at the snowy figure in the hot spring.
If the meal hadn’t been prepared yet, he really wanted to soak in the hot spring with Xuyun.
“Oh, by the way,” Yu Xiao suddenly remembered something, reached out and pointed at Chu Xuyun’s smooth shoulder, “What about the Yuanqing Holy Water?”
Chu Xuyun blinked, turned to look at him, and said softly, “It’s with me.”
Last time, when he wanted Yu Xiao to drink the holy water, it made him sad. Originally, he was going to throw away the holy water, but he couldn’t bear to do so. After all, it was the grand prize Li Yanhe had painstakingly obtained, and it was good to keep it as a memento. So he kept it.
“Give it to me.” Yu Xiao held out his palm and smiled, “I want to drink it now.”
Chu Xuyun stared at him blankly, trying to see if there was any hint of reluctance on Yu Xiao’s face, but he found none. He reminded him, “Once you drink it, you’ll become a mortal, lose your demonic energy, and the demonic insects in your body will be destroyed by the holy water.”
Are you sure you want to drink it?
Yin Xuzhao thought for a moment, looked down at him, and said, “Over the years, I’ve killed many demonic cultivators. Su Yang, who caused chaos in the demonic realm, is also dead now. I’ve done my best for my mother’s revenge. It wouldn’t be bad to become a mortal again.”
His mother had also hoped he would be an ordinary child. If he hadn’t been implanted with demonic insects by Su Yang, maybe he and his mother wouldn’t have been ostracized to live in the demonic realm, and later his mother wouldn’t have died in that chaos.
Moreover, Yin Xuzhao found that whether or not he had the demonic insects on his body, Xuyun didn’t need him to protect him.
So it’s better to become a mortal, wash his hands and make soup for Xuyun every day, and live quietly in a corner of the mortal world. It seemed pretty good.
Chu Xuyun was still somewhat uncertain, scrutinizing Yin Xuzhao’s expression while frowning, thinking, “Yin Xuzhao, you’re acting strangely today.”
He praised Lianzhou again, and actively wanted to drink the holy water.
It’s like he’s changed overnight.
What happened when he wasn’t around?
Yin Xuzhao’s lips curled slightly, and he slowly said, “Really?”
“Really.”
Chu Xuyun stared straight at him, and suddenly reached out to touch Yin Xuzhao’s cheek, murmuring softly, “Let me see if you’ve been disguised.”
As soon as he finished speaking, Yin Xuzhao couldn’t help but laugh and pulled him out of the water.
The water splashed, and the wet ink hair interlaced between the fair fingers. Yin Xuzhao firmly locked him in his arms, his eyes falling on Chu Xuyun’s naked shoulders, his voice inexplicably hoarse,
“Because I only realized today that Xuyun had long been fond of me in Taiqing Sect, and he secretly cherished the portrait I painted. He likes me so much?”
Chu Xuyun’s eyes widened suddenly, and his breath stopped.
“Since when, hmm?”
Chu Xuyun’s face flushed red. He buried his head into Yin Xuzhao’s neck, biting his lower lip tightly, refusing to speak any further.
Yin Xuzhao chuckled softly, lightly flicking Chu Xuyun’s reddened earlobe with his fingertip. “Can’t speak again, relying on the Silent Dao?”
Chu Xuyun nodded.
Speechless was really useful,
From now on, he would continue to practice the Silent Dao and not say a word!
