Chapter 326: I Want to Kill Someone
“The hostile energy from those who kill, the embodiment of hatred, and those who have been accompanied by or have had conjugal relations with supernatural beings over the years, will all generate this kind of Yin energy.” Xuan Luofei explained the different Yin energies, indicating that they weren’t exclusive to killers.
Ye Wenxin was relieved, but she was still very curious about the origin of Xuan Luofei’s Yin energy.
“Then why does Senior Sister Xuan have Yin energy?”
“I have wanted to kill someone for a very, very long time,” Xuan Luofei answered, but Ye Wenxin suddenly realized that this so-called person Xuan Luofei wanted to kill was probably Demon Lord Gu Qingcheng.
Thinking about Zhu-zhu’s lingering energy on her, Ye Wenxin felt she was always on the verge of having her identity exposed.
After getting to know Xuan Luofei better, Ye Wenxin discovered that she was not just a sweet and naive girl. One could only say that she hid herself very well, making Ye Wenxin think that she posed no threat.
Realizing this, a sense of caution arose in Ye Wenxin’s heart, and she heard the Demon Subduing Qin sound again. The strings vibrated, releasing an even stronger qi. This time, Xuan Luofei recited a few verses of poetry, her voice firing up the crowd, and instilling fear in the Yin Fetuses.
More and more Yin Fetuses appeared, jumping out of ponds, from the air, and from inside the houses. Ye Wenxin returned to her original position and saw Fairy Fengya in the distance, still easily dispatching each Yin Fetus with a single slash.
Jin Xiaoqin was already looking quite disheveled, but she continued to fight bravely. Time ticked away until they noticed the first light, and everyone realized it was daybreak.
The large number of Yin Fetuses also retreated at this moment, giving everyone a moment of reprieve.
“Finally, they’re gone.”
“Phew, my hands are numb.”
The immortal sect disciples were already exhausted, and seeing that the Yin Fetuses were retreating, they couldn’t help but sit on the ground. Ye Wenxin reached into her bag of holding. She was about to give each person a pill to alleviate their fatigue from the previous day, but then she saw a Yin Fetus on the ground that wasn’t completely dead, lunging towards the nearest male disciple.
If Ye Wenxin went to save him now, she would definitely make it in time, but she was unwilling to reveal too many secrets. She quickly shouted that the Yin Fetus wasn’t dead yet. Upon seeing this, Jin Xiaoqin rushed forward, taking the blow for the disciple and cutting the Yin Fetus in half.
If someone else had been injured, Ye Wenxin wouldn’t have even blinked, but it just so happened to be Jin Xiaoqin who was hurt. Ye Wenxin’s expression changed, and she hurriedly stepped forward to check on Jin Xiaoqin’s condition.
Fortunately, it wasn’t a fatal wound, but Jin Xiaoqin had already been injured twice in a row, and would probably need a long time to recuperate. Ye Wenxin sighed with relief. She quickly applied acupuncture on Jin Xiaoqin to control the Yin toxin, then hurriedly asked a few female disciples to help. They surrounded Jin Xiaoqin, who looked extremely pale.
Ye Wenxin couldn’t help but laugh and tease, “Master, that wasn’t an Azure Wings Sect disciple. You didn’t need to go all out like that.”
“He’s an immortal sect disciple,” Jin Xiaoqin stubbornly responded. If she hadn’t jumped in to help, that disciple would have likely been torn apart. Ye Wenxin felt quite moved as she listened. She had always thought that Jin Xiaoqin was the least like an immortal sect elder, but now she seemed to be the most true to its spirit.
“Disciple, am I beyond saving this time? You’re even asking me that question.” But the next second, Jin Xiaoqin immediately ruined the dignified image of an Azure Wings Sect elder from a moment ago. Ye Wenxin’s hand holding the needle trembled, but she managed to control it and didn’t prick the wrong acupoint.
Seeing Jin Xiaoqin finally realize the fear of death, Ye Wenxin couldn’t stay angry. “Next time, please consider yourself first.”
Upon hearing the implication that she wasn’t going to die, Jin Xiaoqin fainted. Due to extreme fatigue, old injuries resurfacing, and nerves stretched to the limit, she developed a high fever that wouldn’t subside, making Ye Wenxin even busier.
The male disciple felt extremely apologetic and helped out in various ways. The others witnessed this in silence; they also hoped someone would defend them if they were attacked.
However, with Jin Xiaoqin falling ill, everyone had to rely on the few with the highest cultivation levels.
Fairy Fengya, Long Qing’er, Xuan Luofei, and even Ye Wenxin were considered, though her assigned role was that of a strategist, essentially just wagging her tongue.
If it were any other time, Ye Wenxin would have eagerly taken any chance to slack off, but Jin Xiaoqin’s illness put a lot of pressure on her. She had only learned up to the eighth needle of the Soul-Suppressing Eighteen Needles, making her at best a half-baked doctor. The pills were of little use at this time, so Ye Wenxin could only do her utmost to pull Jin Xiaoqin back from the brink of death.
As for whether there would be any aftereffects after recovery, that was left to fate…
The next day, Jin Xiaoqin slowly regained consciousness.
“Did I go to the Bridge of Helplessness1? How come I see you, disciple…”
“You might want to die, but I certainly don’t!” Ye Wenxin, who had been somewhat excited, felt all her excitement vanish upon hearing Jin Xiaoqin’s words. Jin Xiaoqin seemed to have regained some strength, and the master and disciple started bickering again.
The scene brought relief to everyone else. For them, they were no longer just a group of immortal sect members, they had become a community tied together by fate.
“Elder Jin, I’m truly sorry. If it weren’t for…” The male disciple sincerely apologized. If he had been more careful in his inspection and hadn’t overlooked that Yin Fetus, Jin Xiaoqin wouldn’t have suffered again.
Jin Xiaoqin didn’t respond but anxiously scanned the group to ensure there were no further casualties. Upon inspection, no one was missing, but there were several more familiar disciples from the Azure Wings Sect.
“Don’t worry, I won’t let us lose a single person.” Ye Wenxin, to prevent causing more distress on Jin Xiaoqin, had ended up taking action when those Yin Fetuses came to visit again last night.
Moreover, Xuan Luofei played her qin to attract more disciples. They employed the same methods as yesterday to deal with the Yin Fetuses in the ponds and guided the newly found recruits through this second checkpoint.
Upon hearing Ye Wenxin’s self-praise, Jin Xiaoqin gave her a glare, still not quite believing that Ye Wenxin had actually done anything good.
“As long as you didn’t go causing trouble for me.”
Ye Wenxin felt like crying but had no tears. She glanced at the others, hoping for some support. Seeing Ye Wenxin’s helplessness, everyone started chattering about her deeds. Ye Wenxin crossed her arms and looked smug. Jin Xiaoqin chuckled but didn’t say more.
Now that Jin Xiaoqin had awakened, and with several powerful disciples joining the group, they decided to continue exploring. The area was too open to serve as a hiding place; they needed to keep moving to avoid further crises.
