Shen Li has a spicy taste when eating, and he loves Sichuan cuisine the most. When eating at Song Yi’s house, Zhao Hongyan would stir fry pork with chili peppers, boiled fish, and spicy chicken shreds every day. Song Yi’s ability to eat spicy food was not good, and during that time, his mouth was bubbling. Zhao Hongyan still enjoyed stir frying chili peppers.
Today, it’s still the same. The sweet and delicious aroma of the cake in the living room is mixed with the pungent smell of chili peppers, which was not unique. Song Yi opened the window for ventilation, and when the wind blew outside, the spicy smell hit his face. He couldn’t help but sneeze a little.
Gu Xingchuan averted his gaze from Shen Li and glanced at him. He frowned, pursed his lips stiffly, neatly lowered the sleeves of his hoodie, stood up, and walked into the kitchen.
After a while, Zhao Hongyan took off her apron and came out, awkwardly rubbing her hands and said. “Xiao Gu wants to cook, let’s try his craft.”
Could Gu Xingchuan still cook? Song Yi was surprised, he couldn’t tell that he was someone who could cook.
Shen Li took advantage of Gu Xingchuan’s absence and closed the cake box, although this thing was delicious, eating it all the time would make anyone greasy. He took a sip of tea to relieve his boredom, glanced at the kitchen, and smiled as he tap Song Yi’s shoulder. “Have you ever eaten the dishes made by Gu Xingchuan?”
Song Yi had never seen Gu Xingchuan holding a spatula before and honestly shook his head.
“I’ve seen him cooking on variety shows, and everything he makes is exactly what I like to eat,” Shen Li said, lowering his head and smiling softly. “I never thought he would learn to cook for me.”
Song Yi smiled warmly despite feeling quite down. Pinching Shen Li’s cheek, he said, “I’ll let you try my cooking another day.”
“Okay, I’m really lucky!” Shen Li replied with a smile.
Gu Xingchuan was so busy in the kitchen that he couldn’t watch the two of them being all lovey-dovey. Leaning against the door frame, he glanced at them and lowered his jaw slightly. “Song Yi, since you’re free, come help me wash the vegetables.”
Anyway, we shouldn’t let Song Yi and Shen Li sit together for too long.
Song Yi conscientiously worked quickly, mindful that Gu Xingchuan was a guest who had come all the way to his house. As the host, he couldn’t simply sit idle and show no hospitality.
The range hood hummed in the kitchen, and the scent of chili was faint. Song Yi washed a handful of lettuce, then brought it to the chopping board and began to cut it carefully.
When he bought this house, he prioritized the location and the spacious terrace. Although the kitchen was smaller, Song Yi typically dined outdoors and didn’t think much of it. Now, he regretted that decision a bit.
In the cramped space, two slender men could almost touch each other’s limbs just by moving. Song Yi chopped vegetables steadily, while Gu Xingchuan moved about, occasionally brushing against Song Yi’s backside with his arm, causing Song Yi some concern.
In the living room, he didn’t know what Shen Li and Zhao Hongyan were talking about but he could hear them laughing heartily.
In Song Yi’s memory, Zhao Hongyan rarely smiled at him like this. She had always been serious and reserved. Even when Song Yi excelled in their exams, Zhao Hongyan never gave him a favorable glance. Their interactions typically elicited only a few smiles from him.
Thinking of this, Song Yi let out a “hiss” and looked down. He accidentally nicked the side of his ring finger with the kitchen knife, causing a small cut.
Gu Xingchuan turned around and caught a glimpse of his bleeding ring finger, frowning displeasedly. “Why are you so stupid?”
“I didn’t pay attention.” Song Yi pulled a few kitchen papers to wipe off the blood on his hand. Gu Xingchuan grabbed his wrist, lowered his head, and pulled it to his lips. He reached out his warm lips and rolled up the blood, sucking on it like a vampire.
His expression was focused, with sharp edges on his side face and curled eyelashes trembling with his breath, as if doing something natural.
