White Peach Oolong
White Peach Oolong Chapter 18.2

“Mr. Pei, the access card records show it was Fiona…” The receptionist sounded puzzled, “But the time is recorded as 6:30 AM…”

Pei Shi hung up, feeling a deep sense of regret.

A quiet child is often up to no good. How did he not foresee this? Bai Tao had disappeared without a word in the morning, and knowing her personality, what good could she have done?

Sure enough, the disaster was his to bear.

But since it was Bai Tao, Pei Shi, true to his current persona, could only respond with a doting smile. He reminded himself not to get angry as he opened a drawer to make some Biluochun tea to calm his nerves. This premium pre-Qingming tea had excellent flavor.

But Pei Shi’s smile quickly vanished.

The Biluochun was gone too!

The tea canister remained, but inside, the fine tea had been replaced with Lipton tea bags.

Pei Shi couldn’t take it anymore. He felt the need to have a serious talk with Bai Tao and called her internal line—

“Bai Tao, come to my office.”

Bai Tao was enthusiastically explaining the many benefits of the color pink to Sun Jing when she received Pei Shi’s call. She quickly wrapped up the conversation and reminded Sun Jing, “By the way, don’t call me Fiona anymore. From today, I am Pinky. Got it? Green is bad luck and brings bad fortune. Pink is the way to go. Fiona is too green, and that’s unlucky.”

With that, she flicked her hair, adjusted her expression, and headed to Pei Shi’s office.

After spending the morning transforming Pei Shi’s office, it was unfortunate that he didn’t seem pleased. He sat at his desk with a dark expression and greeted her with a single question.

“What is this?”

Pei Shi’s voice was cold, but his good manners kept him somewhat composed. He looked at Bai Tao and then took out the tea bags. “Explain, where is my Biluochun?”

Bai Tao calmly explained, “Hubby, Biluochun is green tea. Green tea has a bad connotation these days, and I don’t want you to be misunderstood as that kind of green tea man. It’s bad for your image.” She concluded matter-of-factly, “Good men drink black tea now.”

Pei Shi took a long time to calm down before speaking again, still relatively composed, “And where are my green plants? What happened to all the green in my office?”

This was an interrogation!

Bai Tao’s alarm bells rang. At times like this, she needed to stay calm and composed. For her future and this marriage, she decided to go all out!

“Hubby…” Bai Tao began sweetly, standing up and moving to Pei Shi’s chair. She then sat on his lap, wrapped her arms around his neck, and batted her eyes at him. “Green is not a good color, especially for men. You know, I would never let green have anything to do with you because…”

She drew out her words and then quickly kissed his lips, “Because I love you, hubby. I love you!”

She followed up with a cute heart gesture.

To avoid Pei Shi’s potential retribution, Bai Tao decided to throw all decorum aside. What was a little lap-sitting and kissing in the grand scheme of things?

Pretending she was a time-traveling heroine out to change her fate, Bai Tao felt no psychological burden. She kissed Pei Shi’s cheeks several more times and then announced, “Also, hubby, don’t call me Fiona anymore. Call me Pinky. I want you to feel surrounded by sweet pink bubbles when you say my name.”

“As for me, my feelings for you are as solid as gold. Green could never come between us…”

Having gone all out in her act, Bai Tao started feeling nervous as Pei Shi’s expression grew complex. But now, getting off his lap felt awkward…

Her face heated up, and her heart raced. Pei Shi, initially stunned and stiff, gradually regained his composure and quietly watched Bai Tao.

His gaze was intense, making Bai Tao feel extremely uncomfortable. Her nerves made her ramble, “You are not a prairie, and I am not a wild horse…”

She babbled on and finally concluded, “May heaven have no green…”

Luckily, to ease the awkwardness, Pei Shi’s phone rang at that moment.

Sitting on Pei Shi’s lap, Bai Tao clearly heard the conversation—

“Mr. Pei, we’ve checked the coffee shop’s surveillance, and there was no…”

The caller seemed to be from the police. Pei Shi glanced at Bai Tao and calmly said, “Thank you, I’ve found the dollars. Sorry, I forgot about them and wasted your time.”

He apologized profusely to the police before hanging up and then looked at Bai Tao, “Did you take them?”

Bai Tao had no choice but to admit her “theft.”

Having acted impulsively, Bai Tao now regretted it as she looked around the gaudy, rural-style office. Pei Shi, although controlling his emotions well, seemed somewhat angry. His calm tone masked deeper irritation.

If she had truly cheated on him, not even eradicating all green in the universe could undo the harm to Pei Shi. Bai Tao felt dejected at the thought.

She lowered her head and mumbled, “I’m sorry.”

Bai Tao slid off Pei Shi’s lap, feeling downcast and ready to give up, “I’ll get your green tea back.”

She looked at Pei Shi pitifully and muttered, “Are you mad at me and don’t love me anymore?”

Pei Shi was indeed a bit angry. Bai Tao always acted unpredictably, transforming his office after a chaotic “robbery,” stealing his dollars and green tea, and disrupting his life. But seeing her dejected look, he felt a bit sorry for her. Considering her mental state, Pei Shi decided to be more understanding. After all, Bai Tao had gone to great lengths to find so many red plants.

“I’m not angry,” Pei Shi said patiently, “but it’s unnecessary, Bai Tao. Green isn’t important. I trust you.”

His intention was to calm Bai Tao and prevent further chaos. However, his words seemed to reinvigorate her. She sprang up, eyes shining like a triumphant little leopard.

“See? You wouldn’t be mad at me! You love me the most!”

She pointed to her cheek, “But to prove you really aren’t mad about the green and have no other thoughts about calling me Fiona, you have to prove it.”

“What?”

Bai Tao pointed to her cheek again, “You have to kiss me.”

Pei Shi had no choice but to kiss Bai Tao’s cheek. However, she didn’t leave, staring at him with her round, bright eyes.

Pei Shi was genuinely exasperated, “What else do you want?”

“Say you love me the most.”

“Okay, I love you the most.”

Bai Tao finally smiled contentedly, looking at Pei Shi with pure and unwavering affection, “Pei Shi, I love you too.”

Bai Tao left the office, bouncing with energy, completely forgetting to return the green tea. But Pei Shi didn’t ask for it back, realizing that perhaps drinking black tea wasn’t so bad after all.

After all, a good man drinks black tea.

A patient and tolerant good man should drink black tea.
