Successful Escape
Ruan Yuexi’s resolve surprised the lawyer, as it was rare to see someone willingly give up such a substantial fortune.
The lawyer, puzzled, asked, “But you will lose a significant amount of property.”
Ruan Yuexi shook her head firmly. “I’ve decided to give up these assets.” Of course she knew that this was a tempting piece of cake, but without life, everything would be in vain.
Seeing her determination, the lawyer felt a bit sorry for her.
Adjusting his glasses, he continued, “In this case, you only need to draft a divorce agreement, but the most important thing is whether your husband is willing to sign it.” He noticed Ruan Yuexi’s face darken at this point.
Ruan Yuexi had considered this possibility: “So if he refuses to sign, the divorce agreement is useless?”
The lawyer, seeing her desperation, replied regretfully, “Yes, because your husband has committed no major faults.”
Leaning back in her chair, Ruan Yuexi was torn about what to do next. “Is there no other way?”
The lawyer shook his head. “No other way, I’m afraid.”
Feeling dejected, Ruan Yuexi said, “Alright, thank you.” It seemed that running away was the safest option, but having a divorce agreement was still necessary in case that pervert decided to sign it.
Seeing her insistence on having a divorce agreement, the lawyer could only comply, drafting a divorce agreement for Ruan Yuexi.
Ruan Yuexi eagerly signed her name and pressed her fingerprint on the divorce agreement, staring at the empty signature line for Shang Yao. She prayed that he would sign it.
Leaving the lawyer’s office with a high spirit, she returned to the villa feeling like a deflated balloon, unsure if she could successfully escape the clutches of the protagonist and the second male lead.
As soon as Ruan Yuexi entered the hall, Xiao Fang and the others immediately fell silent, as if they were very sensitive about the topic they had just discussed.
Ruan Yuexi assumed they were afraid of her, so she didn’t question their behavior and went upstairs to change into her loungewear.
She came back downstairs to watch TV but noticed Xiao Fang acting strangely, avoiding her gaze. Ruan Yuexi glanced curiously at Xiao Fang, who seemed anxious.
Turning on the TV, she flipped through the channels until she saw a familiar face. She sat up in surprise.
“Tang Qingqing?!” On the screen, Tang Qingqing and Shang Yao were shown. Apparently, Shang Yao had almost been in a car accident and was saved by Tang Qingqing, who happened to be driving nearby.
Shang Yao appeared unharmed, but Tang Qingqing had injured her shoulder in the process, and blood was visible.
The news praised Tang Qingqing’s selflessness. Ruan Yuexi watched intently, realizing that these two protagonists were destined to be together. This should make Shang Yao quickly develop feelings for Tang Qingqing, starting their passionate and dramatic love story.
Meanwhile, she, the cannon fodder female, could successfully retreat behind the scenes. This was a great opportunity for her to escape.
Ruan Yuexi checked the time. It was noon, and she hadn’t had lunch yet. She just needed to pack her jewelry, and she could leave.
“Madam…” Xiao Fang looked worried as she watched Ruan Yuexi, deeply concerned by the news. She was shocked by the report and grateful that Shang Yao had been saved, but worried about how it affected Ruan Yuexi.
With tears in her eyes and disbelief on her face, Ruan Yuexi looked at the TV, pretending to be deeply affected by the news.
Xiao Fang had no words to comfort her, feeling sorry for Ruan Yuexi.
Holding back her tears, Ruan Yuexi suddenly covered her face and started crying. Xiao Fang panicked.
“Madam? Master…” Xiaofang was at a loss, unable to console her.
Ignoring everything, Ruan Yuexi stood up and silently walked upstairs. Xiao Fang quickly followed her. Ruan Yuexi locked herself in her room, leaving Xiao Fang knocking on the door, afraid she might do something drastic.
Inside the room, Ruan Yuexi quickly packed her jewelry into a suitcase, taking only a few clothes, planning to buy more later. She made her face pale and pitiful, placed the freshly prepared divorce agreement on the dressing table, and confirmed everything was ready. Then she opened the door with her suitcase in hand.
Seeing her come out, Xiao Fang felt relieved for a moment, but then noticed the suitcase.
“Madam! Where are you going?” Xiao Fang’s fear grew.
Ruan Yuexi gave a sad smile, “I’m going back to my parents’ house for a few days. I need some peace and quiet.” She felt like an actress, constantly putting on a show.
Xiao Fang wanted to stop her but was afraid of making things worse. She was also worried about letting Ruan Yuexi go alone.
Ruan Yuexi preempted her, “No one is to follow me.” Her tone was harsh. If anyone followed, her escape would be ruined.
Xiao Fang stood frozen, unsure what to do. Should she inform Master? The image of Shang Yao and Tang Qingqing flashed in her mind. Perhaps Shang Yao was with his savior.
She could only watch as Ruan Yuexi left, then hurried downstairs to make a call.
Ruan Yuexi, though outwardly calm, felt her heart racing as she walked away. She hailed a taxi and gave the address. The driver was surprised, “To Lanting City?”
Ruan Yuexi nodded. “How much will it cost?” The driver, an older man, seemed honest.
He looked her over, noting her well-to-do appearance. “Young lady, did something happen?”
Ruan Yuexi lied for safety, “Just going home to see my parents.”
The driver was somewhat reassured, “Alright, the fare will be 800 yuan.” It was a fair price.
Ruan Yuexi was momentarily surprised when she heard the price, “Thank you.” She planned to tip him extra for his honesty.
The driver, guessing her situation, advised, “Young lady, did you have a fight with your husband? It’s normal to argue. The important thing is to think about each other…”
Ruan Yuexi responded to him from time to time, looking out the window. The road scenes kept flashing by. At this moment, she had an excitement of running towards freedom. She could finally break away from everything in the plot.
She had a small sense of belonging in this world. Although she had not yet arrived in Lanting City, she inexplicably felt that the air was fresh.
Ruan Yuexi no longer had to endure Shang Yao’s occasional kisses, nor did she have to endure Ye Yishen’s sickly words and behavior.
By nightfall, Shang Yao returned to the villa, where Xiao Fang hurriedly approached him.
“Master! Madam is missing!” She had been unable to reach him and had waited anxiously for his return.
Shang Yao paused, frowning. “What happened?”
“Madam saw the news about you and Tang Qingqing and left with her suitcase, saying she was going to her parents’ house. But now she’s nowhere to be found.”
