The Dream Guy I Dumped is Madly Chasing Me
The Dream Guy I Dumped is Madly Chasing Me Chapter 20.2

Shen Siyan seemed oblivious to what he had said, continuing, “This problem is solved. Look.”

Xu Zhilu lowered her gaze, drawn to the paper he handed over.

Actually, Shen Siyan wasn’t completely useless. His grades were bad, but his handwriting was beautiful.

It was said that when Shen Siyan was young, his mother thought he was too mischievous and forced him to attend calligraphy classes to temper his temperament.

Of course, his temperament remained the same—defiant and unruly—but he did learn to write well.

His handwriting was powerful and strong, each stroke seeming to penetrate the paper, giving a very comfortable feeling. Whether it was the layout or the style, one could sense his personality.

Defiant and confident.

Xu Zhilu stared for a while and then said, “Not bad.”

“You got it right,” she said.

Shen Siyan raised an eyebrow and asked, “Do you want to keep going?”

“Up to you. Or should we switch subjects?”

“No, let’s stick with this,” Shen Siyan replied without thinking.

They continued to review the test papers.

During the two evening study periods, Shen Siyan completely finished his math test paper.

He had also attended the class in the morning, and although he didn’t fully understand everything, he grasped the main concepts and could digest the information.

He wasn’t dumb; he just needed someone patient to explain things to him.

After class, they acted as usual.

When they reached the girls’ dormitory, Shen Siyan suddenly called out to her.

“Are you hungry?”

Xu Zhilu instinctively replied, “Did your grandpa make duck with soy sauce again?”

Shen Siyan: “… No, want to have a meal with me?”

Xu Zhilu was taken aback and looked at him in surprise, “You didn’t have dinner?”

“No.”

They silently stared at each other for a while, and Xu Zhilu nodded, “Let’s go.”

“Really?”

Xu Zhilu glanced at her phone, “Just for half an hour. I have to be back by 9:30.”

Hearing this, Shen Siyan raised an eyebrow and smiled, “Alright, what do you want to eat?”

“I’m not hungry. Anything is fine.”

They left the school, and Xu Zhilu registered their exit.

Dorm students weren’t allowed to leave freely at night; they had to register to prevent any accidents.

Shen Siyan wasn’t picky and found a random restaurant outside.

After ordering, Shen Siyan said, “Boss, please hurry.”

The boss smiled and replied, “In a rush, huh?”

Shen Siyan smiled back, “Yes, my classmate needs to get back soon.”

The boss glanced at Xu Zhilu but didn’t say anything, “Alright, it’ll be quick.”

Xu Zhilu wasn’t very hungry, but the smell from the nearby stall suddenly made her feel hungry.

She lowered her head and took a sip of water, not saying a word.

The boss was indeed quick; in no time, Shen Siyan’s fried noodles and other dishes were served.

He got up to get a bowl and looked at Xu Zhilu, “Want a bowl?”

Xu Zhilu hesitated, “Will you have enough?”

“I will.”

Shen Siyan lazily said, “If not, I’ll eat more when I get back.”

“Oh.” Xu Zhilu didn’t refuse, “I’ll have a little then.”

Shen Siyan looked at her and smiled meaningfully.

Fried noodles at night always seemed tastier.

Maybe it was the aroma, or maybe for other reasons.

The shops near the school were all small, and the one they entered was a modestly decorated place. Though small, it had everything needed.

The light above wasn’t very bright, a warm yellow color. It cascaded down, unexpectedly creating a cozy atmosphere.

Xu Zhilu ate slowly.

But she had to admit, this bowl of fried noodles was tastier than her lunch and dinner.

When she finished, Shen Siyan had also finished.

He got up to pay, then turned to her, “Let’s go. I’ll walk you back to school.”

Xu Zhilu said, “It’s just a minute’s walk. I can go back by myself.”

She looked around the road, “Isn’t the driver picking you up?”

Shen Siyan, with his hands in his pockets, replied, “I’m taking a taxi back.”

“Oh.”

Xu Zhilu walked towards the school gate. When she reached the entrance, she turned to look at the person following her, “I’m going in.”

Shen Siyan raised his eyes, “Walk a bit further.”

Xu Zhilu: “…”

She took a few more steps and noticed Shen Siyan still following her.

Xu Zhilu hesitated but didn’t say anything.

That night, Xu Zhilu slept soundly for a change.

When Shen Siyan got home, it was already late.

Just as Shen Guangyuan returned home, the father and son exchanged a glance.

“Why so late?”

Shen Siyan responded, “Hmm. Dad, you just got back?”

Shen Guangyuan shook his head, “I got home at eight.”

Shen Siyan raised an eyebrow, “Where’s Mom?”

“In the kitchen. She said you didn’t eat, so she’s making something for you.”

Shen Guangyuan looked at him with slight disdain, “Can’t you eat out if you haven’t eaten?”

Hearing this, Shen Siyan immediately understood the underlying message.

It was basically, why trouble my wife to cook for you.

Shen Siyan sat on the sofa, took out his phone, and sent a message to Xu Zhilu before replying, “Mom cooking won’t mean less food for you.”

Shen Guangyuan: “…”

The father and son fell silent.

After a while, Shen Guangyuan looked at him, “I heard you’re studying hard recently?”

Shen Siyan: “…”

He replied, “Sort of.”

Shen Guangyuan didn’t hold much hope for him and said lightly, “If you’re studying, do it seriously. Don’t give up halfway.”

“Got it.”

The father and son usually didn’t have much to say to each other. After a few words, the conversation ended.

Soon after, Shen Guangyuan got up to help in the kitchen.

The three of them sat at the dining table. At this hour, Shen’s mother didn’t eat, just watched them.

“Shen Siyan.”

Shen Siyan looked up.

Shen’s mother said, “If you come home late, eat out or order takeout.”

She added, “The maid went home early. I don’t feel like cooking for you.”

Shen Siyan smirked and said, “Got it.”

Shen’s mother looked at him and asked, “Did you skip class again this afternoon?”

“…Yes.”

“Why?”

Shen Siyan didn’t answer.

Shen’s mother looked at him disdainfully and said, “I heard your grades improved this time.”

“A little.”

Shen’s mother chuckled and looked at him, “Behave yourself and stop causing trouble for your father and me. Otherwise, you won’t be allowed back home.”

Shen Siyan was speechless: “Am I not part of this family?”

“You are,” his mother said matter-of-factly, “but if we cut off our mother-son relationship, then you won’t be.”
